Situated in the middle of 45, mostly wooded acres, this house was built in 2000. It features covered front and back porches that offer total privacy. Inside you will find an open floor plan with living room, dining room, and kitchen combined. The large living area includes an entertainment system, ceiling fan, and a wood-stove for chilly nights. Also on the first floor are two bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen bed and ceiling fan. The second bedroom contains two twins and a ceiling fan. There is a convenient bathroom with tub/shower between the bedrooms. A utility room, with a new washer and dryer, completes the ground level.

The second floor consists of a cozy loft and master bedroom. The loft overlooks the living area and is furnished with a futon and a comfortable reading chair. The master bedroom is roomy with a queen bed, lazy boy, TV, stereo, ceiling fan, and large bath. The view from the master bedroom is outstanding.

Life is Good Here

  • 5 of 5
Our family was looking for the out of the way kinda place to be able to enjoy time with the Grandchildren and it was found here. The house is large, neat, clean and very very comfortable. The backyard and porch just adds to the beauty. We did not find ourselves needing for a thing as the owners are most thoughtful and sincere. A place to be able to make lasting family memories.

Great adventure!

  • 5 of 5
This house is found in a very private, heavily treed area. There is a large barbeque area in the backyard and lots of board games inside. So it's a great family setting. It is about 10 miles outside Winchester and all the history offered by the Shenandoah Valley. It's about 70 miles from DC and 45 minutes from Harper's Ferry. We would highly recommend this VRBO especially for travellers interested in Civil War history.

We Found Heaven!

  • 5 of 5
We have stayed in several different homes in a number of different places, yet we have never felt as “at home” as we did at the Gore Getaway. For years, we have looked for that secluded place where we can relax as a family in true peace and quiet. Finally, we have found that place! The home is huddled in the woods and completely private. Our dogs were fully relaxed the entire stay and enjoyed their freedom of the large, well-fenced yard. The owners were very helpful and thoroughly answered our numerous, and sometimes silly questions. We packed very little and took the suggestion from the owners to stop at the nearby (about 11 miles) Wal-Mart to stock up – this worked fantastically! I’ve never been so relaxed when packing for a trip. Easter dinner was a snap as the kitchen is well-stocked with all the necessary provisions. There are nearby restaurants (Applebee's, IHop, Sonic, Anthony’s Pizza, and Diners) if you decide to venture away from the house (not that we did). Lots of books to read and games to play – the back porch is perfect for an afternoon of 500 Rummy while the dogs bask (harness and leash-free) in the back yard’s sunshine! We have a lot of lasting memories from this trip and we’ve already started talking about our next visit – we think the Gore Getaway is absolute heaven. Thank you for everything!

Our vacation

  • 2 of 5
You have the potential to have a lovely home. However, we found the house rather dirty. Items were left in the fridge, and floors are in need of a thorough cleaning. We did enjoy the quiet, and the porches. Just hate to see your house so neglected.

Visitors from Long Island, NY

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I, along with our two retrievers, spent a very pleasurable two weeks at Gore Get Away. Our children and grandchildren joined us for Memorial Day weekend. Wonderful memories were made that weekend. The trails, fire pit and porches were big hits!
Each of us, ages ranging from 1 yr to 70 yrs enjoyed our stay. The deer, rabbits, turtles and many beautiful birds added to the already welcoming environment. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need. Plenty of bath towels and sheets too. Our dogs enjoyed the freedom of the large fenced area. We enjoyed it so much that we've booked another 3 week stay this fall.
Thank you for sharing your home.

Vistors from WV

Our stay at the Gore Getaway was absolutely great! The dogs loved the fenced yard and was right at home and didn't miss a beat in playing and exploring. Being secluded in the woods, brought great bond fires, visitation from an eastern screech owl, many birds, squirrel's, and deers. The morning sunrise on the front porch spectacular. The house was very comfortable and we felt relaxed, got plenty of rest and so enjoyed the "Getaway"!
