Designed in 1954 by the celebrated architect Gene Leedy, this three-bedroom house with a pool is a perfect example of American Mid-Century Modern architecture. Lovingly restored and furnished by the owner/designer Robert Kaiser, it has featured in numerous books, magazines and television shows.
The house takes the form of two separate wings divided by a pool and hot tub. Part of the Sarasota School of Architecture, this home defines a style that suites the warm Florida climate and lush landscape. Oversized sliding glass doors, allowing the traditional boundary between outside and in to disappear, and a 8’ wall surrounding the property creates your own private paradise. While there are many local attractions, this enchanting home and property creates an atmosphere that you won’t want to leave.
Additionally this home has a generous selection of Modern Books on Architecture, Furniture, and Graphic Design by such designers as Eames, Neutra, Paul Rudolph, Eero Saarinen, Pierre Koening, as well as other Case Study House Designers, and Bauhaus designers such as Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier amoung others.
Other modern architectural attractions in the area include Florida Southern College in Lakeland (about half an hour drive) which houses the largest collection of Frank Llloyd Wright buildings in one location. Historic Bok Tower Gardens is only a fifteen minute drive and Disney and Universal and Sea World are approx. 30min drive.
