The Finger Lakes in Upstate New York - In a setting of 9000 square miles, there are 11 Lakes and over 1000 waterfalls and numerous gorges, which were formed at the end of the ice age when tremendous grinding pressures gouged enormous holes in the land forming what is now the Finger Lakes region of “Up State New York”. These amazing Lakes range from 3 miles (5km) to 40 miles (64km) in length and from 30 feet (10m) to over 632 feet (194m) in depth! Native American Legend says that the Fingers Lakes were the impression left behind by the creator when he reached down to bless the land. Whatever the truth, the Finger Lakes are a wonderful place to Escape to, to “Just get away” and where you can relax and do either very little or do a lot. To explore the many exciting places dotted around the region and to have that perfect vacation. Whilst you are here, why not take a leisurely drive to visit some of over 70 award winning wineries

Welcome Home

Brat York, PA
Review Submitted: November 17, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Upon my husband's return from a year in Iraq he surprised me with a vacation to the Finger Lakes. It was like a second honeymoon. Our cabin was like being at home - it was comfortable, warm and welcoming. Everything we could possibly have needed to live there - cooking utensils/items, bedding, hygiene - was available. There was plenty of privacy and we were able to take our puppy for long walks in the woods.

I especially appreciated the book that others who had stayed at the cabin wrote in about places to go (or not go), activities to do, winaries to enjoy. It took the guesswork out of figuring out how to spend our time.

I would DEFINITELY recommend Cobtree (and already have) to my family and friends. I look forward to spending more time at Cob and The Finger Lakes.

We keep coming back to Cobtree

Review Submitted: October 18, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We have just returned from our third visit to Cobtree. It was an unseasonably cold and somewhat rainy week, but we loved returning to our lovely, warm cottage after a day of meandering and wine tasting. The setting is exquisite and the location is very convenient to good restaurants and lost of wineries. .
You really don’t have to bring a thing. It is the most most well-equipped place we have ever stayed. And our dog loves running the fields!

A great place to stay in the Finger Lakes.

This property truly deserves it's AAA Triple Diamond Rating! We stayed at the Honeoye Cabin & it had all
the amenities described on the web site. The cabin
was very clean. The property is well maintained &
manicured. The walking trails are well maintained & clean
cut. Cobtree was ideal to accomodate us, with our 20
month old Yellow Labrador Retriever and for parking
our boat safe and close to the cabin, where we stayed.
After boating every day on a different Lake, we'd return to
the Honeoye cabin & have our aperitivs & dinner on the
veranda, overlooking Seneca Lake. What a treat!
The owners, Robert & Jane are excellent hosts, provide
very good customer service & made us feel very welcome. We will recommend this property to all of our friends
and we will certainly, be back next year.

Cayuga Rental

Cory & Bob Virginia
Review Submitted: August 15, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Overall a very nice place to stay at a reasonable price for a family. The rental property is accurately described on the Cobtree Site, so we were delighted it lived up to expectations created by the advertising. The location is beautiful, and convenient to stores and local attractions. We would recommend this to others.

There were several items that require the attention of the owners that would move our rating to "Excellent":
The unit was not as clean as we expected it to be -- the vacuuming was not done thoroughly and one of the counters was VERY sticky (No amount of damp wiping cured this problem -- it may need to be refinished)
Lighting over the bathroom/bedroom sinks was very poor -- lights need to be installed over each sink/mirror.
One of the recliners had been damaged at some time in the past and would not function properly -- needs repair.
The gas grill, which appeared to be OK on first inspection did a very poor job - not clean (very smokey) and cooked quite unevenly.
The second floor bedrooms were uncomfortably hot at night, even with the AC on all day and set at 70 -- perhaps not enough air circulation gets to 2nd level.
No chair in bedrooms, so can't sit to put on footwear (also, when a family has no baby, crib should be removed -- takes up too much room)
Finally, more area carpeting in sitting area & bedrooms is necessary both for comfort and acoustics to absorb sound (we found that voices and other sounds echoed throughout the entire house).
Owner's Response: We are surprised by the remark about the cleaning as we are meticulous in our cleaning between rentals. The butcher top work tops in the kitchens are indeed slightly tacky because the Danish oil we used to seal them a few weeks ago did not fully harden and we simply cannot do anything until the end of the peak season when we can rub them down and reseal with another type of oil. This process takes about 3 day's and during our peak season we have back to back bookings where this cannot be done. The bathrooms each have a central light and extractor fan as is typical in most peoples homes and we have no programme to install vanity lights above the medicine cabinets for the foreseeable future. These are after all, vacation rental homes and not hotel rooms! All of the floors in the property are hard wood floors and easy maintenance with the exception of a small area rug. The properties are built as English style cottages with these hardwood polished floors and so we do not wish to add additional carpeting to them which would spoil the overall interior design of the properties and add to cleaning and as well as hygiene issues. On examination of the gas grill, it was discovered that two of the burners were shot and these have since been replaced with new stainless steel burners. (the bbq units themselves are only 3 years old) The reason why the air conditioning was not moving upstairs was because all of the registers downstairs were left fully open by previous guests and all that need to be done was for you to half close the downstairs registers to force the air upstairs and the cold air would then come downstairs! The reclining chair mechanism was broken by a previous guest and this is on our list to be replaced later this year. All of our double bedrooms have either a soft chair or regular chair in them as does our twin rooms so I am uncertain as to why you did not find a chair unless, they were moved around the house or into the lounge. In any event, all of your comments are appreciated and where possible, practical and affordable, we will always try to do our best to help and resolve any issues. having said this, my wife and I do live on site and had we been made aware of any of these issues during your stay with us, we would have been able to address them with you in person or give explanation however, we are most happy to do so through the medium of this forum as well.
