This charming apartment is located in the eastern part of the 12th arrondissemont, which contains no major tourist attractions, but is a lively, typically Parisian neighborhood. (And a short walk to the Marais.) There are a number of excellent restaurants nearby as well as the highly-rated Aligre market and one of the best boulangeries just across the street (yum!) There are also several excellent supermarkets within a short walking distance for those who wish to take advantage of the well-equipped kitchen in the apartment, or just stock up on breakfast items or snacks.
The apartment itself is spacious and comfortably furnished with plenty of storage space. Some reviewers have commented on the firmness of the bed(s) in the second bedroom but our guests found them comfortable. Another positive aspect of the apartment is that it is very quiet, considering it is in the heart of a busy city.
The hosts were friendly and helpful, eager to provide information on transportation, restaurants, etc. And any questions or minor problems were addressed immediately. In addition to the available wi-fi, there is a telephone which can even be used for international calls (within certain limits.)
We have been to Paris a number of times and when we come back again we would love to return to this apartment!
The flat was lovely. Very clean and comfortable but the best part of this rental were the owners....Mariette and her husband did a wonderful job explaining the many things to do in the neighborhood and we were not disappointed when we tried the recommended restaurants. The flat is centrally located within walking distance of the Metro and 2 blocks from Gare de Lyon. Mariette went out of her way to try to assist us with a problem we encountered with my daughters Paris internship rental and for that we are most grateful. Merci beaucoup Mariette! We hope to see you again soon....
Three of us (sisters and sister-in-law) stayed in the charming flat for 8 nights. The apartment is beautifully decorated with comfortable furniture, a wide assortment of books and lovely original art. It was a welcoming refuge after a busy day of museums, walking and shopping. The location is convenient and it was an easy walk to the heart of Paris and very close to the Metro. The gracious owners provide a helpful guide to the neighborhood|: restaurants, shopping, Aligre Market, and, best of all, wonderful patisseries and boulangeries.
I am recommending this flat to friends and family and would be thrilled to return myself.
We took this apartment for two weeks in June 2013 because of its proximity to the Bastille Opera. It would be a five to ten minute stroll. The apartment, as you can see from the pictures, is like a home away from home and has everything you'd need, including wifi, dishwasher and washing machine. There are artworks, lots of books (in French) and the owner was good enough to put out some opera CDs for me. There's a piano too. It doesn't take long until you feel you're living like a local, and it's a good base for getting around Paris (Ledru-Rollin, Bastille metros and Gare de Lyon station nearby, or walk along the Coulée verte or to the Marais, etc). And the apartment is surprisingly quiet. I've stayed in Paris a number of times, and this is the quietest place I've stayed. The boulangerie close by is excellent for daily bread needs. The nearby Aligre outdoor market is excellent for fruit, vegetables, cheese, olives, etc, or just sit outside a cafe and people-watch. There's a supermarket near the Ledru-Rollin metro, and a number of other shops. In any case, there is an information folder in the apartment that gives all this sort of information in detail, including very good recommendations for local bars and restaurants. I recommend this apartment and would definitely stay here again. C'est génial!
My brother, sister and I were lucky enough to stay at this apartment for 8 days in November. The space is beautiful, clean and quiet and provides an ideal base from which to explore Paris. You will have everything you need, including a lovely living room, TV and CD player, a fully stocked kitchen (pots and pans, dishes and glasses, coffee maker ) with washing machine and dishwasher, and a beautiful big bathroom. The apartment is on the 4th floor, and there is a very small elevator that deposits you right outside your door. The owners are wonderful people who helped us with our bags and provided a comprehensive book that details everything you need to know about the apartment plus recommendations for dining in the neighborhood. The neighborhood itself is terrific - excellent restaurants and shopping within steps of your front door. We walked to the wonderful farmer's market three blocks away and cooked a couple of dinners at home, and every morning dashed across the street to the wonderful boulangerie for lovely pastries. By the end of our stay we were on a first name basis with the waiters at the corner bistro!
There are two metro stops within a very short distance. It was so nice to return home from a long day of sightseeing with a bottle of wine from the corner store and relax in the lovely, book lined living room.
I would wholeheartedly and without reservations recommend this apartment to anyone who is traveling in a group of 3 to 4. I hope to return soon to Paris, and this is where I'll stay!
My friend and. I spent one month in this apartment. The location was great. It is close to the grocery store, bakery, restaurants, shopping, metro, Post office, bank and railroad station. It was very well equipped and nicely appointed and we never needed a thing. We did a lot of sightseeing and walking everyday but when we walked through the big doors from the bustling street into the courtyard at night , it was totally quiet and peaceful....the respite we needed. The queen sized bed is comfortable ( mine) but my friend endured a much less comfortable twin bed. There is Internet but the service is not great so we relied on our cellular data much of the time. ( minor stuff). The owners are delightful and when the tv didn't work, they arrived in 10mintues after we called them to get it up and running again. Overall, it was perfect for us and I would highly recommend this apartment and I would definitely rent it again.
