Enjoy breathtaking views from this seaside cottage on the coast of Maine. Very private setting, yet close enough for day trips throughout the area. Meticulously clean and well-appointed, this cottage provides guests with a relaxing place to call home when not out touring.
Babbling Brook Cottage sits at the edge of Gouldsboro Bay which is painted with lobster buoys marking the traps to be hauled with the daily catch of Maine lobster. Kayaking and sailing are both options along this pristine shore, and the easy access to the water’s edge make for a perfect day of exploring the coastline.
This newly renovated cottage offers a master bedroom with a queen bed and patio door to view the incredible Easternmost sunrise in the United States; a second bedroom with two twin beds; a fully equipped kitchen; a dining area; a large living room with a queen size sleeper sofa for the occasional visitor during your stay, along with patio doors overlooking the ocean; full bathroom; washer and dryer; deck offering breathtaking views; satellite TV; local phone service.
Gouldsboro is located in the middle of the Downeast and Acadia regions of Maine. Acadia National Park and the Bar Harbor region are only a mere hour drive and Quoddy State Park is about two hours away – perfect day treks only to return to the peace and quiet of this seaside haven. Get lost in time on our expansive deck where peace and quiet are endless. It provides a most tranquil spot for reading, relaxing, or bird watching.
More urban shopping needs can be met in nearby Ellsworth. With only a half hour drive you will find a couple of “big box” stores, dining experiences for every palate, and a wonderful Main Street experience. Only ten minutes east you will find the small coastal community of Milbridge, which is home to a quaint supermarket, banks, a gas station, two restaurants, a pharmacy, and an old time movie theater featuring new releases.

My husband and I, along with our family really enjoyed the time spent at
the cozy cottage in Maine. We slept well in the very comfortable beds
while there. The price offered was reasonable and affordable for us and
we were pleasantly surprised at all the amenities included (i.e. extra
bottled waters available, food in the pantry, shampoo to use, new bar of
soap, laundry soap w/ washer and dryer usage, linens and towels
provided, pots and pans, including a lobster pot available for use, and
the list goes on.) We could smell the salt of the sea and enjoyed a bit
of exploring the rocks before the tide came in. We enjoyed taking a walk
down the road and even met some of the friendly neighbors. We wanted to
thank you for all the work that went into making our stay as pleasant as it turned out to be.
Babbling Brook cottage is an amazing little getaway. It's away from the hubbub of Bar Harbor, but still close enough to MDI to be convenient. The views are spectacular and the house well appointed and cozy. We had a fantastic honeymoon there last week! We love Gouldsboro bay!
This is a lovely property. The area is quiet and secluded, and the view of the bay is stunning. The cottage is well maintained and recently renovated - painted, decorated, etc. It really is a perfect getaway for those wanting to explore Down East Maine. The kitchen is stocked with all the equipment you would need for a longer stay (except perhaps a dishwasher), although we only stayed two nights while attending a wedding.
Although the listing says it sleeps 6, I think that could be a little close unless your party is a large family. The convertible bed is in the living room, so no privacy there. The bathroom was obviously remodeled recently and is very nice. My only complaint was lack of light over the sink for makeup etc. As I mentioned to the property manager, my eyes are old!
All in all, very charming! Especially enjoyed the large deck overlooking the water. And it's so quiet there!
Words don't even describe how beautiful the location and this little cottage are! Our family had a wonderful time being able to relax and enjoy the serenity of this heaven on Earth! The nights are so very quite and the mornings (for those early risers) have the wonderful opportunity to see the local fishermen checking their lobster traps! We loved everything about it and hope to return. The booking process was easy & the property is in excellent condition!
Peaceful, quiet getaway with everything included that you could possibly need. Clean, well-maintained and comfortable. Perfect location - away from the crowds at Acadia but close enough to enjoy it. The main part of Acadia is nice, but be sure to hit the portion on the Schoodic Peninsula. No crowds, great views, no fee and much closer. Nichole was a great host and always reachable. She'll tell you where to pick up fresh lobsters right off the boat (two 1.5 pounders for $14!) Had fantastic lobster rolls (with butter - not mayo!) at The Galley, a family run eatery in Sullivan right by the bridge. Dad catches the lobsters (right next to the restaurant), the daughters serve and grandma makes a blueberry pie worth dying for. The only thing we could have used at the cabin was a wifi internet connection so we could have planned out our daily excursions a little better. But it was also good to be "disconnected" from the rest of the world. We would recommend to anyone wanting a good taste of Downeast Maine. Already missing the sounds of the lobster boats checking their pots on the bay…
Truly enjoyed the stay at the cabin. We enjoyed the location and all that came with it. Our kids played on the rocks and watched the tide daily. The neighbors were all very nice. The house had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with what we needed. Our only suggestions would be to provide WiFi to help us plan our activities better and better water pressure would have been helpful. Otherwise, this house had all that we needed.
This place is really cute. Its right on the water so makes for a very peaceful, serene stay. The house is very well maintained and comes equipped with enough kitchen, bath and bedding items. Has a very big patio and balcony to spend time outdoor. Its perfect for 4 people. The photo do not do justice to its bright and comly decor.
Note - since the place is in deep woods.. you may want to bring along bug guards and mosquito repellants.
