After all your exploring ,you may want to sit on the roof and just watch the sun go down, or watch the water break over the reef or just watch the peaceful Lagoon that is be-hind you!
So much to do,
San Pedro Town is the only inhabited area on the island. It's atmosphere is that of a small bustling fishing village but with 'hot spots', restaurants, and entertainment. It now boasts of one main paved road, and 2 small areas downtown, rest are still dirt.
The town is clustered with wooden houses, some with Mexican decor, others Caribbean, and some still remain with the English colonial architecture. Gift shops, boutiques, bars, cafes, and restaurants adorn Front And Middle streets (now named Barrier Reef Drive/Pescador Drive). A short walk in town and you'll feel the friendliness of the people and witness the ease of their lifestyles as they go through daily life. Barefeet, tee-shirts, and shorts is the typical island dress code.
The people of the island are called 'Sanpedranos' and speak English, Spanish, Creole, and Maya all at the same time, making it their own island dialect. They are proud of their heritage and are willing to share it with tourists. Before tourism picked up in the eighties, the islanders were mostly Mestizos (Maya-Spanish). Today they share their island with the Creole, Maya, Central American refugees, and Americans that have made San Pedro their new home.
This is a warm, friendly and safe place!

I love to travel, been around the world but I love this island especially the people! I travel mostly by myself and this island is a safe place for a woman alone. The beaches are as good if not better than Maui, Turkey, Israel, Greek Islands, European Beaches, Indian beaches, doesn't matter where, I have probably been there but no place equals the beauty of both the beaches and the people! The island is 26 miles long and 1/2 to 12 miles wide and you can rent a moped like this one or a golf cart and see the island but if your only there a week you will have more than enough to do and see just by walking, I was there 3 weeks on my last visit and didn't use the Moped until 3 days before I left the island. This picture was taken before I went snorkeling. 1 block from my Condo !
Barbarajean Bruce purchased this condo in 2009
I fell in love with the beaches, people and safety of the island. I intend to live on the Island from January through March. I am minutes from everything and just by walking 5 min I am relaxing on a beautiful beach or 10 min I am in town shopping. Being on the 3rd floor makes me feel like I am in the tree tops when I wake up and in 2 min I can have fresh orange or pineapple juice juice from the fruit stand right in front of me.I get a gallon of 'Mama's' fresh squeezed juice every time I come. No additives, chemicals etc. just fresh natural juice!!! And every Tuesday morning, the Mennonites bring fresh produce to market! be sure to ask about this treat!
I know in my travels I appreciated the use of a phone, so as a courtesy ,we provide you with a cell phone. You can purchase all the minutes you want! It is so much more convenient to be able to call first, before heading out! We also provide a mobile internet service so you can have wifi anywhere in Belize, on the island or on mainland!
If we wanted fresh fruit, it was a skip and a jump, or a neat restaurant right down the street for authentic Italian or 7 min to incredible seafood dining on the beach at Ramon's or the Blue Iguana. I have a full kitchen so cooking great food is no problem.
Be sure to ask me how to buy all your fruits and veggies, milk and cheese directly from The Mennonites at 80% less than you pay on island. Actually this is how everyone on the island buy to sell to you.
We can go snorkeling when we feel like it or just sit at the pool or the beach. The unit is compact, easy to keep clean. We loved to walk the beach and talk with the locales.
Observations by my husband on his first trip: 'A truly beautiful island made up of a blend of many cultures and personalities. You walk down streets hearing mostly English, but with Spanish and Creole mixed as well. The food is varied and delicious-again multicultural. What I have noticed is there is the conspicuous absence of foul language, angry speech and no sirens. The people are warm and very helpful when spoken to –not speaking about vendors. There is a spirit of can do and overall serenity of peace on this island. There is a bustle of activity during the day on the roads in San Pedro but you step into a different world on the nearby beach. Even the vendors on the beach are most respectful as they ask you to investigate and buy their wares—no pressure at all. One should eat at the many locations the islanders inhabit to truly experience island food'
Perfect place to just kick back and relax. very peaceful, yet minures to everywhere! no cart was necessary. Could walk everywhere. Grocery store around corner, kitchen had all supplies!
The owner was very nice and helpful on information in the area. The inside of this unit is as described. It was clean and had all of the items it was advertised to have. The unit is small but was satisfactory for 2 people. It has just one window AC unit in the bedroom which was not turned on when we arrived. It took quite a long time to get the place cooled down. The outside of the building is in need of some cleaning up. Old construction supplies on the stairs along with a toilet. Lots of junk around the side of the building. The pool is under the building and not usuable as far as we were concerned. The cell phone that was advertised had no minutes on it so we had to pay for a call to the management comp to correct that and they only provide 10 mins and refused to refill it. I was not impressed with the head of the management company, although her employees were very nice.
I loved my stay on the island and will go back asap. The apt. had everything required for a relaxing holiday. We were in short walking distance to anywhere we needed to go. Everyone, including the owner and property mgr. treated us with respect. Everything is there that is advertised, however I wasn't prepared for spiritual gratification I felt from this trip. Thanks Pi and Barbara Jean!
My friend and I stayed here for 11 days and it was just PERFECT! Small, yes, but all amenities: air conditioning, fridge, microwave, stove, linens, utensils, internet connection, etc. No, it's not a resort. It's BETTER. Why be in a resort with a bunch of Americans when you can be where the locals live and soak in the culture? This condo is no more than a ten minute walk to the heart of town and even less to the beach.
And a few words about BarbaraJean, the owner: she was SO helpful in our planning this trip. She clearly loves the area and loves sharing her knowledge and tips that she has picked up along the way. She arranged for our cab ride to and from the airport to the water taxi, for our ride to the condo, she provides a cell phone for local calls and arranging of tours. She could not have been more helpful.
Without a doubt when I return to San Pedro, I will stay at this condo.
Just steps from World Class Diving and snorkelling
Superb Views of the Caribbean Sea and Barrier Reef (a World Heritage Site)
