Photos and Description of the Asheville vacation house rental
2 large bedrooms, 1 bath, sleeps 6

Green Gables of Asheville, restored by the Interior Designer/Owner, recalls the elegance of bygone days. Each of the two large bedrooms has its own wood-burning fireplace and seating area. The house, furnished with elegant 1920s antiques and chandeliers, has restored heart pine floors throughout and a third working fireplace in the living room. Green Gables is CLOSE TO EVERYTHING - so take a break from sightseeing or shopping to relax on the huge (600 sq. ft.) wrap-around porch. Sit in a romantic swing overlooking manicured gardens or dine al fresco on the veranda. On balmy summer evenings, watch the moon rise and soak up the relaxing, candlelight atmosphere. There’s a large flat screen TV w/ cable & DVD and the CD player is ipod ready. You can stay in touch with hi-speed wifi internet & free long distance phone. Free continental breakfast provided.

Gourmet Kitchen: The large kitchen has all new appliances and a gas grill just outside – perfect for preparing gourmet meals. The kitchen is stocked with all kinds of breakfast items, including gourmet coffees & teas, cereals, frozen pastries & breakfast entrees, pancake mix & syrup, fresh fruit, milk & butter, condiments & spices. Enjoy a free continental breakfast in your jammies, or walk/drive to a nearby art café for a full breakfast.

Dog Friendly, Family Friendly: Dogs are welcome – the yard & veranda are fenced & gated and there is a large dog park not far away. There are many activities for children too – games and movies in the home, the nearby Western North Carolina Nature Center, a fishing dock not far away on the banks of the French Broad River, and family oriented canoeing, tubing, rafting through the Biltmore Estate as well as gem mining near the Estate. Teenagers might like the skateboard park, which is a 30-minute walk from the house. The home also has everything for babies – cribs, high chairs, baths & swings. The DVD library of 90 great films includes many children's movies - the guest book has a synopsis of each movie.

Central Location Close to Everything: Lots of amazing antique stores (bargain prices!) are only 5 minutes away. The central location in a vibrant urban neighborhood is within easy reach of everything you want to see and do. Keep fit by walking to one of the best clay tennis courts in the US or at the YWCA (award-winning architectural design.) Golf courses are a short drive away. There’s an organic grocery store just beyond the tennis courts, or shop daily at nearby farmers markets (hours & locations provided.) The area has great places to ride bikes - flat terrain or hilly. Bring your own bike or rent one at a nearby bike shop. The guest information book provides information on things to do and places to shop, with phone numbers, addresses and directions. The book also has detailed, up-to-date descriptions of the best local restaurants with phone numbers, addresses, and parking information.

Found our mountain home

My husband and I just left Green Gables and are ready to come back. This house has it all; comfortable rooms, great kitchen, beautiful porch, room to play ball with the dog, and close to downtown.
The house has all the modern amenities but is not cold. It is a home.
I highly recommend visiting Green Gables!

Wonderful, welcoming Asheville rental

5 of 5
Submitted: July 9, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
My husband, our 20 and 17 year old daughters, and I stayed at Green Gables for two nights and had a wonderful, restful time. Georgia welcomed us with a lovely bottle of wine, fresh fruit and cookies, and milk, bread, coffee, and other breakfast fixings. The place was immaculate, comfortable, and stocked with everything from a full kitchen to ample towels in the bath (also, lots of hooks all over which I really appreciated -- a rare and much-appreciated detail!). Green Gables is also close to everything, so we could spend our time enjoying Asheville instead of driving back and forth. We enjoyed our all-too-brief time there and hope to return before too long.

Beautiful and Relaxing

Georgia, Thank you so much for offering your house as a getaway – it is amazing! One of my best friends and I stayed here with our husbands for a dear friend’s wedding. My friend and I do not live close and so this was a time to re-kindle our friendship. This house is absolutely perfect for a vacation! Thank you for the cookies and the wine – both were such nice and welcoming touches. Asheville is definitely going to be a fond memory for all of us. Thank you again!

Peaceful location - close to everything

Thank you so much for your hospitality during our week-long stay at Green Gables. My husband and I both loved relaxing on the front porch in the evenings after filling our days with plenty of hiking along the Blue Ridge parkway (Mt. Pisgah, Graveyard Fields,Craggy Gardens). We spent today hiking to 5 gorgeous waterfalls in Dupont State Forest (fans of The Hunger Games may enjoy this!). The River Arts District is SO CLOSE to your home – we absolutely loved the area and were able to visit every studio – and we ate at Clingman Café 3 times! My birthday dinner at Limones was to-die-for. Our last night in Asheville – Friday night drums in Pritchard Park – was so much fun! We hate to leave this beautiful and peaceful home. Thank you, again.
