Overview

Lake Norman House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-9)

This beautiful, comfortable A-frame on Lake Norman is ideal for a relaxed and enjoyable family vacation. The den is large with very comfy leather furniture just right for napping or cuddling. The well equipped kitchen has granite counter tops and ice in the door refrigerator. It is located in the heart of the home, so the cook doesn't sacrifice time with family and friends. However, if cooking is not your idea of vacation time well spent, there are many nice restaurants in the area.

Outside, the lakefront upper deck is 500 square feet and has seated dining for 6 as well as a gas grill and additional seating for soaking up the sun. The equally large patio under the deck features, an additional table with seating for 4, and a comfortable seating area for shade lovers.

Step down to the water with the little ones and catch some bream, catfish and bass- or go swimming from the large floating dock! The waters of Lake Norman are clean and at a comfortable swimming temperature from Memorial Day until mid-September. We have personally enjoyed swimming as late as mid-October. While you're there, put the canoe or one of the kayaks in the water and go exploring the quiet coves and watch the wild life. There are Osprey, Blue Heron and Egret in abundance, and the occasional Golden Eagle can be seen.

If the weather is cold and yucky, just curl up in front of the fireplace and watch a movie on the 50' flat screen television. Just relax and enjoy!

We regret that we cannot allow groups of more than 10 at any time. No parties or events are permitted at this house. Absolutely no pets or smoking at any time.

About The Owner

We are a clergy couple in the Western NC conference of the United Methodist Church and are currently serving in Mooresville, NC . We love our Lake Norman home and all the activities that go along with it! We love to boat, swim, fish and just relax and enjoy.

The Owner purchased this house in 2008

Why The Owner chose Lake Norman

While we were serving in Charlotte, we desired a quiet place to be able to get away from the demands of ministry and we so we purchased the lot in 2003. In 2008, we built this home to live in as long as we were in the area, but also as a retirement home. We have accepted an appointment in a new community, so now we are renting our home to others who, hopefully, will love and enjoy it as we do.

What makes this house unique

We are avid boaters while at Lake Norman, and not just during the summer season. While swimming, water skiing and tubing are great, we have found that the autumn leaves are as beautiful along the lake shore as they are in the mountains. We enjoy dressing for the weather and cruising slowly while admiring the bright colors of fall. Winter is the prime time to catch striped bass, and that is one of Rick's favorite activities.

Spring Break 2013

  • 4 of 5
We decided to come to Lake Norman for a relaxing spring break for the kids. It was a great experience even though the rain kind of dampened our plans, but there were plenty of games and movies on the TV for 4 teenagers. Your home was very warm and inviting and most of all I loved the deck off the master suite. The pictures does not do this home any justice. And the pier..the kids loved it. Thank you so much for opening your home up to us!!!

Quiet Retreat

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I, like the owners, are both pastors. We needed a BREAK! And we found it in this home. Quiet, relaxing, comfortable. The pictures don't do it justice.
Owners were responsive to everything, before and during our stay. The house was lovely, spacious, and warm. We enjoyed the deck, the dock, and the yard, as well as games and of course, couch time!
The kitchen was well suited for all our needs and more (we ate out a lot). Which reminds me, we do recommend Stacy's at the corner of 16 and Untouchables Pizza Bar (which has a lot more) at the corner of 16 and 150.
Thank you so much for opening your home and sharing it with us. We plan to visit again. Blessings!

Vegans in Family

The three deerheads mounted in the pixs are the beginning. Uncomfortable comments from many of my family regarding ALL OVER,EVERY WALL. Place was clean and worth the price although I won't return without improvements. The pier and dock are in great need of repair. Both are in almost unusable condition. We suffered cuts and gouges from exposed bolts, trips from exposed nailheads, falls from worn and slippery gangway, and splinters from the exposed timbers on the dock. On a few days of our visit when we had a large group gathered at the water I was instructing people to move the chairs to the ouside edges because the dock was sinking to the middle. In keeping with my character I left the place in good order for the next occupant and with a FULL propane tank. No one smoked in the house and I required my teenagers to pick up any butts found anywhere on the property. We chose a hot week SOOO I watered the flowers around the house.

Owner's Response: At this time we choose to use VRBO to offer others a chance to enjoy our beautiful Lake Norman while the UMC has us serving in Etowah, N.C. Our home is set up like a hunting lodge displaying many of the trophies I have harvested over the years. It is a reminder of great days in the woods and fields of North Carolina. For some it may offend and others, it will delight. It is a symbol of our way of life. The pier will be replaced in the coming year. We have maintained it and will continue to do so until then. The house, property and especially the pier are not designed for large groups. The information states that this rental is designed for nine or less. We have made exceptions on special occasions and will do in the furure. We love this house and enjoy the chance to let others love it as well.
April 2013: The Pier and Floating Dock have been Replaced. We still want to keep this a family retereat and do not allow large group. RDA

Can't recommend enough!

Can't recommend enough!

My family (including two daughters) rented this house for a week to attend a wedding nearby. We came from across the country, very unfamiliar with the area. We were SO lucky to hit the jackpot with this house! It's so much better than we could have imagined. The photos just don't do it justice it's that great! It was well equipped to host our little group. We cooked lots of meals in that well equipped kitchen, used the grill outside, and enjoyed the property, inside and out. The rooms were comfortable, and the home was very welcoming.
The home was very clean and well maintained (the owner told me he had just stained the deck!), and had plenty of supplies to help us keep it that way.

It was everything we wanted and more, and if we ever have an opportunity to return to this beautiful area, we'd certainly want to stay in this lovely home again.

And...Giovanni's Restaurant nearby provided delicious food when we just didn't feel like cooking. It's nearby and we recommend that too!

This is a beautiful, comfortable home.

Your home is very beautiful. It was a very nice place for three, over 60, high school friends to get together. We enjoyed just sitting on the decks, patio, in the hot tub or in the great room chatting and catching up on each of our lives. The kitchen was well equiped and a nice place for our meals. We enjoyed the area as well. We ate at several local restaurants, including the Captain's Cap, Stacy's, and we took a wonderful dinner cruise at the Queen's Landing on the 90' luxury Yacht. I would recommend this home to others.

Lake Norman Vacation

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time at your house! It was just right for our family vacation (7 adults, 1 child). It was nice having access to the water from the backyard. Very nice being in a cove on the lake as well! I would definitely recommend this home to renters! Thanks for letting us enjoy your home!

Nascar fans, this is the place for you! Just a short drive to many of the race shops, 45 minutes from Lowes Motor Speedway. The new and exciting Nascar Hall of Fame is 20 miles away in downtown Charlotte just around the corner from Carolina Panthers Stadium and Charlotte Bobcats arena. The Lazy 5 Ranch (a drive through wild animal park with horse drawn wagon rides available!) is about 30 minutes away between Mooresville and Salisbury and is a wonderful family outing. There are several NC Wineries in the region within a reasonable drive, and most offer tours as well as tastings. The Mint Museum in Charlotte and the Levine Museum of the New South are wonderful outings for adults. Both are located in downtown Charlotte. Check out the website for the Blumenthal Theatre in Charlotte if you enjoy live theatre. Many famous broadway productions are presented at this sumptuous downtown theatre. So much to do, and on the lake too!
