We just got back from our weekend at this lovely beach home and I'm missing it already. We have rented lots of homes along Lake Michigan and this is absolutely one of my very favorites. The beach is absolutely beautiful. My husband and son built some great sand castles in the perfect sand and my daughter and I had a blast searching for rocks and sea glass. We even found some petoskey stones here which I didn't even know was possible this far south! And of course we loved walking to the South Haven lighthouse. We loved that we could enjoy the beach from the house too. The covered porch is amazing, even better than the picture. I loved the blue bead board ceiling. Little touches like these make this house very special. It was great to watch sunsets and eat our meals on the porch.
To me, the outside is the most important part of a beach house, but I absolutely loved the inside too. It is the quintessential beach house; I felt like I was at a beach house on Cape Cod or Nantucket but it was even better because I was at Lake Michigan. I love a house with character and this house had it...beadboard, pedestal sinks, soapstone tile and lots of other little touches. Obviously this house is well loved!
Owner's Response: Sounds like you had a wonderful BIRTHDAY! September is a lovely month for the beach. So quiet. One of South Haven's secrets.
