Overview

Lords Valley House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-12)

Defined by woodland seclusion and the natural beauty of its setting, this mountain retreat is an escape from the madding world. Multiple sliding doors and tall windows invite the outside in; a broad, wraparound deck provides plenty of outdoor living space. The recently renovated kitchen adjoins a screened porch; a wood-burning stove with stone hearth in the spacious common living area is the gathering spot on chilly evenings. In addition to two bedrooms and a full bath on the main level, the second-floor loft—accessed via a spiral staircase—has two more bedrooms and a second full bath

As part of Hemlock Farms, a gated community, the house offers a variety of recreational opportunities. Amenities include four lakes, a swimming pool (with lessons provided for children), tennis and racquetball courts, and trails for hiking. Outside the community there are venues for whitewater rafting, horseback riding and paintball. Winter recreation includes skiing, snowmobiling and tubing.

Just a half-mile from the house, the Steer Barn Recreational Center features an Olympic-size indoor pool, fitness center, hot tub, sauna, pool and ping-pong tables. A Teen Center offers chaperoned events for teenagers.

Wood for the fireplace MUST be purchased and is available at the following prices. $50 for 1/4 cord, $75 for 1/2 cord & $150 for a full cord. Please contact James Anderson (570 470-1059)in advance so that the wood can be delivered.

About Cindy Ramsay

Cindy Ramsay is both a realtor & mortgage banker in her work life. This home has been in her family for 30 some years. She remembers going there every summer learning to swim & play tennis. She & her family still use the house themselves from time to time.

Cindy Ramsay purchased this house in 1975

Why Cindy Ramsay chose Lords Valley

My mother originally chose this house as something different than the beach. She felt it had alot more activities to offer in the private setting of a gated community. We would bring all of our school friends up to the mountain house & teach them to swim, dive, ski & snowmobile. We have very fond memories of this house :)

What makes this house unique

The feeling of being in the middle of the woods yet still having the safety of a gated community is one of the unique features of this house. The house is perched high on a cliff with 3 sliding glass doors overlooking the view. The house is far away from the street so there is extreme privacy.

Great Ski Weekend !!!

  • 5 of 5

Cindy Thank You So Much for all you've done for us.

The house was really magic. Especially at night , as if you look from the bottom of the hill and see it all lighten up on top & hidden in the woods (looks like castle) !!! It is really magic.

Inside was nice and clean . The brand new kitchen and all the kitchen ware came in handy!

The fireplace made it nice and warm. The location of the house is also perfect..

About 3 minutes drive from the main community gate, 5 minutes walk to recreational center.

All the grocery , food & pharmacy shopping is just outside the main community gate as well.

We had a lot of fun at Ski Big Bear @ Masthope Mountain community , which is only 25 minutes drive from Hemlock Farms(ask Cindy for directions). Ski Big Bear has a great ski trails, brand new lodge, the rental equipment is brand new.

Overall the weekend was great.

Looking forward to coming back there in the summer.

P.S.:

Also wanted to mention that it was really easy to deal with Cindy. She has great communication skils.

She was always there for us when we needed her.

Thanks again.

Renters Beware

  • 1 of 5

BLOOD was on the drapes in a downstairs and upstairs bedrooms! The furnishings left a lot to be desired, and current condition of same were clearly not reflected in the online photos (in my opinion). They were dilapidated throughout. There were huge chips in the veneer of the bedroom furniture on the main level. A cushion on a small stool in that room too filthy to sit on! Toppers on the dressers were old and needed a cleaning. The arms of a living room couch had holes on both sides. The couch itself seemed to be in need of a cleaning! When I lifted the runner off the dining room table to clean it, it was a mess!

The beds were supposed to have clean sheets when we arrived, and did not. We washed the sheets that were on the bed, put them back on, and had to wash the sheets again when we left. You will have to bring firewood up from under the deck, and when it is frozen, that is not easy.

The owner insisted on having the full rental amt months before we were to arrive. Once we got there, I saw why. We had to leave the rental property early because we couldn't get any sleep with the flying squirrels. We asked Cindy to just refund one day's rental fee, and she refused too! I would never stay at this home again!! We were exhausted from our vacation there, and really had looked forward to the brief break in our otherwise hectic lives!! Renters BEWARE!!!

Owner's Response: My cleaning crew is very thorough & they leave the house spotless as mentioned in previous reviews. The furniture that is pictured in the photos is the exact furniture that is in the house. In fact, the house is in better shape than the photos as we just refinished the hardwood floors last year. The sheets on the beds are always checked by the cleaning crew that has been with me for many years. I give the guests the option of bringing their own sheets or using ours & washing them before departure. From the beginning, these clients had trouble remembering what was said as far as prices & procedures were concerned. I had to re-forward many emails to them b/c they couldn’t remember that I had sent them nor could they remember the information contained in them. I explained that firewood would be placed inside the house to get them started & that the refill of wood would be on the back porch. I can’t store a whole cord of wood inside nor is this a hotel where staff can bring in wood from the back porch. As far as taking full rental payment in advance, this is the standard policy with most rentals. The clients rented at one of the busiest times of the year. When you only have one product to sell, the only way to be sure that you don’t lose business is to take payment in full upfront. These customers spilled something on the drapes & tried to blame it on us so they wouldn’t be charged out of their security deposit. I didn’t end up charging them anything. Please beware of renting to tenants like these people. They clearly don’t understand that they were renting a house in the woods (even though the pictures & description state as such). There is no way I can control the wildlife (i.e. flying squirrels). Part of the charm of this place is being one with nature.

This house was the perfect getaway for our ski trip. The house is exactly as described, well stocked, comfortable and accommodating. The owner was extremely helpful and responsive. The house easily slept 10 of us and had everything we needed. Close to several ski mountains and other outdoor activities. A+ and would definitely rent again!

Great Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had an awesome time at this property. The house is clean and well stocked. We loved the big deck as well as the fire-pit outside. The kitchen is great and recently updated, and it had everything we needed for our stay.

We also enjoyed alot of activities that the community had to offer. The clubhouse is very close to the house, we even walked there.

Overall, a great stay and we really enjoyed dealing with the owner, who was very helpful pre-stay as well as during our stay at the property.

Perfect Retreat House

  • 5 of 5

We had been searching for a place to go away, relax and retreat for a few days. After searching several places we found this house and let me tell you it was great. The rental process was simple and owner was very amicable, helpful & attentive to our needs.

The drive from Philly was good, the scenery was beautiful and the view from the house was awesome. The house is very accommodating & spacious, It has all you need for the weekend stay and if you forgot something the shopping center is only 5 minutes away! (Loved that too) We also loved the fact that it included 6 passes to the community's recreational building where they have a big indoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room & game room. This was a huge plus for us!!

We highly recommend this house to everyone, Trust Me, You Will Love It!!

Great Rental

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from staying at this rental last week. It was a great place to spend a week in the summer. It was a good location in the community; close to workout facility, pools and beaches. My kids went to the Fawn Hill Day Camp each day which gave my husband and I time to explore hiking outside of Hemlock Farms. There are lots of great waterfalls close by to explore. As for the house, it totally met our needs. The kitchen and bathrooms were updated. I would recommend it for families with kids.
