We as a family live in the upper part of the house and we use our own front door.We rent the apartment for over 20 years and a lot of guests return over and over. Liesbeth spent her childhood in the house and our children already left for their studies and independed life.
My husband is working in a hospital as a pediatric surgeon and I love to be a Montessori teacher.
Our 3 children are bussy with their study in Amsterdam.
We lived in new York while my husband was working as a childrens oncologist. We like to share our house with people from other countries. We use VRBO often our selves and think that it is very nice to live like locals in different places in the world.
Liesbeth purchased this apartment in 1964
In august we have the gay parade in front of our house, on Queens day (april 30) the free market is all around us, In winter time you can skate on the canal in front.
The garden is an extra area to sit, drink, smoke and eat in summer time.
The bread specialist is around the corner, ABERCROMBIE & FITCH just started around the corner, the flee-market and daily market are on walking distance........and so on, please see by yourself.
Most guests love to live like a 'local'
This part of the city is one of the most friendly and beautiful ones.
boats passing by, cafee's with people sitting outside enjoying the sun.
The houses on this canal make you feel like walking around in a museum.
What a wonderful apartment we had the fortune of being able to spend 4 days in during January 2015.
Everything is as described and what a perfect location to be in (you would not think that you were in the middle of a major city). Beautiful Canals, great local restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries and friendly people. Visit the local Dark / Light Health shop a couple of streets away for an amazing warm ginger drink (maybe only during winter?). The Prinsengracht area is certainly the place to be, you can easily walk or take the tram to just about any touristy or historical place. Also if you go to Amsterdam Centraal Station; day trips via bus to Muiderslot (Castle) and Zaanse Schans (windmills - Bus 391) and canal cruising was so simple and easy.
Highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Amsterdam in Winter as it was cosy and warm. The whole experience was topped off by a accommodating and easy to communicate (via email and on arrival) host. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
We just got home from a fantastic stay in this lovely apartment. The owner made it all very easy for us. The place was spotless and very nicely decorated with a beautiful back yard area that we could get to from the windowed french doors in the bedroom. The location was perfect, and it was so quiet and peaceful to sleep there! Located perfectly in the middle of the city, we could walk to everything and it was always nice for a pitstop to warm up. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Amsterdam. Thank you Lisebeth!
Two friends and myself stayed in this lovely little street level apartment for three nights and it was absolutely the most magnificent experience. We arrived to a very warm welcome from the owner who was always around in case of any trouble, questions, etc, which were few and far between. If you are looking to stay in a quite but very CENTRAL part of the city, this rental is perfect for you. We never had to take a taxi anywhere but to and from the aiport and still got to see absolutely everything and more because we were on foot. The front of the apartment faces a beautiful canal lined with fluffy trees, bikes, and boats that float up and down the water. The street is safe, quiet, clean, and everything you picture Amsterdam to be. The interior is cozy, warm, and spaciously laid out to give the most comfortable stay. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the kitchen perfectly equipped with everything you might need from scissors to coffee to cooking ware. It felt just like home and we were honestly so sad to have to leave. There is also a nice flatscreen in the bedroom, making it the perfect place to cuddle up after a long day out in the cold, as well as a nice little terraced garden in the back with outdoor patio furniture. I really can't express how lovely our stay here was, for every reason you could imagine! If you aren't sure where to stay, choose this apartment!
Liesbeth described her property and it location perfectly. My husband and I stayed on Prinsegracht for almost three weeks. Liesbeth was very helpful, especially by calling KLM several times on our behalf as one of our pieces of luggage was left behind in California. When she travelled her daughter was available for questions. The apartment is cozy, quiet and very comfortable. Kitchen amenities are more than adequate, and there is a washing machine and drying rack which are a bonus. Liesbeth provided additional linens and sheets for our extended stay. The apartment is set-up for 2-3 people, yet we easily entertained two friends of ours who were staying in a nearby hotel (table for eating was small for 4 people, but we managed). Also, the apartment has a small library with fiction as well as travel books and maps which were quite helpful.
While the apartment is close to tram lines, Amsterdam is a very walkable city. Set off in any direction from the apartment to discover beautiful architecture, friendly people and a variety of shops and places to eat or have coffee. There is a wonderful open-air market (M-Sa) which offers breads, cheeses, meats, vegetables and fruits, as well as an array of clothing and other items. Two grocery stores (one organic) are extremely close by, as are restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops. The Rijksmuseum is within easy walking distance as is the "Nine Streets" shopping area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would recommend to our friends and relatives and would definitely stay there again.
Lovely apt. on canal with easy access to major art museums. Very quiet and a great bed. We found at least five terrific restaurants within a three block walk, but you are also set up to prepare your own meals if you care to. Comfortable and homey, safe and warm. I'm just sorry I didn't have more time, it's a great city. I plan to return next year and will stay at Liesbeths apt. again.
