Leave the stress, sounds, and smells of the city life behind. Come visit our quaint cottage and just feel the tension melting away... Enjoy a soak in the hot tub; this will certainly be an introduction into 'kick back' mountain living. Chimney Rock is a friendly, welcoming community offering sensory experiences and memories to our tourists. Hear the tranquil sounds of the stream from our cottage across the road.

Shops and Chimney Rock Park are within walking distance. You can view the ' Chimney Rock' which is lighted at night from our deck. Enjoy the fresh clean mountain air, but please bring a jacket for those cool mountain evenings. Homemade goods and foods are abundant all around, as well as yard sales, thrift shops. There are excellent restaurants all around the cottage site.

See where 'Dirty Dancing' and 'Last of the Mohicans' were filmed. The pool table in cottage is a skill pool type. Dogwood trees and other flowering shrubs are beautiful and fragrant in the springtime. Lake Lure (1 Mile away )offers all the water sports and rentals; golfing is also nearby. Put your fishing line in baited with 1 piece of corn and see what happens.

Dine at the Esmeralda Inn where Clark Gable and Carol Lombarde hung out between movie shoots. Ben Hur was also written in the Esmerala Inn. Enjoy a luxurious day at the Lake Lure Inn SPA (1 mile away ). Wineries in the area, one off of Hwy74 and Hwy 9, other at the Biltmore Estates, are only 20-30 minutes from the cottage.

About Ann

As my husband and I grew up, our families often made trips to the mountains sometimes just to buy locally grown apples. As children we loved to hike in the woods and I especially loved seeing the deer, chipmunks and other wildlife. As we grew up we knew that finding a home to purchase was in our future.

Ann purchased this cottage in 1996
Why Ann chose Chimney Rock

My husband and I chose the Blue Ridge Mountains, specifically Chimney Rock, NC area, because over the last 30 years, it has been the area that we would frequent to relax and enjoy nature. We always wanted a place of our own and purchased the original home in the mid 80's, then late in the 1990's we added on and did a major refurbish. The people in the area are very friendly and welcome strangers very easily. Also, being outdoor spirits, we had so much to do in such a small space. Often times, we brought our boat and used Lake Lure for skiing when our children were young. Our children/grandchildren also love the mountain activities in the Chimney Rock area.

What makes this cottage unique

quietness, nature, relaxation, not wearing a watch or punching a time clock, water sports, fishing and eating the fish caught, smells of the woods/flowers, sounds of the river and birds, mountain temperatures in the evening, friendly locals, boating, eating out at wonderful diverse restaurants, mountain views, festival activities held often, closeness to NC cities such as Asheville, Arden, Hendersonville and Edneyville.

There is a local rock climbing wall which is man-made nearby in the area. Tennis courts and basketball courts are down the street at the City area office grounds and picnic area. Boat Tour of Lake Lure are also located on this same property and are lovely. Lake Lure also has a water park with tube slide and other attractions. FISHING is right across the main street in the Broad River and locals use whole kernel corn to catch 3 type of trout.

Notes: Also WiFi is available in many areas right near cottage, some within walking distance. Many of the restaurants, bistros have this capability. For those who have satellite sticks for their computers, you can be inside the cottage and connect. There are now 4 beach chairs with umbrellas and a cooler available for you to take down to Lake Lure Beach! Rod and reel left with limited tackle left outside basement door. or in rear closet.

We stayed for 9 days at the Kyle of Loch Lure Cabin, and had a great time! Ann answered any questions we had about renting and called to check in on us a few days into our stay. We loved the deck overlooking the main bedroom. It was nice to sit on the deck for breakfast. The kitchen was also very accomodating. The appliances aren't brand new, but they are all easy to use and work well. The stove knobs are a little tricky as they want to come off, so we had to make sure we didn't accidentally leave the oven on while we were out all day. The hot tub was also a nice feature, especially after coming back from a long days hike.

Growing up, my family used to have a mountain cabin, and so something I look for when comparing rentals, is the atmosphere. Perhaps some people don't mind what the cabin looks like, and the layout and all of that, but I enjoy my stay more when the cabin feels like home. Kyle of Loch Lure was just right. We would definitely recommend this cabin! Ann was so easy to work with, it was very affordable, and the cabin itself was lovely.

My husband, daughter (7yrs old) and her friend spent several days of the girls spring break in this wonderful cabin. We were able to take them horseback riding and gem mining to a wonderful place called Cedar Creek Stables that was less than 30 minutes away. And of couse, we climbed Chimney Rock and enjoyed main street for several days! I love that it is within walking distance of the cabin.
The girls LOVED the hot tub and it was a life saver on one day when it was cold and yucky out - it kept them occupied for quite some time!

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend in this cottage for our anniversary. It was so comfy and had absolutely everything we needed. We climbed Chimney Rock and walked around the little town just across the street, and also walked along the riverwalk. It was all very laid back and beautiful. Its only 30 minutes from shopping in Asheville and the drive there was so much fun, winding around the mountains. I definately recommend this place to everyone! And the rates were the best i saw for everything it has. Thanks Ann for the wonderful weekend!

We really enjoyed our stay at your cottage. It was well-stocked with everything we needed and well-maintained. The hot tub was wonderful. We loved going up to the Chimney and the views were beautfiul. The cottage is great for a get romantic getaway or for a family vacation. We are hoping in the near future to bring our 3 grandchildren, daughter, and son-in-law. We think they would have a blast hopping rocks, hiking, fishing, or just hanging out at the cottage watching your children's videos. Thank you, Ann, for being so hospitible and easy to work with. I would like to thank Ann for her hospitality while at her home. We decided to go up after the Christmas holidays and had a wonderful time. The home was so cozy and had everything you would need. My 9 year old daughter loved all the movies and games you had. We could even walk to the main strip and could view Chimney Rock from the home. We had so much fun, we were able to go zip lining and to the Biltmore House all were within a reasonable distance from the home. I would highly recommend this home again. Thanks again Ann....

Owner's Response: What a lovely family. I am so glad that they had such a good time at our cottage and in Chimney Rock. Their nine year old daughter simply loved all of our cartoon movies and plain movies as well. I noticed that the skill pool table was used and that made me happy.
