Comfort and Space for a Family of Six

Family of Six from NH Hampstead NH
Review Submitted: July 25, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We have spent a week at Spruce Lodge for the past two years. The home is immaculate and well stocked with everything you could possibly need for a wonderful Maine vacation, including a lobster pot with its own propane burner and all the plates and utensil you need for a lobster dinner, (including the bibs!). We are a family with 4 kids under the age of 12 and there was plenty of room and things to do even when the weather was inclement. It is conveniently located near Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and Schoonic Peninsula. Hadley Point is a short walk and we were able to build a campfire and enjoy dinner right on the beach. .The owner is a pleasure to deal with and goes out of her way to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. We look forward to returning to Spruce Lodge.
Thank you for a wonderful vacation
Owner's Response: When you love it... I am so happy! When you come back...I am thoroughly honored! When you share your experiences of Maine and Spruce Lodge...I am beyond ecstatic!

It is a total joy for me to listen to people and hear what they need from a vacation AND a vacation home and to do my best to provide it to them!

With each year that goes by I try to get even more sensitive to your needs as travelers and it is so rewarding to hear that it is working!! Thank you so much!

We would love to have you stay with us soon.

Relax, Enjoy, Great place

recharged Rochester NH
Review Submitted: October 13, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
I just spent a fantastic long weekend Spruce Lodge at Hadley Point. Everything need was provided. The accommodations are set-up to make you so comfortable that it takes the breath taking beauty of Mount Desert Island and Acadia National park to drag you out the door. I would recommend this place to anyone. Don’t miss the Schoodic Peninsula. It’s so different then the other part of Acadia. Sunset at Hadley point right down the road is also something worth doing at the end of a fun day. Lorie, Thank-you so much for the care you provide your guests.

Our stay at Spruce Lodge June 8-14, 2008

Susan and Paul Arcata, CA, USA
Review Submitted: April 6, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2008
It was comforting to be able to return each day to this sweet cottage. Every inch was well appointed with charm and grace. Our needs were met with thoughtful consideration and care, from the selection of dishware to the decorated can of clothes pins. It was evident that someone with a talent to please had thoughtfully touched every inch to make our stay a pleasurable one.

We loved putting the freshly laundered sheets on the line. When we climbed into bed at night, the fragrant sea breezes would fill our senses and the sounds of the forest would flood our thoughts. Who knew that sheets dried on the line could bring such pleasure?

The time we spent at Spruce Lodge was one of peace and joy and a memory that we will treasure.

Note to the cleaning person: you do a very careful job. Everything was spotless.
Owner's Response: Thank you Susan and Paul for sharing your thoughts about Spruce Lodge! I know that you had a wonderful time there and we certainly look forward to your next visit!

We also appreciate the pictures and video that you shared with us.

We always welcome pictures of our guests, their life "back home" and any pictures that were taken while visiting Mount Desert Island and Acadia. Some of our best shots come from our guests so "keep them coming" and thank you for staying with us!

Happy Vacationing! Hope to See You Again Soon! Lorie

Nice place, tacky decorations - difficult owner

not a messy mom boston, ma.
Review Submitted: March 22, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
This is a fine house in a nice setting. However, I found the owner to be difficult and persnickety about every little detail, right down to where the folded blankets should be left and how the quilts needed to folded and a demand that I wash linens and towels before leaving and leave them in a certain place, stacked in a particular way. She has many Martha Stewart magazines around, which provided a clue to her tastes and requirements. A few days after we rented the cottage, I put in some wash and it was all ruined -- about $200 worth of clothing -- because of some kind of dye perhaps used by previous renters. (I didn't bother complaining, because the owner could not help this!) However, only half of my security deposit was returned by the owner, who complained that we had failed to properly put away an Aerobed and also, that the porch needed to be hosed down. (My friend had used some baby powder, some traces of which apparently remained on the porch.) She also claimed some chocolate stains on a carpet, but that is absurd since my children don't eat chocolate because of allergies. I would rent this home only if you are extremely clean, childless and can deal with a persnickety owner. Also, the internet connection that was promised, was extremely unreliable and complicated, so don't expect that to function adequately. ANd I'd ask about the washing machine situation as well.
Owner's Response: We strive to provide the utmost for the traveller's comfort and convenience and we take great pride (and pleasure) in the presentation and maintenance of our properties so that each guest feels incredibly pampered and special.

New features are added each season and this year we are upgrading to wireless internet service. We also provide information regarding the local internet cafes and the town of Bar Harbor's "free wifi location" on the town pier. Catch up on emails, watch all the maritime activities and enjoy some Maine Maple Walnut or Maine Blueberry ice cream -now that sounds like a makings of a fine afternoon experience!

Please call the owner for more detailed information and for any assistance with your vacation plans. Thank you.
