The Wood Chalet, a unique single family home constructed of teak, is strategically located between Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park, in an upscale, gated community with 24/7 security, where each house is hidden in the flora, and privately situated to view the fauna. This idyllic location is simply the best of beach and jungle. Ideal for a naturalist or honeymoon couple. Spacious, open living area with full kitchen and huge upscale bathroom for pampering yourself. The chalet is managed onsite by our team with convenient check-in, assistance, and concierge service.
View the monkeys and the sloth that inhabit the rain forest canopy surrounding the chalet from it's roomy covered porch or patio areas. Pamper yourself at the Raindrop Spa, hike the nature trails, or simply relax and surround yourself with the sounds and sights as the tropical rain forest comes alive around you.
The Chalet is located in the natural habitat of species such as the squirrel monkey, white faced Capuchin monkey, three-toed sloth, and numerous bird species. For human contact, walk into the quaint village of Quepos, a center of sport fishing and enjoy the quaint shops and restaurants of an authentic Costa Rican town.
Minutes from the most visited national park in Costa Rica - Manuel Antonio National Park. Gorgeous beaches that are outlined by mangrove and coconut trees for shade. Arts, crafts, restaurants right on the beach!
Cynthia is enjoying retirement and travels extensively.
Cynthia Hale purchased this house in 2006
Cynthia has been traveling to Costa Rica since she was 17 and wanted a second home in the Manuel Antonio area. The Chalet was her choice because it is very private, yet located in an upscale, gated community with the best onsite vacation rental management program in the area. She knows that her guests have an experienced staff to assist them in all aspects of their stay.
Best location - quiet and peaceful yet so close to amenities
Natural rain forest setting - see lots of monkeys & birds
Romantic, romantic, romantic!
Private yet not isolated - safe and secure
Onsite reception, staff, and luxury spa
Wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your place. It was exactly the jungle setting we were looking for. Just wish we would have been able to spend more time there. Dorit did a great job in lining up our activities as well.
We enjoyed our stay in the wood chalet from Feb 24 for six nights. We were so happy to find everything just as it was described in the listing. Very peaceful, rainforest setting and top notch people to assist us at Manuel Antonio Estates from the guards, the front desk (Dorit) and the maid (Merisol). The location was ideal - close to everything but far enough from the main road so that the only sounds we heard were the birds and other animals, including monkeys in the canopy. The house, including the bathroom, was clean and cozy for romantic evenings. It was a great experience and I will recommend the chalet to others. Great value! Thanks for sharing.
We really enjoyed our stay in Manuel Antonio Estates. Despite the fact we missed the turn and drove 6 km past the estates to the park, then had to drive back in the worst traffic of the year, we finally settled into Manuel Antonio Estates. Casa Chalet is by far the smallest property in the community, and it doesn't have a pool like most others. However the estates are like a private park in the busy Quepos area and after most the other renters left after new year, the place was quiet. We saw white-faced Capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, sloths, lots of birds and beautiful butterflies right outside the casa. One feeling we got was that the interior was very dark, as the house is in the shade of the jungled mountain behind it, there were few bright lights inside and the natural wood finish is stained very dark. It did make it easy to sleep in. The kitchen was well-stocked one the bed was comfortable, plus the air-conditioning, wifi and tv made the place pretty cushy. The house had a huge built-in spa tub in the bathroom, a safe for your valuables, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.
I will be traveling to Costa Rica in late August and I have not yet had the opportunity stay at this location.
I have on the other hand, had the pleasure of speaking with the Cynthia, the owner of this home, earlier this evening and I have to say....I was blown away!!
Being that this will be my first time traveling to Costa Rica, I know very little about the country and was uncertain about how I was going to set up my itinerary.
Cynthia called me in response to an email that I sent regarding my interest in staying at her home away from home. To my surprise, Cynthia took nearly 45 minutes of her own time to answer several questions that I had regarding travel arrangements from the San Jose airport to Quepos. In addition, she provided information regarding local attractions and things to do in the area.
I sent out several emails to different owners inquiring about vacation homes rentals and availability, and Cynthia was the ONLY one who actually picked up the phone to call me. She truly personalized my experience before I even arrived, and for that I give her 5 stars for Customer service.
Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me this evening and I will be reaching out to you later next week!
I spent one week at the little teak chalet and found the location to be everything that I hoped for. It is located in a private gated community but the setting is natural and private - so quiet that the monkeys came right up to the house several times during my stay. The house has an open floor plan and is very welcoming with a wood interior and cathedral ceilings. It was great having a kitchen and I put the blender to use almost everyday to make fruit smoothies - yummy! The bathroom was gigantic and great to have both the Jacuzzi and shower. If I had a question about where to go or what to do, the staff offered great advice and helped with tour arrangements, too. If you are not a good walker, you might want to take a taxi back to the house as the road gets a bit steep for a few hundred feet, but I enjoyed the exercise! I would recommend highly - the rates for other houses in this community start at $300 per day.
This quaint cottage provides a comfortable retreat, including air conditioning, embracing the local flavor of Manuel Antonio. Upon arrival we were greeted with fresh local tropical flowers. The private porch offered comfortable rocking chairs and a wonderful view of the lush greenery and periodic sitings of monkeys and toucans. The staff were responsive and eager to offer suggestions, as well as make any reservations needed. The kitchen even had koosies for beer.
We enjoyed the local farmer's market on Friday evening and the Band Competition Carnival on the Saturday we were there. Of course the MA National Park was amazing! We dined at Ronny's Place and celebrated a marvelous sunset with delicious local sangria.
If you like private and convenient, this is the place for you!
Even before our arrival the concierge service at Manuel Antonio Estates had provided outstanding service! They scheduled our activities from a comprehensive list of things to do in the area, arranged transportation to and from the estates, and were prompt and courteous with all email and phone communications. Even though our arrival was delayed they were there to welcome us and orient us to the area and the Chalet. During our stay they were only a phone call away for dining recommendations, questions, and reservations assist.
The Chalet was charming! Nestled in the woods, it was quiet and yet a convenient walk to town. The house was supplied with the basics necessary for a stay and we enjoyed making our breakfasts each day.
The town had a variety of places to eat and purchase food stuffs. The day we arrived there was a farmers market and the fresh fruit was amazing! There were many vendors selling fruit, vegetables and hand-made goods.
Even though the jacuzzi is the focal point in the house, our favorite moments were mornings on the porch sipping coffee while being entertained by the monkeys and birds.
We were pleasantly surprised to find air-conditioning, wifi, and television! All in all, our stay was comfortable and we would recommend it to anyone who wishes to relax in a comfortable little house in the woods!
