Delightful Escape from Northeast Winter!

My husband and I always try to escape the long northern winter with a southern sojourn and enjoy exploring new places. Neither of us had ever been to the Riviera Maya, and, based on the high praise of a good friend who spent one month is this condo complex, we booked in. It was perfect for our goal of total relaxation in a beautiful tropical setting. The condo itself is spacious, light and comfortable, with pleasing decor and intriguing Mexican artifacts scattered about. The maid service kept everything sparkling clean. The pool is gorgeous, the beach exquisite, and the "village" chock-a-block with fun restaurants and shops and nightly live music, a fun diversion. We spent mornings at the beach, often strolled down to the Omni beach bar for a light lunch, and landed poolside most afternoons for some aqua-exercise - the pool's length conducive to laps. We dined out and ate in, making the most of the local farmers market's bounty of perfect avacados, tomatoes, chili peppers, mangos and all manner of fresh vegetables and fruits. The complex itself never felt crowded or noisy. It felt more like our own private oasis shared with a few amiable fellow guests. The staff keep all of the grounds immaculately groomed, and the gardens and plantings are lovely. If you have young children, this is an ideal family setting - both pool and beach designed for safety and ease, and dolphins at the marina will delight young and old. For the more athletically inclined there is tennis and, of course, the golf course. For ocean adventure you can book a snorkeling, dive or fishing boat. We enjoyed an outing to a local cenote. Truly something for everyone. We are considering returning next year with our four adult children!
