Totally redone home on East Grand Traverse Bay with Canoe and Kayak, sports, new a/c and loaded with activities on 150' of Grand Traverse Bay Sand beach frontage. Guest house almost completed. Very private!
Enjoy the breathtaking sunsets while roasting marshmallows and walk the beach for miles in each direction. The water gets nice and warm in the bay so bring the watertoys and swimsuits because that's all you'll need here. The property is very private with towering pines surrounding you.
The 2 sided split stone fireplace is the center piece of the home which was featured in Grand Traverse Magazine. This is a great escape with many new upgrades. Granite countertops, wood floors, stone floors, NEW stainless steel appliances, and an open, airy floorplan will make you feel comfortable and welcome. How are you going to leave this place?

I purchased this home in 2006 and have put a lot of love and labor into making it a special place up north. There's so much peacefulness to enjoy here. I love waking up to the sound of the surf, walking the beach, and just hanging out on the deck and not hearing a sound aside from birds, water and trees blowing. I will do everything in my power to make this a special place for you and your family.
The Owner purchased this house in 2006
I love this Paradise between Traverse City (Elk Rapids) and Charlevoix. There are lots of local farmers for your fresh produce. Great, kind people in this area is the one thing I love the most. I have been here for over 15 years and still LOVE the Bay the most. I love walking the beach and the sunsets are amazing. GT Bay will always be special to me. Lots of morels and whitefish in the spring too.
You will enjoy swimming, walking, canoeing, kayaking, basketball, birdwatching, biking, relaxing, playing games and spending time with family. Drive up to the local farm markets for locally grown fruits and veggies. The list of things to enjoy is endless.
"The photos don't do your home justice. We loved it and it was perfect for our family. Love the privacy and cleanliness of the home. You can tell a lot of love and attention was put into this place. We'll be back!"
This property was larger than we expected, with beautiful views! The beach was also very nice for kids, with a sandy bottom. Some of the other homes along the same road had marshy or rocky beaches, or had dune grass that went all the way to the water line last summer. The kayak and canoe were also very fun for us to use and paddle out on to the lake at night. We stayed the last week of June last, and unfortunately, had an unseasonably cold week, but we enjoyed going in to town to the Elk Lake beach, which was much warmer than Lake Michigan itself that time of year. My kids also enjoyed having the paved driveway to ride their scooters. One of the best things about this property were the beds- all of them were very comfortable with upscale linens. I would recommend this property to anyone and we will definitely consider visiting again.
This is truly a wonderful home and property. Truth be told, I am reluctant to tell anyone about this property because I don't want to share. That would be selfish and the world already has too much of that nonsense. We had a wonderful week at this cottage and look forward to returning many times over. As stated by another reviewer the property is nicer than pictures. The home is well kept, with all the amenities of your own home. The beach and sunsets are breath taking. Families with young children can play peacefully, while the more adventurous have access to a beautiful pristine bay and all the adrenaline your imagination and water toys can elicit. As consumers we rely on the candour of others. Driving to unseen vacation spots can be unsettling: Is it a dump? Will it be worth the money? Are their serial killers living next door? None of these concerns applied to this home and property. Rent away and create wonderful memories; truly a piece of heaven in northern Michigan.
House was very clean. Nice hard wood floors and perfect furniture. All bedding was comfortable and fresh. Kitchen was a delight to cook and entertain in. Wonderful seating area in living room overlooking Lake Michigan sunsets and Old Mission Peninsula. No issues no complaints. I will rent this place again.
I want to write this review keeping in mind what we were looking for when we booked this rental to better assist your decision making. While I could wax on how terrific the week was, let’s face it. I was on vacation. Vacation is supposed to be great.
First off, do not judge this rental by the photos. They are not a good representation of how nice the place is. When you enter the property from the secluded road, the drive winds past tall birch and pines that are just beautiful. My daughter said, “This looks like the place Bambi was born!”. We arrived at the cottage and from the exterior it looked humble, understated and best of all, private. The property boasts two fabulous decks from where we witnessed some of the most stunning sunsets I’ve ever seen. The cottage itself was a pleasant surprise too. My best description would be that it’s the old cottage your parents took you to for summer vacations when you were a kid, updated with all new amenities. The renter refreshed the home while keeping that old cottage charm. Anderson replacement windows bring in fresh air and the dark pine walls have been painted a bright cream color. Very expensive Indian Sunset Slate in the foyer and kitchen meet old original hardwood oak floors with character. The Kitchen and master bath are equipped with high line new cabinets, granite counter tops and new stainless appliances. And I defy you to find a rental with Ralph Lauren bedroom linens!
The bonus of a new high efficiency wash & Dryer are a big plus. Nothing better than coming home from vacation and not having piles of laundry.
The only negative I perceived and I didn’t notice this until a month after I booked is that the cottage does not have AC. HOWEVER— We were there for a record week of high temps and the cottage stayed comfortable. The tall trees and breeze from the bay kept the cottage cool. I would also recommend that you bring water shoes as the water is rocky when you first get in. That may be a turn off to some, but the plus side to that is the hours of fun we had combing the beach for Petoskey stones. We found a bunch!
We highly recommend staying at this cabin. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was so clean (we're very picky about this), very authentic, but modern and private. The cabin is well stocked for all that is needed. It was perfect for us - 3 nice bedrooms, functional, modern kitchen, great living area and terrific decks overlooking the bay. It was so nice listening to the waves and enjoying some real privacy but also being close to elk rapids shops and nearby farm stores. We spent lots of time watching sunsets, swimming at the beach, roasting smores over the outdoor fire pit, boating and, best of all, just relaxing with the family. This place provided just what we ALL needed.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at your cottage on the lake. The location is perfect both close to Elk Rapids and Traverse City, yet quiet and right on the bay. We visited wineries near Traverse City and loved all the art shops in Elk Rapids.
The cottage is spacious with 3 bedrooms, a large modern kitchen, and 2 decks. Lots of board games for evenings after watching the sunset over the bay. Loved the quiet beach and fire pit to roast hot dogs. We will return soon.
