As you approach this private setting in the woods, you feel a calm come over you. A large covered porch greets you, beckoning you to sit a spell, watch the birds, squirrels, wild turkey, peacocks and deer play in the woods. How long has it been since you've heard a whippoorwill fill the evening air? Stroll down to the lake and 'wet a line.' Boaters and fishermen love it. Back at the house, you'll find an open floor plan with a large kitchen, dining, living room area. Two bedrooms, with one queen size and one full size bed, and one bath. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils. The dining room table seats six. The sitting area has a wood burning stove to warm your toes by.

Convenient to I-40 and I-840.

Directions: I-40 to Exit 238 (US 231 Exit - Lebanon / Murfreesboro / Hartsville Exit); Go towards Lebanon; Go half way around the Lebanon Square;Go out 231 North/North Cumberland; Turn left at third traffic light (Coles Ferry Pike); Go 8 miles to Cairo Bend Road North); Turn right onto Cairo Bend Road going exactly .7 of a mile;Turn right at stone columns (4145 Cairo Bend North); Continue on the gravel lane, around the curve and up the hill (the best is yet to come!), the Fernwood House is the second cabin on the right and is nestled back in the woods.

I-40 to Exit 232B (TN 109 / Gallatin Exit); Go towards Gallatin; Go through two traffic lights; Turn right at Academy Road immediately beyond the LaGuardo Recreation Center; Go approximately 5 miles; Turn left onto Cairo Bend Road North; Go exactly .7 of a mile on Cairo Bend North; Turn right at the stone columns with decorative lights (4145 Cairo Bend); Continue on the gravel lane, around the curve, up the lane; 2nd cabin on right.

Great Getaway

My family and I stayed at three of Steve and Debbie's four cabins and the Fernwood, where my immediate family stayed was wonderful. It was clean and comfortable and Steve and Debbie were available and great hosts and very helpful. It says it sleeps four, but we have three small children and it fit the five of us just perfectly. All of your basic ammenities were provided and it was great to have a washer and dryer right there in the cabin.

We enjoyed the peace and quiet, the beautiful lake, fishing, bonfires and grilling out. We also enjoyed the local beach, which is just a few minutes away. Other great attractions (which were quite a bit further away) that we enjoyed were going into Nashville, horseback riding, visiting a winery, visiting the Jack Daniels Distillery, and renting a pontoon boat on J. Percy Priest Lake.

There was something for everyone and we would highly recommend this cabin.

A Perfect "home away from home"

We stayed at Fernwood Cabin during our grandson's 14U CABA World Series tournament in Lebanon, TN. It was the perfect "home away from home"! The cabin was clean and well stocked. There were plenty of linens, dishware etc. as well as spices and such in the kitchen. The living room furniture was comfortable as were the beds. Steve and Debbie even thought of the laundry detergent and softner for the washer and dryer (which came in really handy for the baseball uniforms). I was able to relax and enjoy my vacation while still feeling right at home. Our son and his family rented the cabin across the lane from us so I had the added bonus of grandkids to cuddle and enjoy. We all enjoyed the beautiful views of the lake, paddle boating and fishing when we would return at the end of the day after watching baseball. My husband preferred the air conditioned indoors while I loved sitting on the front porch in the swing. I highly reccommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing place to stay in this area.

Comfortable and clean

Excellent value. Layout provides some privacy from the living room tv. Beautiful setting. This cabin is not listed as waterfront but it has just as nice views. I found 7 different wildflowers blooming on Thanksgiving day on my walk down the lane -- this is a nature lovers dream location.

Fernwood Cabin

We found this cabin for rent close to where my mother-in law Lena moved to from Florida. My husband and I wanted pick her up, and take her away for a little vacation where we could spend some time together and relax. This cabin was perfect. The beds are extremely comfrortable. We enjoyed the hammock, and the swing on the front porch. We were very impressed with the good care the owners, Steve and Debbie take of the property. In the beginning we were thinking that we would prefer to be in the cabin closer to the lake because Lena likes the water and it's hard for her to walk, but the Fernwood cabin was so cozy and comfortable, we decided we liked it the best. We went down to the lake before dinner every evening, and that became a nice part of our daily routine. Lena had not been able to cook in a couple of years since she moved from Miami, and the kitchen in this cabin had everything we needed to cook full meals, including baking. We are all definitely looking forward to our next trip. After our stay, this cabin feels like a second home. Thanks to Steve and Debbie for making us feel so comfortable.

We'll be coming back!

Guys Getaway

My friends and I rented the Fernwood lakehouse over a weekend in July of 2009. We caught some fish during the day, and went exploring on the adjoining land. We went for a swim out on the lake, used the paddleboat to fish from across the lake. At night we made a fire and enjoyed the quiet area, the stars were magnificent. It was quiet, well kept, clean, and safe. There was a comfortable hammock that we all kept in use all weekend, we used the grill both nights for hamburgers and chicken. The full kitchen and utensils were convenient when we did cook! Overall a great weekend with friends in a quiet, relaxing environment, with some nice folks who wanted to make sure we had a good weekend. We also enjoyed the covered porch with ceiling fans and lotts of chairs, good for talking and relaxing!!
