About The Owner

The home is jointly owned by 2 families. This was our parents' home. After our father's recent passing we decided to renovate the house for other people's summer enjoyment. It has been a labor of love, and we are very proud of the way the house looks.

The Owner purchased this house in 2010

Why The Owner chose Huron

We have lived in the area for more than 20 years and have enjoyed the beach community of Old Homestead.

Great winter rental

  • 4 of 5
Great place to stay during a winter vacation. House was modern and kept up. Everyday kitchen utensils were provided as were modern day conveniences like DVDs, and wifi. Location was easy to find and quite accessible to highway. Would really like to experience huron in the summer sometime. Renters had good communication. Would return.

Perfect Rental Home

  • 5 of 5
We been vacationing at Old Homestead in Huron since our children were small. They are now grown with their own children. We continue to carry on the tradition by staying at Old Homestead each year- now in separate rentals since our family has grown.
Shawnee Place was very comfortable, roomy, and immaculately clean. We felt like home as soon as we walked in! The spacious rooms and private outdoor deck were very accommodating. The private beach is within walking distance. We spent many hours relaxing on the deck and spending time with family at the beach. Our grandkids had a blast in the waves!
The owner was very helpful with returning my inquiry and sending info out to us.
I would highly recommend this rental, as it is close to great restaurants, a shopping plaza, Cedar Point, water parks, and the Sandusky Mall. The Sandbar restaurant nearby has the GREATEST pizza in the world!!
Thank You Greg and Carol for allowing us to stay in your home.

PERFECT Home for Making Vacation Memories with Your Whole Family!!

  • 5 of 5
To say that our week on Shawnee Place was perfect seems like such an understatement. Myself & my two kids (ages 9 and 13) drove up from Tennessee to spend the week with my mom & dad as well as my sister & her boyfriend (it was the perfect midway point between us and them in Michigan). My mom & I spent so much time searching for the perfect house for our trip & from the pictures & descriptions, felt really good about our decision. What I liked was that the pictures provided in the ad were an exact representation of what we drove up to.

If you have children, they will love this place!! The 2 living spaces are ideal, giving the kids their own place to watch tv/movies and play games when the adults were hanging out upstairs. This house was also SO well stocked! Like my mom, I grossly overpacked...none of which I ended up needing thanks to the thoughtfulness that the owners have put in to what they have provided. Anything you can think of for the kitchen is there. Even a milkshake maker lol. DVDs , board games, puzzles...all there for you in case you didn't bring any with you. Want to take a book down to the beach? There are TONS of books to choose from! I personally liked the "if you want to take a book home with you, leave one behind". Old Homestead II is a wonderful subdivision. The neighbors that we encountered were so friendly & the 3 blocks to the beach was fantastic. If you are someone that needs handicap parking for disability purposes, you can actually drive up to the beach and park at the curb in the provided handicap spot.

The size of the bedrooms were huge! Lots of closet and dresser space & the bathrooms were very nice as well. The basement provided extra sleeping space & having a washer & dryer downstairs was FANTASTIC. I really loved the back deck and spending every morning sitting out there enjoying coffee with mom & dad before the kids got up. The bottom line on this house is that it is just everything we could've hoped for & maybe more. My parents, sister and I vacationed in Huron when we were little, and we had such great memories of this little beach town. I love that I got to share this place with my own kids, who now have awesome memories of their own, just like I did growing up.

We got the chance to meet Greg & Carol who were so kind. I can't thank you enough for providing such a wonderful home to vacationers. I think it's safe to say that we will most definitely be returning renters in summers to come!!!

Great Home, Great Location

  • 5 of 5
We just got back from our week in Huron. This house was perfect, start to finish. We have absolutely no complaints. When we got there, it was spotlessly clean and inviting. We felt at home right away. When our daughter and her two kids arrived, they settled right in down in the family room. As stated, the kitchen is well-furnished. If you need it, it's most likely there. I anticipated shortages and brought too much stuff. We had up to 7 people in the house at one time, and you never feel crowded. The bedrooms are good-sized and the bathrooms are perfect. The deck out back was well used for all meals. I especially loved having coffee out there in the morning. There are plenty of toys in the garage for use at the beach, which is only about a 5 min. walk from the house. We love the beach!! And if that's not enough, the neighbors are really nice. This is definitely a "what you see is what you get" home... and it's perfect! We loved it and hope to return with all the family. The owners are very nice too!

Great Location!

  • 5 of 5
This home was very comfortable and in an ideal location for us. The subdivision was very quiet and the neighboring homes were quite unique in their old hometown setting. I would definitely recommend this home. The beach was within walking distance and would be great for families. I especially loved the colors and setting of the dining room. The beds were quite comfortable and the home certainly was big enough for six adults. Staying in a home is so much more relaxing than a hotel room anytime. Thanks Gregg and Carol!

Beach vacation

  • 5 of 5
My family and I spent a week at the home and let me tell you I was very pleased. We went to Cedar Point 2 days and spent the rest of the week on the beach which was great for the kids 2, 9yr olds and 2, 17yr olds. The home is huge. The 3 bathrooms helped out when people were trying to get ready to go swimming, the beach which was walking distance and very clean. The neighborhood was great also, walking distance to the Dairy Queen and grocery store made things very easy. This was our first time renting and we would definitely do it again and also reccommend this to friends. Thank you to Gregg and Carol for a wonderful vacation
