Great Family Vacation

5 of 5
Submitted: September 30, 2010 Stayed: July 2010
PROS: Our family spent 1 week at this home, It was beautiful, relaxing and one of the best vacations we have spent as a family. Between the games, libraries of books, water activities and toys everyone had a great time. There is plenty of space if you need your own space...Three of the bedrooms had beautiful water views and a large patio with plenty of seating...you could spend the day just looking out at the water. When inside the kids spent most of their time in the finished basement playing and never once got bored. When outside we enjoyed the water, picking fresh raspberries, campfires and watching the fox visit nighly. The home is in a very calm cove that is great for any watersport with Mt Kineo and other great areas of moosehead lake within a few minutes distance. Moosehead lake is a large lake, If venturing outside the cove the lake can get very rough, I have heard that certain times of the day are better then others. Canoeing just a few minutes from the home (inside the cove) you may get sightings of Moose at dusk. There is a small country store less then 10 minutes away where you can get about anything you may have forgotten along with the famous Indian Hill Trading post aprox 30 minutes away. The Sunrises are Spectacular. CONS: TV/DVD/Satallite service was difficult to use-Operating instructions would be helpful. No Cellphone service. Cleaning fee should be included in the rental fee. Suggestions: Bring two wide baby gates if you have young children. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE for any getaway as there plenty to do for the one who just wants to relax and read to the one who wants to get out and enjoy the outdoors.
