Bainbridge Island Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

We call our guest house 'The Nest' as it literally feels as though it is nestled in the cedar trees that surround it. It is extremely private, clean and comfortable. 'The Nest' is located on a quiet country lane with the only traffic being the locals who live on the lane. Once inside the cottage, one feels as if they have turned off the rest of the world with only the water and passing boats, seagulls, herons and eagles flying by. A very short stroll will take you to the public beach access two driveways down the lane. Once on the rocky beach there are shells, rocks and sea life to look for as well as the wonderful sea air to breathe in.

About Hilary Newberry

My husband and I moved to Bainbridge Island in 2000. We had loved the island for many years but until our 4 children were through school we knew we couldn't move here. Once everyone graduated from high school and our youngest was away at college, we sold our home in the Seattle suburbs and moved to Bainbridge Island. We love it here and cannot imagine living anywhere else. Living here, on the water, makes us wonder why we would ever need to travel anywhere else since everyday feels like we are on vacation.

Hilary Newberry purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Hilary Newberry chose Bainbridge Island

We actually lived in our vacation rental for a year while we remodeled our home. The guest house was totally renovated in 2006 and still feels new. Our house is on the same property but far enough away from the rental to allow plenty of privacy for both the renters and us. We love this private, quiet area of the island, facing water, the Olympic mountains and setting sun.

What makes this cottage unique

Just outside the door and a short walk down the lane brings you to the public access stairway to the beach. A mile away is Battlepoint park where there is a very nice walking, biking trail. A mile in the opposite direction will take one to the famous Bainbridge Gardens nursery where there are a plethora of plants and a wonderful gift shop. There is also the New Rose Cafe located on the nursery property. This is a wonderful place to enjoy a latte' or lunch or pastry while sitting outdoors in the nursery. There are many other wonderful restaurants within a short drive from the rental. There is also The Grand Forest, a well known forested park with lots of trails within two miles of the rental. The island is a natural wonderland with biking, boating, kayaking and hiking venues everywhere. The wonderful village like city center is approx. 5 miles away and is loaded with shopping and amazing galleries where one could spend hours as well.

Lovely Cottage

  • 5 of 5
We spent three nights at the 'Nest'. Very pleasant cottage in a great location. The bed is really comfy too. Visited the Bloedel Reserve which is great. Winslow is a quaint little town and so easy to hop on the ferry from there as a foot passenger and spend some time in downtown Seattle. The Japanese Memorial is another good place to see. Would definitely stay at the 'Nest' again if we decide to go to Bainbridge Island in the future.

Two Love Birds Enjoyed Their Stay at the Nest

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I came to the Nest for our honeymoon. We wanted a quiet get away to relax and enjoy the the surrounding attractions of Seattle and the Olympic National Park. The Nest was a wonderful property to stay at. It was the perfect size for just the two of us, all of the furnishings were so charming, and the bed was very comfortable too. Hillary was so thoughtful to give us a loaf of gluten free bread to enjoy for the week.
We would love to come back again some day for an anniversary!

Retreat in the trees!

  • 5 of 5
Fabulous retreat! Very luxurious and comfortable; exquisitely decorated. It truly feels like a nest in the trees. The view of the water is wonderful! It was a perfect location for exploring the island. Loved the Bloedel Reserve. Would love to come back and stay longer!

Perfect place to relax and enjoy the Pacific Northwest

  • 5 of 5
This cottage was a wonderfully quiet and secluded place to relax and enjoy views of the water. The windows in the kitchen area look right out over the water and you can watch the fog rise up in the morning. The cottage has everything you need to enjoy your stay, including plenty of kitchen items and olive oil, which was appreciated. The cottage was very clean, well decorated, had good heating and comfortable sofas and bed. A great experience. And the beach access means you can go down and walk along the water and watch the sun set over the Olympic Mountains. Highly recommended.

Relaxing and lovely spot

  • 5 of 5
This was a beautiful, calm place to stay. It was very romantic and quiet, just what we were hoping for. I wish it had easier access to the water front but that is really the only issue we had.

Owner's Response: Hi there. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in The Nest. We are wondering if perhaps you missed the easy access pathway to the beach? There are two, actually, that were described in the guest notebook. Thank you for your review.
Sincerely, Hilary and hamilton newberry

Peaceful

  • 5 of 5
Very relaxing getaway. Much nicer than staying in a hotel! But you are removed from the city. I picked up food at Pike's Market on my way to Bainbridge and then stayed in the cottage to relax most of the time. The granola provided is delicious. I bought some in town to take home with me.
