We just loved this villa! What a perfect place to stay! All age groups enjoyed it including 70 year old grandparents, 40 something parents (us!), and two college aged boys. The villa was spread out enough for privacy, but roomy enough for us all to enjoy the family room and dining area together. The pool was right outside the villa so it could not have been more convenient! The bikes were a lot of fun, and such a treat since we don't have them at home. It is a great area for riding with wide flat streets and very little traffic.
The beaches on Seabrook are the best I have been to in the U.S. They are just perfect! Wide, flat beaches with very few shells, and nice warm, water (even in early June) with calm waves and an even ocean floor to wade out on. I understand that many people find sand dollars and starfish, and although we did not, we did find a couple of little conches. I would say the only drawback to the beaches is the long walk down the boardwalk followed by a short trek over the dunes. By experience, however, we determined that the best option is to drive over to the boardwalk down on Oyster Catcher near the POA owners community center, and park in the cement area on the side of the road. Do not park in the parking lot since it is just for owners. There are port a potties about halfway down the boardwalk, and a dog walking area on the beach to the left. Otherwise, the beach is awesome with very few people and lots of room!
There are lots of great restaurants nearby, and Kathy is great with her list of which ones to try! We loved Red's Icehouse and Rosebank Farms Cafe!
Between the beach, bike riding, the pool and nearby restaurants there is really no reason to leave the island! But, if you love Charleston like I do, there is a destination with charm enough to draw you away from the magic of Seabrook! Take a day trip, or two, to Charleston to enjoy the history and charm of this quaint and beautiful place which I rank at the top of my list of favorite places in the world!! The historic homes in Charleston are just beautiful, and in the spring and summer are enhanced by all the plants which grow and bloom in every courtyard, and window box, and over many a trellised garden and gate! The best ways to enjoy this town are on foot, or by horse-drawn carriage with camera in hand!
All in all a fantastic area to visit, with fun and beauty all around, great ocean breezes and sunsets, easily accessible from Sealoft Villa! Thanks Kathy!!
