Ohiopyle House Rental Photos and Description

The Yough Treehouse has 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

The Yough Treehouse (YTH) is located in the town of Confluence, near Lucky Dog Cafe and Riversport--in the heart of the Laurel Highlands Mountains.

YTH sits on 2 acres along the Youghiogheny River. Surrounded by 50 acres of protected woods, at the end of a one lane road but within walking distance to town and 400 yds to the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail. We now also own the 50 acres of woods across from the house. It's yours to enjoy!

Our quiet, secluded home is custom built, well equipped and clean. The house is 1500 sq feet with an open floor plan in the kitchen/living area. Also on the ground floor is a full bath. Two steps up there is a spacious master bedroom with a king bed and a second bedroom with twins. Above is large loft with a queen bed and full sleeper sofa-a room with a view. The house has a big front porch and just off the well equipped kitchen is the riverside deck with a propane grill.

Enjoy the natural beauty of the area relaxing on our spacious deck overlooking the river. Listen for geese, ducks and other birds while soaking the secluded hot tub. Fly fish for trout in the well stocked tailwaters of the dam in our back yard. Watch for heron, osprey or if you are lucky the bald eagles.

Make a day swimming and boating at the Yough Lake. Take a break from your ride through from DC to Pittsburgh on the bike trail or spend the day biking shorter routes to nearby Ohiopyle, Connellsville, Rockwood or Meyersdale. Make this the perfect retreat for trips to the 2 Frank Lloyd Wright homes (Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob) nearby. We are centrally located to the ski resorts (Wisp, Seven Springs & Hidden Valley). Enjoy rafting, canoeing and kayaking right out our door-or for more adventure in nearby Ohiopyle or Friendsville, MD.

Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, a family planning the ultimate vacation or old friends looking for a quiet retreat our home is the perfect setting.

**Also check out our larger home, Yough Riverhouse (listing 436933)--just down the road**

About Kara Weld

I grew up in Confluence and developed a love of the outdoors, which turned into a career racing kayaking and eventually how I met my husband. We purchased the 'Treehouse' in 1996, started a family and lived until 2010 when we moved to nearby Morgantown, WV. We were heartbroken with the thought of selling our beloved home. One day a good friend, who knew of our dilemma said, 'Why don't you make it a vacation rental and keep it?!'. And instantly our problem of parting with our home was solved and we were on our way to making it an ideal vacation home. Renting our home as been incredibly rewarding, as we love to make people happy and we are proud to share our much loved home and the wonders of the Laurel Highlands with others.

What we miss most about our home are: hosting friends on the deck, making pizzas on the kitchen island, hot tubbing after a long x country ski or bike trip, seeing a pair of bald eagles diving for breakfast out our kitchen window and the convenient access to the outdoors. That is why we are sharing this unique spot with others. We think you'll love it too.

Why Kara Weld chose Ohiopyle

The Treehouse has an unbeatable location and the perfect layout for a small multi generational family, a single family or a small group of friends. Perched on the Yough River, moments to the GAP bike trail and surrounded by 50 acres of woods, yet within walking distance to town. The Treehouse feels secluded yet nearby. The house is beautiful, well appointed and clean. The large deck, hot tub and newly landscaped riverside fire ring patio are meant for family and friend quality time. Come to the mountains to relax and enjoy.

What makes this house unique

Some of the unique benefits of staying here are: the convenience to town, the quiet, the surrounding woods, strolling down to Lucky Dog Cafe for dinner, soaking in the claw foot master bath tub--or better yet, the hot tub, drinking coffee while reading the paper on the deck, basically no traffic on our one lane road, the eagles, heron and osprey, the fishing and the proximity to the bike trail, oh and the river!

Great place for a fun family vacation!

  • 5 of 5
We loved the Yough Treehouse! We had toured Fallingwater before we checked in, and when we arrived I said the house was our "mini Fallingwater" above the river. Very comfortable for our family of four, also very clean with tasteful decor. Several nice restaurants nearby, and walking and biking trails close. We brought our bikes and loved the 11 mile trail along the river. The Yough Lake is two minutes up the road with a cute beach that was almost empty on weekdays. The hot tub overlooking the river was great to soak in after paddling 10 miles! We really enjoyed the layout of the house, especially the loft, firepit and hot tub. Thank you so much for a great family vacation and for all the tips & info you provided, Kara. We all had a blast, and our kids (age 9 and 6) can't wait to come back!

Family memories and experiences

  • 5 of 5
The Yough Treehouse was just what we were looking for with our 10 and 12 year olds to experience all that the area has to offer. The house sits up on a private road with only a turn around at the top which provided the perfect privacy yet access to everything Confluence and Ohiopyle area has to offer. Bike racks held our bikes which we road all over town and even up the mountainous hill to get to the beach on Yough Lake... Recommend a car next time, but very close. ;) The ride on bikes was beautiful and an easy casual ride with our kids. We joked that it may go gradually downhill both ways to & from Ohiopyle! Worth the ride to see the town and falls with shade nearly the entire ride which helped regardless of wind or rain. Kayak rental was at the base of the hill to the house of which we walked to, rented kayaks for our first time and launched right there. They came and picked us up at the end of our 4-5 hour journey down the Middle Yough... Enough rapids for adventure but not needing helmets!!! Perfect for our age of kids and us as novices! Food in town was delicious! Wonderful people to meet in town and the accommodations were top notch. Hot tub felt GREAT after our adventures and was the peaceful relaxation needed to rejuvenate! Pictures do not do this place justice and one could just sit on the deck and enjoy the beauty without doing a thing! Thanks for providing a well stocked, comfortable, vacation home to share!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the lovely review. You described the house and area better than me! The bike trip to Ohiopyle is fantastic, although most people can tell the ride back is slightly uphill :-). The bike to the lake is a little bit steep, but it is so close that it is a good option if you don't have much to carry and don't mind a little sweat :-)--makes jumping in the lake even more rewarding.

Fabulous house right on the river and as described

  • 5 of 5
The house is in wonderful condition and conveniently located right on the GAP trail. There is a lovely restaurant, the Lucky Dog, within walking distance, as well as a shop for renting a raft. The house is accurately described here, was clean, and well-maintained. The owners put in effort to ensure your stay is enjoyable. I'd highly recommend this home!

Great midweek getaway!

  • 5 of 5
Wonderful last minute midweek getaway - beautiful home! Great conditions for X-country skiing at Laurel Ridge and a cold beer in the hot tub afterwards was the perfect way to cap off the day. Kitchen was well stocked. Comfortable bedding. Very private and quiet. Would love to return during warm weather months to use the bike path and kayak.

Absolutely stunning!

  • 5 of 5
My girlfriend (now fiancee) and I stayed here during a trip I planned for our engagement and were thoroughly impressed. The house was spotless and stunning! The pictures don't do it justice at all! It's secluded just off of the main highway in Confluence, PA and man, is it pretty! This place is a perfect get away for a couple but it's also clearly suitable for a family as it has a loft and two separate rooms with beds. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything needed to cook a fantastic meal and the back porch has a 4 burner propane grill! Flat screen TV, plenty of seating, wrap around back porch, vaulted ceilings, Cable & WiFi, plenty of board games, beautiful decor and it's situated perfectly on the Yough river which means you hear the sounds of a peaceful river throughout your stay!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that there's a private 4 person hot tub! It's not located on the patio but, rather, it's about 20-30 feet down a trail on the hillside overlooking the river--very secluded and very romantic! It was flawlessly cleaned when we got here, we spent several nights sharing a bottle of wine and just talking with the sound of the river in the background, perfect!

Lastly, the owners are incredibly dedicated to making your stay perfect. I had several request that I thought were extraordinary and the owners made every one of them complete! I think their passion for ensuring that every renter has a great experience is something that cannot be overlooked!

Overall, this is one of the most amazing rental homes we've experienced! We highly recommend it and are incredibly gracious for the opportunity to stay here!

I think it goes without saying, but you should stay here, absolutely worth every penny!

Beautiful setting and house!

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed a great couple of days at the Yough Treehouse! Since the weather was unseasonably cold, we REALLY enjoyed the hot tub! That was our favorite part. :) We also enjoyed the immaculate house and surroundings. Our Pekingese dog enjoyed exploring the outdoors on River Rd. as well as the GAP trail. Lunch at the Lucky Dog was delish! This is a great house for a quick getaway or weekend. We'll be back!
One note to travelers: Bring your own groceries! We had trouble finding a store open and/or a place to eat after 8 p.m. I think some places were closed for the winter season. The kitchen is great for cooking, too. :)

Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely review. The Foodmart in town is pretty well stocked. Their hours are 9am-8pm, Mon-Sat & 9am-5pm this time of the year, maybe even longer hrs in the summer. Believe it or not the Dollar General carries quite a bit of food and they have long hours. But yes, many restaurants do shut down in the winter but seem to be open for more of the year each year. I'm glad you enjoyed Lucky Dog Cafe.
