|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
You are looking at one of the best-kept secrets in Colorado! Just 5 miles from Blackhawk and Central City. It is a must to read my guest book below and hear all the amazing things previous guests have said about their stay.
Solid Log Cabin with all the amenities:
- Surrounded by National Forest, VERY Private and quiet (you could walk around naked all day and nobody would ever know!)
- Gushing Mountain Stream next to Cabin - great for your morning coffee or evening happy hour!
- 20-foot tall vaulted ceilings
- Fully Remodeled Kitchen and Bath in 2013
- A secret 4- mile long PRIVATE hiking trail starts 20 feet from the cabin - you'll never see another human on it!
- 1-acre of land and no neighbors.
- Free Wifi & Internet Access!
- Awesome indoor/outdoor sound system!
- Camfire Ring, Tree Hammock, & Patio Next to Stream! Gold Panning is also on-site!
- On property elaborate treasure hunt! (as much for adults as it is kids)
- Beautiful Master Loft overlooking entire Cabin! Plus one extra bedroom, and a kids treehouse loft bedroom. The treehouse loft is mostly meant for kids, but its a cool place to hang out in too. Includes a twin bed, and Directv & DVD player.
- Property is located about 1 hour from Denver and it is very easy to get to.
4-wheelers can be rented and delivered to the cabin for approx. $100/day if desired. Information is also at the cabin for local dining, casinos, guided fishing tours, grocery stores, hiking and jeep trails, etc. You can 4-wheel/ATV right off the property and into endless amounts of trails leading all the way to the Continental Divide, Winter Park, St. Mary's Glacier, and everywhere in between. The house sits in a beautiful valley surrounded by thick national forest. I also provide a Topographical Map of the area around the cabin showing all of the Jeep and Hiking Trails available, right in the cabin's backyard! Golden Gate National Park is also only 15 minutes away. I can't overstate how awesome the 4-mile hiking trail is...plan to be gone for a few hours!
As long as there isn't snow on the ground, a fantastic elaborate Treasure Hunt exists on the property awaits you...and I encourage all ages to do it. Its not easy, and kids will need help from their parents to figure out the clues, but its a TON of fun. I spent over a month creating it...you'll love it! And if you figure it out...there will be a buried treasure chest for you to find at the end...
Roads are plowed and maintained by the City of Blackhawk all the way to the cabin. 2-wheel drive accessible year round. Complimentary Hot Chocolate, Spiced Cider and Coffee are provided. Kitchen condiments, Firewood, Wood Stove Pellets are also provided. Easy check-in. A 4-digit access code will give you access for the length of your stay.
I purchased the property in 2002. It was never listed publicly... a friend was selling it. I had NO idea what I was going to do with it...I just knew it was so special I couldn't let it go or I would always regret it :-)
Brian Richards purchased this cabin in 2002
This place was like a childhood dream come true for me. Everything about it...is...perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. My wife is a real estate agent, and she's been looking in the mountains for years for another property like it for us to buy in addition, and we just can't find anything like this one. Its so special in that it has the river, ultimate privacy, the true 'log' home feel, big open feel, no neighbors, the private hiking trail, surrounded by national forest, etc. Its not hard to find most of those...but getting all of them in 1 property without spending $1M is not easy.
This Cabin is a labor of love for me and my family. We constantly upgrade it without hesitation. Because we use it so much ourselves...its so worth spending $ to make it better. I've had families that have stayed here every year for the last 10 years, and its really fun upgrading it for them too so there is always something new to enjoy :)
Fourth of July just wouldn't be the same if we didn't spend it at this perfect spot in Black Hawk. We've been there for the past five years during the first week of July and already have it booked for next year. When we walk in the door we smile at each other and say, We're home! We both enjoyed the new hammock this year and the patio by the creek is our favorite spot for drinking coffee in the morning and a cocktail in the evening. We love the privacy of the cabin and the fact that it's so close to Black Hawk and the fun of the casino. If you're lucky enough to visit this little bit of heaven, you'll understand why we can't wait to return!
The cabin was nothing short of our expectations. Pictures tell the story very accurately. Owner does an amazing job with his write up and description. Cabin was lit up, and pellet stove running when we arrived which was very inviting. This is a true experience, with a real cabin feel. The cabin has an open floor plan, rustic decor, and the floors even creak like they should. It is a true cabin experience in the wilderness of Colorado. We would love to stay here again the next time we are visiting friends and family in Denver as it was a 45 min drive maximum back to Denver or 35 to Boulder through some of the most scenic places in Colorado.
Thank you Brian!
I could not recommend this cabin enough. It is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. The furnishings are very comfortable and welcoming. The whole place just feels warm. The views out the windows was stunning. And we had the perfect weather! Sunny and 50's all week with a beautiful snow shower to greet us Friday morning. We brought two dogs with us and they loved it too!!
We can not wait to come back next year!
Had the pleasure to stay in Brian's cabin. When I walked in the door, all I could say was "awesome". The cabin is beautiful. It was fully stocked and had everything I needed. The internet and cable tv worked great. I stayed in the downstairs bedroom. The master loft is fantastic, I wish I could have stayed up there, but my dog is not a "stair" dog. The downstairs bedroom was very comfortable. My dog loved being outside, but after the bear paid us a friendly visit, I was a little hestitant to let her off the leash.
Black Hawk is close to the Denver area, so you can drive down for restaurants, entertainment, etc. Idaho Springs is just a short drive to grocery stores, restaurants, etc.
Enjoyed my stay very much and will surely visit again.
This cabin was absolutely adorable! It was more than clean and comfortable; it was cozy and luxurious with rustic charm. The views of the trees through the big windows were especially nice from the loft area. Loved that! Husband and I here for 3-day hiking weekend with our dog. Due to spring run-off, the creek was running high and fast, but otherwise the property was peaceful and serene. Felt like kids again as we enjoyed the trail and treasure hunt. Really great hiking nearby at GG State Park, as well as up the road in front of the cabin. Owner, Brian, provided excellent communications and service before and during our stay. There is a neighboring home to the property, but enough trees to keep the cabin's privacy. It made for a wonderful weekend getaway from the suburbs. Recommended for rustic luxury and mountain fun.
Where do I begin? My family has stayed at this little gem three times now over the past 5 years, and each time has been so wonderful! This is the perfect cabin. It is close enough to Black Hawk to have easy access to stores (and a little gambling, of course), but it is secluded enough to feel like a true mountain getaway. You are surrounded by forest - with a beautiful little trail right behind the cabin, and the gorgeous creek a few steps from the door. You can walk up the road to a ghost town, or come across a few interesting old miners' shanties or weird rock forts sprinkled in the woods. Super fun for adventurous kids, teens, and well, everybody! Even folks who prefer a slower pace will love curling in front of the toasty pellet stove with a book, musing on the natural stone deck beside the river, lounging in the super-comfy and fresh-smelling beds, stretching out in front of a movie on the sofa, sitting by the campfire with some weenies and 'mallows on a stick, or just listening to the river babble while watching hummingbirds and grey squirrels flit around the trees. The cabin itself has got the perfect layout. Genius use of space. Small and cozy, yet open and spacious. Rustic and charming, yet modern and convenient. The owners have thought of everything. And I mean everything. It is a joy for kids - they love having their own little space in the loft and all of the fun little kid-friendly things in and around the cabin. Then when they get a little bigger (mine are now 14 and 15) it is cute to see them still enamored with many of the same things, but it is heartwarming to see how they've grown, too, and to notice all the more grown-up things they choose to do and enjoy. It is a precious, precious place to share that family time - for us, across three generations. And it is paradise for all of us, no matter our age or pace. And across species, as well - our doggie had a blast, too. In fact, the only problem with this cabin is that it doesn't belong to us. But it really does feel like our home away from home. And the owners are the nicest people, who make everything as friendly and easy as they can and share a touch of themselves to make you feel like old friends. We can't wait to come back, and are trying to figure out if we can start coming out for a stay in the fall, too, along with the spring each year! I can't recommend this cabin highly enough! I could seriously go on and on.
Blackhawk, Central City, Golden Evergreen. The Cabin feels like it is in a very isolated area, yet Blackhawk/Central City is only 5 miles away. Thick forest and 100-foot tall Evergreens surround the cabin in all directions. Your own Gushing Creek will make you want to spend all your time outside!. There is also a 100% private 1/2 mile hiking trail going up the mountain for Cabin guests only! Information on dining, attractions, trails, etc. is all at the cabin. Activities: Hiking, 4-wheelers, Snowmobiles, Fishing, Campfires, Skiing (Eldora Ski Area), Gambling, Shopping, Restaurants, Wildlife Viewing, Cross-Country Skiing, and Sledding... or just Relaxing! ***New*** Free Hi-Speed Internet + Wifi
