About Ken Jordan

We were invited to visit friends at their Lake Lure cottage in the summer of 2012. When we left we realized that Lake Lure was one of those special places in the world that deserved a second visit. Our second visit that following fall began a quest to find a second home there. The beauty of Lake Lure tucked amongst the mountains together with the peacefulness of the laidback attitude of the lakeside families was very appealing. During this quest we looked at many homes, each with their strong points and weak points. Finally in early 2013 we found the perfect lake home that met all of our wants and needs.

Ken Jordan purchased this house in 2013

Why Ken Jordan chose Lake Lure

The “Queen of the Lake” is the oldest winterized house on house on Lake Lure. Built in 1927, as Lake Lure was filling for the first time, this house was blessed with “great bones” and a full acre of lakefront views. Often older Lake Lure residents have commented that the builder of our home had his choice of any location on the lake, and he chose the best of all views. The first family to live in our house was the owner of a series of department stores in the South, and had built this house for family getaways. The most recent previous owners did a marvelous job of modernizing this home, gutted and re-built the kitchen, gutted and re-built the entire downstairs, added a lovely coffered ceiling to the great room, and expanded the decks. The top porch has been enclosed with glass and setup for year-round climate controlled use. The morning coffee on this porch is hard to beat.

We are excited about the opportunity to enjoy all the amenities that Lake Lure offers. We are from the coastal region of North Carolina and can now take full advantage of what the state of NC has to offer, from the coast to the mountains. We are happy about the opportunity to share in our great find.

What makes this house unique

The home is conveniently located half way between the town of Lake Lure and the Ingles Supermarket. It is located on the Lake where the main channel meets the heart of the Lake, offering views that are magical. There is ample parking right next to the house for easy access. Also there is a gently sloped walkway leading to the lake and boathouse. Once at the lake there is a conveniently located lakeside cabana with a functioning bathroom to save trips back to the house when nature calls. When the sun sets, the views from the boathouse deck are hard to beat. Everything is in place for a perfect vacation week.

Annual family Lake Lure visit

  • 5 of 5
This was our first fourth visit to Lake Lure and our first stay at "The Lady of the Lake" . Ken Jordan is an excellent and attentive property manager. Ken met us upon arrival and escorted us to the home and acquainted us with the property.
We loved the property- well appointed and enjoy's a great location. The home is situated on a high bluff with expansive views of the lake. We are already anticipating next summer and our return visit to "The Lady of the Lake".

Very Relaxing Vacation!

  • 5 of 5
The Queen of the Lake was an entirely peaceful vacation!
Ken was very accomodating upon our arrival and gave us a tour of the house. The kitchen is great! We had family dinners nightly. There were 6 of us and we were all quite comfortable. The house and boathouse had everything that we could possibly need. We rented a boat and went tubing and wakeboarding twice. They picked us up right at our dock.
AWESOME VACATION AND WOULD DEFINATELY RENT THIS HOME AGAIN!
Thanks!

Great House with Amazing View !!!

  • 5 of 5
We just held our family reunion at this house and everyone wants to book it again for next year. To start with the house has an absolutely amazing view in so many directions because it sits out on the point. Great view of the mountains as well as the lake. The first point I want to talk about is the deck area as we spent a large portion of our time out back. There is a lower deck that the little kids loved to jump off, with an adjoining ramp that went under a tree (which is where an adult would sit to watch them in the shade) as well as an upper deck that the teenage/college kids loved, especially for jumping off with an approximate 20 foot plunge to the lake. The kids would time it when the tour boats went by and several times they would call out to them for an encore performance (and they would oblige). There was also a toilet down by the docks so you did not have to hike back up to the house if the urge hit you (or the kids).
The back sun-room was also very popular as we spent time playing board games, reading or just general relaxing. The kitchen is up-to-date, and large and has everything you need, and we had some amazing meals there. A nice outdoor gas grill was well used. Most meals we split eating with half in the dining area of the great room, and the other half out on the upper deck by the house. Because the family got together from all over we had quite a few cars, but there was plenty of room to park by the house. Ask about the special rate for kayaks as I personally was out several times all over the lake as was my wife and the rest of the family and I would highly recommend it as an addition. It was really nice to just walk down to the boathouse to take the kayaks out (we had 2) and there were several early morning excursions on the water. The living accommodations were great and I loved the big shower downstairs. There were also a large number of board games provided, and two of the boys learned how to play Risk, Rummikub and Cathedral (strategy game) but many of the classic games were also there. My brother loved the hammock on the lower patio.
We climbed Chimney Rock one day, and on another we went down into Chimney rock, hiked, shopped and did the gem mining. We had a great dinner at Larkin's to celebrate several milestone birthdays and everyone absolutely loved the house (and the week). I would highly recommend this area (and this house) to anyone.

Our first, but not our last visit!

  • 5 of 5
The Queen of the Lake was a wonderful place for our family to celebrate the Fourth of July. The house is meticulously maintained and elegantly, but comfortably furnished. The setting offers breathtaking sunset views and the dock and boathouse offer hours of waterfront fun. The house is coneniently located to a supermarketand restaurants. We would not hesitate for one moment to bring our young children back for another memorable family vacation. The property manager was very accomodating and helpful. You won't regret treating yourself to a week at The Queen of the Lake.

Fantastic Memorial Day

  • 5 of 5
We spent Memorial week at Queen of the Lake with another family. It was a lovely vacation! The house was beautifully appointed. Even after seeing the pictures we were surprised at all that the house offered in activities and comfort. During the morning we, grown ups and children alike, would take turns waving at the tour boats as we jumped off the roof of the boat house. In the afternoon some of us would nap outside, while others went hiking. At night we loved cooking in the newly remodeled kitchen and eating on the deck as the sun went down. In comfortable beds we slept soundly, dreaming about the next adventure.

We were also thrilled with the real estate agent Ken. He ensured that we were never in need. I have never had an agent show such concern. He even found the book and water bottle my husband left at the boat house and mailed it to us with a sweet note of goodbye.

We hope to return again to the Queen of the Lake.
