My girlfriend and I chose to rent this property mainly due to the location, but when we stepped inside we realized it was truly perfect. It's better than the pictures could ever tell you. Read a few entries of the visitor log and you'll see what I mean. We're not ones for the golf course resort kind of places. The owner is very nice and the place is filled with all kinds of nice accents. Great feel to it. And the books of waterfalls and great hiking in the area was really handy. We didn't count on having that local info. We'll be back for sure!

Something you read out of a novel

...This review is well overdue! I booked this place for my boyfriends birthday and for a wedding at Table Rock. I cannot even begin to say how much we loved the place. I don't know why so many people described the outside as terrible. It was exactly as I expected a mountain "shack" to be. This place isn't for people looking for frills. But for us, it was perfect. Very cozy for such cold nights, there is the option for a wood stove if you are looking for an extra bit of warmth. The back door has a covered porch with a picnic table overlooking the creek. A perfect place for us to enjoy our home cooked breakfast. The inside is much bigger than the pictures show- there's a nice sitting room with cable tv if you are wanting to settle in for a movie. It is very close to hiking which we were able to enjoy as well. The only real downside was that it rained a lot so that we didn't get to enjoy a starry night or a bonfire outside. Overall I would say that this place was awesome. The only thing I would suggest to the owner is maybe putting the clean sheets in plastic while in storage. There seemed to be hair/dust on them when we got there. Other than that- the place was everything we could have hoped for. Also, I had some difficulty booking through VRBO but the owner was more than helpful and accommodating! We will definitely be back!

This property is exactly what we were looking for. It sits on several acres on a road just off the scenic Cherokee Highway. We were able to bring our dogs who loved it as well. It sits on this small flowing creek and is quite peaceful. We were interested in spending the weekend hiking, which we did and the location was perfect because it was ten minutes from Table Rock State Park (http://www.southcarolinaparks.com/tablerock/introduction.aspx), 10 minutes from the Jocassee (http://www.dnr.sc.gov/managed/wild/jocassee/_) and 1 hour from Brevard. The best was visiting all the waterfalls in Dupont State Forest (http://www.dupontforest.com/) about 40 minutes away. The cabin is named "The Shack" and is really cozy inside and clean. It has a wood burning fireplace inside. The only thing I would recommend to the owners is to modernize the pots, pans and kitchen utensils. For the price and the location this is a real deal. We will be returning in the future. The owner was very helpful while planning our stay and even stopped by to check on us while there.

I stayed here for the weekend with my two dogs so we could go hiking at the nearby state parks. The Shack has everything you need and is peaceful and relaxing. My dogs LOVED exploring the big yard. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone.
