Why Cynthia Hale chose Manuel Antonio

Cynthia has been traveling to Costa Rica since she was 17 and wanted a second home in the Manuel Antonio area. The Chalet was her choice because it is very private, yet located in an upscale, gated community with the best onsite vacation rental management program in the area. She knows that her guests have an experienced staff to assist them in all aspects of their stay.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your place. It was exactly the jungle setting we were looking for. Just wish we would have been able to spend more time there. Dorit did a great job in lining up our activities as well.

Enjoyed Our Stay

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our stay in the wood chalet from Feb 24 for six nights. We were so happy to find everything just as it was described in the listing. Very peaceful, rainforest setting and top notch people to assist us at Manuel Antonio Estates from the guards, the front desk (Dorit) and the maid (Merisol). The location was ideal - close to everything but far enough from the main road so that the only sounds we heard were the birds and other animals, including monkeys in the canopy. The house, including the bathroom, was clean and cozy for romantic evenings. It was a great experience and I will recommend the chalet to others. Great value! Thanks for sharing.

Excellent Customer Service

  • 5 of 5
I will be traveling to Costa Rica in late August and I have not yet had the opportunity stay at this location.

I have on the other hand, had the pleasure of speaking with the Cynthia, the owner of this home, earlier this evening and I have to say....I was blown away!!

Being that this will be my first time traveling to Costa Rica, I know very little about the country and was uncertain about how I was going to set up my itinerary.

Cynthia called me in response to an email that I sent regarding my interest in staying at her home away from home. To my surprise, Cynthia took nearly 45 minutes of her own time to answer several questions that I had regarding travel arrangements from the San Jose airport to Quepos. In addition, she provided information regarding local attractions and things to do in the area.

I sent out several emails to different owners inquiring about vacation homes rentals and availability, and Cynthia was the ONLY one who actually picked up the phone to call me. She truly personalized my experience before I even arrived, and for that I give her 5 stars for Customer service.

Cynthia,

Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me this evening and I will be reaching out to you later next week!

All Expectations Met

  • 5 of 5
I spent one week at the little teak chalet and found the location to be everything that I hoped for. It is located in a private gated community but the setting is natural and private - so quiet that the monkeys came right up to the house several times during my stay. The house has an open floor plan and is very welcoming with a wood interior and cathedral ceilings. It was great having a kitchen and I put the blender to use almost everyday to make fruit smoothies - yummy! The bathroom was gigantic and great to have both the Jacuzzi and shower. If I had a question about where to go or what to do, the staff offered great advice and helped with tour arrangements, too. If you are not a good walker, you might want to take a taxi back to the house as the road gets a bit steep for a few hundred feet, but I enjoyed the exercise! I would recommend highly - the rates for other houses in this community start at $300 per day.

Cozy Cottage Reflecting Costa Rica Charm

  • 5 of 5
This quaint cottage provides a comfortable retreat, including air conditioning, embracing the local flavor of Manuel Antonio. Upon arrival we were greeted with fresh local tropical flowers. The private porch offered comfortable rocking chairs and a wonderful view of the lush greenery and periodic sitings of monkeys and toucans. The staff were responsive and eager to offer suggestions, as well as make any reservations needed. The kitchen even had koosies for beer.

We enjoyed the local farmer's market on Friday evening and the Band Competition Carnival on the Saturday we were there. Of course the MA National Park was amazing! We dined at Ronny's Place and celebrated a marvelous sunset with delicious local sangria.

If you like private and convenient, this is the place for you!

Charmingly Rustic, Private, and Convenient

  • 4 of 5
Even before our arrival the concierge service at Manuel Antonio Estates had provided outstanding service! They scheduled our activities from a comprehensive list of things to do in the area, arranged transportation to and from the estates, and were prompt and courteous with all email and phone communications. Even though our arrival was delayed they were there to welcome us and orient us to the area and the Chalet. During our stay they were only a phone call away for dining recommendations, questions, and reservations assist.

The Chalet was charming! Nestled in the woods, it was quiet and yet a convenient walk to town. The house was supplied with the basics necessary for a stay and we enjoyed making our breakfasts each day.

The town had a variety of places to eat and purchase food stuffs. The day we arrived there was a farmers market and the fresh fruit was amazing! There were many vendors selling fruit, vegetables and hand-made goods.

Even though the jacuzzi is the focal point in the house, our favorite moments were mornings on the porch sipping coffee while being entertained by the monkeys and birds.

We were pleasantly surprised to find air-conditioning, wifi, and television! All in all, our stay was comfortable and we would recommend it to anyone who wishes to relax in a comfortable little house in the woods!

Not to happy

  • 3 of 5
This property was not up to our expectations. First, I must say that if it wasn't for Luis and Dorit, we would have been most unhappy. I believe this is the least expensive home in Manuel Antonio Estates and could be made a bit more hospitable for minimal expense. Luis came to our rescue several times. Luis met us and took us to our place, explaining everything and we found out that several things didn't work, the AC remote and the only table lamp in the place which was not more than a night light. He promised to return the next morning and did. Very poor lighting, could not read. There was an overhead in the center of the living area but not enough light for reading, dim lighting in the kitchen and Christmas twinkle clear lights. We like to read and unless you brought your own light, being under the trees, it was dark. Luis came to our rescue with a good light and we brought in deck chairs, set the light on the TV so we could read. No reading in the bedroom area, no bedside tables, no light. The huge tub was wasted on us, must take hours to fill. We were warned we had to buy coffee filters! Very inconvenient and unwelcoming, how much would 8-10 filters cost for a little hospitality?? The stove only had one burner that worked and we couldn't start the oven. Luis saved us once again. There need to be directions on working the stove as not everyone is used to gas. Make sure house keeping gets the burner parts on right and note explaining how to light oven. Kitchen supplies minimal for a cook, only salt available, fry pans a wreck. Recommend for non readers, non cooks, minimal expectations. Thanks Luis for all your efforts.

Owner's Response: I understand the disappointment regarding the lighting, but happy to learn that my staff quickly assisted and were able to correct the problem. I will look into the brightness of the lights to see if it is possible to increase the wattage over the bed, over the kitchen bar, and in the living room area.
