This is a home where two families vacation and include their grown families and grandchildren. Everybody has some entertainment they enjoy from the nearby golf to quick access to the lake for swimming, waterskiing, or fishing. Everything to accommodate family cooking/grilling. It is easy to get there (even trailering a boat) as the area interstates connect to a recently built 4 lane corridor at Hopkinsville that goes all the way to Cadiz.
The Owner purchased this house in 1995
Lake Barkley area is actually where we grew up and our families have lived there for well over 100 years. We have local Civil War, WWI, and WWII veterans from this area.
We are a neighbor to one of Kenucky's best parks,Lake Barkley State Resort Park. The park has a restaurant open all year, golf course, boat launch, marina, fitness center, pool, beach, hiking, and horseback riding,
What a great experience. The house was so comfortable and kid friendly. My boys were able to get up and fish from the dock whenever they wanted. More than adequate kitchen supplied with everything you need. You can just show up with food and clothes and be set to stay. The owners were so helpful and nice. When we weren't able to bring our boat to fish they were able to connect us with a fishing guide that was outstanding. Close to boat ramp and marina. We will definitely be back to stay. Best set up yet we've found.
We stayed at this house a couple of years ago and decided to return. The open floor plan met our needs perfectly. There was a new large screen, wall mounted TV in the great room and a couch that gave us plenty of room. The dock made it convenient to fish a couple of times a day, the wildlife made walking a pleasure, and the great weather made September a time when we would visit again. We had rain one day, but there was a game table (lots of games and puzzles) and the screened porch for kids/adults. We ate at Barkley Lodge one night, which is less than five miles away so that's a nice option. We would go there again.
The only comment is that the kitchen drawers and cabinets seemed to be totally messed-up, and too many of one thing and not enough of another,,...example: hardly any bowls, but dozens of glasses and silverware.
Everything else was great, and clean, and comfortable. Perhaps a page in the book about access to the near-by Fitness Center in the Park, etc. would have been helpful.
It is a great deal, but we didn't find out about the pool, etc. until too late.
The house was beautiful & spacious. And an easy walk to the lake & dock. a there was Lake view from house deck which is a priority for us & our family of 6, grown daughters/husbands. My only suggestion would be adding a roof to the boat dock in order to stay out of the sun to fish & during rainy weather.
What started as a fishing trip turned into a whole family trip. The fishing was really good, and it was very convenient having a boat slip at the dock down the hill. We enjoyed seeing deer in the yard every day, and we also saw wild turkeys, geese, and ducks. I like almost anything outdoors so I really enjoyed the place. The national recreation area "Land Between the Lakes is near by. They have biking, hiking trails, a buffalo herd, and some interesting outdoor activities. I called home and asked my wife, kids, and grand kids to come down for the weekend. They did and we spent the rest of the time exploring the area. After talking to the locals we found that during the spring, summer, and fall there's plenty to do and see. Swimming, boating, water skiing, shopping, and of course fishing. The grand kids really liked it and look forward to going back this summer.
The house itself is really nice, and well taken care of. I can't think of anything we needed in a place to stay that we didn't have.
It is located near a large state park resort and you can rent boats and kayaks, visit the fitness center, eat in their restaurant, etc. etc. There is just plenty to do or not to do whatever you want. It is close enough to the town of Cadiz to find whatever you want.
We will be back for sure.
What a nice place! There were nine of us that were there for a family get-together. The boat dock is just like the picture shows, close, but not too close if you have young ones with you. Also, you can swim in the dock area since the semi-private dock (only 3 boats when we were there) is tucked away in a cove. While boating we saw a few carp jump out of the water, caught some fish (and had a big fish fry one night), and even caught a couple of turtles that we released within a few minutes of catching them. We also did some water skiing/sports in the area and were happy to find this area of the lake smooth and uncrowded. The screened-in porch is a nice bug-free place to eat or sit and see an occasional deer. Sleeping areas were comfortable and having three bathrooms really made showering easy. I noticed that the pictures don't show the new living room furniture. It is very nice! The kitchen is large and allowed us plenty of both cooking and storage space. If you want to eat out, Barkley Lodge is close by via boat or car. Finally, I want to say how nice the lady was when we called with questions. I'm sure we will go there again!
Land Between the Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area, has mountain biking trails, wildlife viewing, elk, Bison, bald eagles, deer, wild turkey, etc. Patti's 1880s Settlement is a great restaurant in LBL.
