Playacar Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Our penthouse has million-dollar views and you can throw a rock into the ocean from the balcony!

If the idea of a small beachfront resort, a short stroll (10 min) on the beach into town to try a new restaurant and having a private driver greet you at Cancun airport with an icy cold beer waiting for you appeals to you (rather than a large all-inclusive resort with lots of buffet lines) than look no further, you can stop your search! My beachfront penthouse offers ALL of this and more:

1) 24 hour security in gated community and on the resort grounds with 2-3 times the size of beachfront as other resorts and it's BOUTIQUE, just 50 units total!!!

2) Restaurant, casual grill, swim-up and lobby bars, optional all inclusive plan?

3) Free use of bikes, kayaks, Hobie Cats, Windsurfers, boogie boards & snorkel gear?

4) Full service spa a nice oceanfront fitness center?

5) Swimming pools and Jacuzzi?

6) WiFi available in condo, throughout the resort & pool and beach- free of charge

7) Thermostat controlled AC & ceiling fans throughout the condo?

8) Fisherman's Village is a QUIET resort in a quiet gated community! Sure you can opt to stay 'downtown' in a newer condo or all inclusive, but don't forget to pack your ears'll be hearing loud music, rowdy drunks, and party-goers till the wee hours of the morning.

Compare all you receive above at Fisherman's Village and the low prices we are now offering.....and book today!

BEDDING: King in Master, Either two twins or a SPLIT-KING in 2nd room, and futon couch in living room. 2.5 bths.

Fisherman's Village in the private gated community of Playacar, right next to the town of Playa del Carmen. It's perfect for two couples with a king and a split-king in the 2nd bedroom OR a family because the split king can also be two twin beds.

Fisherman's Village is a luxurious beachfront condominium complex with just 60 units in the quiet coastal community of Playacar just a 10 minute walk to Playa del Carmen. Fisherman's Village is known to be the nicest quality resort/condo complex in the entire Yucatan Peninsula for it's elegance, fine service, and resort-like amenities such as a full service restaurant, room service, swim-up pool bar, full sized pool and a children's pool, water sports, jacuzzis for the complex, air conditioned gym, Spa services such as massage, facials, pedicures and manicures too.

This unit has travertine flooring, slab marble counter-tops, central air conditioning and ceiling fans throughout. Don't just take my word for it, read my past guest reviews below!

My unit in Fisherman's Village is furnished with hand-carved Mexican furniture, paintings from local artisans and soft 300 thread count cotton linens. The other two are furnished slightly differently, but all with excellent taste in decor.

The entire upper floor is the Master Suite with huge picture windows out to the Sea. The bottom level features 2nd bedroom, bath, kitchen, living, half bath and dining areas and a large balcony overlooking the pool, beach and ocean. At night you can stand on any of the units balconies and see the twinkling lights of Cozumel across the Caribbean.

One NEW feature of Fisherman's Village is an optional Meal Plan. This is your option which can be decided after you arrive at the complex and used one day, but not the next if you choose. This includes two meals and unlimited drinks including cocktails all day & night! Write or call me for more info.

Free for all guest's use at Fisherman's Village are the bicycles, kayaks, boogie boards and snorkel gear! It's a fabulous place for adults and kids alike.

Playa Del Carmen is located just 40 minutes South of Cancun and offers the same powdery white sand and turquoise waters, great restaurants and shopping-- without crowds of wild Spring Break partiers and towering hotels. In fact, Playa has a building height restriction to a maximum of 3 stories!

Fisherman's Village is just a 10 minute walk along quiet cobblestone roads or the beach to the town of Playa del Carmen. Also within a short walk is the 18 hole golf course, tennis courts, the local aviary, and the ferry that takes you over to Cozumel. Most guests do not rent a car during their stay except days they wish to explore other areas of the Yucatan. If you plan on lounging on the beach, shopping and eating out in Playa del Carmen, maybe taking the ferry to Cozumel one day-- you may not want a car the entire time. We can recommend reliable airport transportation to and from Cancun International to Fisherman's Village.

Available Options: Babysitting, Bicycles, kayaks, sailboats, snorkeling gear, sailboard, and rafts. Nearby Horseback riding on the beach, scuba diving and snorkeling.

For additional sized units, please contact us for more details. I have many more photos too...just email or call me!

About Pamela

I am a California native that moved to Boulder, CO in 1994. As passionate as I am about the mountains, I missed the beach so much I bought this 2 Bedroom/2.5 bth penthouse in 1996. Playa del Carmen is so much prettier and fun than the beaches of Southern California! If you have never been down there, feel free to call me. I've been going down to this part of the world since 1988.

Pamela purchased this condo in 1996

Why Pamela chose Playacar

We love to vacation here ourselves. Our boys have grown up at Fisherman's, learned to swim here and boogie boarded the first time in the beach in front of this property. There are butterflies, an aviary full of birds, ghost crabs, iguanas and lots of exploring to do. Mom and Dad like to swim, bicycle and relax but occasionally take in a seaside massage that is offered by Fisherman's Village. We also love the town of Playa del Carmen...5th Avenue is really fun for shopping and dining.

What makes this condo unique

If you like the best of both worlds, you'll love it at Fisherman's Village! Not only do you get a great sized condos with a full living, dining room and kitchen, but you also have all the amenities of a small exclusive hotel such as an optional meal plan that includes unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and two meals for $58 per day!

Great condo on the water

  • 5 of 5

The condo was great and the staff were all very nice. Lovely setup for sitting on the beach in front of the restaurant. A short walk to 5th Ave shops, the Cozumel Ferry and Hertz car rental. We rented a car and drove to the Coba ruins one day, and explored Dos Ojos cenote another.

Fabulous Property!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed very comfortably for a week at this lovely condo and never got tired of the views we got to wake up to. The weather was hot so we spent alot of time relaxing on the resort loungers on the beach where the breeze kept us cool. From there we would just wade out into that gorgeous turquoise water to hang out and chat while the kids played nearby.

The resort staff were friendly, fun and helpful; they got us set up with tons of towels everyday and fins for snorkeling at Akumal, a nearby town, where they take their turtle conservation very seriously. We also traveled down to tour the ruins and town at Tulum which is an easy hop from the condo as well!

We walked into town and had some really nice dinners in Playa every night of our stay. The condo was well set up to cook in which we did for breakfasts and lunch; there are many large grocery stores in town or street vendors with food carts which was all really convienent.

The kids had a blast playing beach volleyball at the resort and pool games with other guests; everyone seemed to be enjoying their holiday at Fishermans! We certainly did and would highly recommend the condo and resort to anyone considering staying in the area.

Outstanding Ocean Front Penthouse in great resort in Playa del Carmen

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from a week in Playa del Carmen where my daughters and I stayed in a stunning 2-story penthouse condo right on the beach at the Royal Sunset Fisherman's Resort. The condo was perfect. 2 bedrooms (upstairs a really nice master suite facing the ocean with a king and its own full bathroom and sitting area; the downstairs BDR has 2 doubles), 2.5 bathrooms, modern kitchen with all the appliances/cookware etc you could ask for. Nice living room & dining area with a great view of the ocean. Even better view from the spacious outside balcony. Fisherman's resort is a real winner too. Really nice pool with fountains/infinity edge, swim up bar. They provide free single/double kayaks, free hobie-cat sailboat (they also have a guy who will skipper it for you if you dont know how to sail). All kinds of fun activities too, especially for kids. Ocean was very safe and kid-friendly. Really friendly and helpful staff. Property is about a 10 minute walk (2 minute drive) to town as well as the ferry that goes to Cozumel (a must do by the way, only 40 minutes, $25/roundtrip). Many tremendous restaurants within walking distance, as well as street-side stands where many of the locals eat (my personal favorites).

The condo owner was so helpful. She made the reservation process really easy and provided us with a bunch of great insider tips regarding local restaurants, things to do, etc. On-site management was equally gracious and professional.

Only caveat is that the penthouse has two stories so if you can't climb stairs it might not be the best place for you.

I cannot wait to return to Playa and will definitely try to reserve this condo next time as well. My girls and I felt so at home, so comfortable, and so wowed by the view and the condo itself. I've vacationed in mexico 50+ times --- this was the best yet!

Perfect getaway for much needed R&R

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and are two kids stayed at this lovely penthouse for our summer holiday. We were not disappointed at all. The photos on VRBO don't even do the views from the penthouse justice. It's a stunning view of the beach, pool and ocean! The staff at Fisherman's was friendly and accommodating and had a lot of activities for adults and kids throughout the day from volleyball, yoga, Jenga, margarita tastings, water aerobics, etc. There were plenty of new beach chairs and umbrellas to escape the sun when we needed a break. The beach here is wide and clean with no annoying vendors that we have experienced "in town" when we stayed here before. We thought the stroll to town was easy (10 minutes) so we would walk into town each night for dinner. There are plenty of choices in restaurants so sometimes we would eat cheap tacos and other times we would choose an excellent seafood restaurant. If you were young and single, there are plenty of bars and clubs too....but we were usually asleep by the time that action got started. We will definitely be back again!

Owner's Response: Paula, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and we would love for you to return anytime! In case you ever want to come back with just your husband for a romantic vacation, I can rent the penthouse without the smaller bedroom and bath, charging less money! Thanks again for choosing our penthouse! Sincerely, Pamela & family

Good Vacation, Room for Improvement

  • 3 of 5

We had a good vacation overall, but unfortunately, it started out a bit rough. We arrived at the resort around 9 o'clock at night, only to find that our condo had been given to someone else! We were assured that the situation would be rectified and we would be able to move the next day at noon. The condo we were placed in was not adequately supplied with what was expected, enough bedding to accommodate an extra person we had joining us later, etc. We didn't bother unpacking or getting settled. Upon visiting the front desk the next morning to confirm the move, there was a new staff member there who knew NOTHING about the situation. Frustration hit an all time high for me! The manager was finally brought into the situation later that afternoon. I was told that they were unable to move the current residents out until the NEXT day.

We were given compensation by the manager of an all-inclusive meal day because of the error made, which we partially took advantage of, but were gone a lot of the day so I don't think it was worth what it was valued at. I personally think the resort should have compensated us for two nights for the inconvenience, having to worry about accommodations instead of enjoying the vacation with the kids, and having to move luggage and groceries up and down two flights of stairs when we moved. It definitely interrupted our day!

There were a few minor things that we noticed requiring repairs such as lost tiles in the pool, hinges on kitchen cabinets needing tightening, one almost falling off if you opened it, a few lights and ceiling fans not working, but again, minor inconveniences).

The resort is in a good location for activities. You can walk into town, take the ferry to Cozumel, arrange tours to Tulum, Dolphin experience, day fishing trips, etc. All were amazing. The activities coordinator, Andy, was also fantastic. A definite high point!

We unfortunately had one more unpleasant experience on check out day, set at 11am. The maid showed up at 9am. She was told, in Spanish, that we would not be leaving until 11. She left, came back about 20 minutes later, and proceeded to move in her cleaning equipment and cleaned around us as we tried to eat, pack, etc. I felt like we were being pushed out!

Pamela was made aware of all of our complaints, and has reassured me that she will work hard to make sure they do not happen again in the future.

Owner's Response: In 16 years of owning this penthouse, I have never had a guest that was not allowed to check into my unit because other people were put into it. I am the ONLY person that books rentals in my unit and communicate to the management a few times a week about new guests arriving. I am still unclear what happened, but I was told there were a couple of new people at the the front desk that made a terrible error in letting the wrong guests check-in. I am terribly sorry for the trouble The Burch family had in checking in! I was assured that they were given an identical penthouse as mine, next door in fact and that it had the same bedding including the pullout in the living room. The management felt so bad for the error that they were given the all inclusive plan for 5 guests for a day plus free maid service plus received 20% discount on all other food/beverages and spa treatments for their entire stay. That equates to over a $300 value (not including whatever the discount on food/beverage and spa came to) and at the time of accepting this compensation, they seemed satisfied with this. Now, after the stay, the guest feels that getting an additional two nights reimbursed would make her happy. I have presented this to the management, but that would equate to a 40% compensation (with the all inclusive plan) of their entire rental which I think is excessive given they received an identical unit except for a couple of kitchen items and had the bellmen at Fisherman's standing by to help them move next door to my unit. I was a travel agent for over 12 years and never saw that level of compensation offered by even 5 star resorts. I assure all future renters that this problem of being given a different unit will never happen again because we put a renter verification system in place at check-in. Also all maintenance issues were addressed regarding loose hinges and such. We have a maintenance team on staff every day ready to fix anything! One last thing that the Burch family failed to mention in her review was that they fished quite a few times during their stay and that the restaurant staff at Fisherman's went above and beyond deliciously preparing and serving their fresh catch along with sides for them to eat in the restaurant. She raved about how wonderful of an experience was to me on the phone.

Fantastic View, Great Small Resort, Quiet Location

  • 5 of 5

I'm not usually one to write a review, but Fisherman's Village exceeded my expectations. This small condo resort had a great pool, a sprinkling of activities (pottery painting, pool volleyball, catamaran, kayak, etc.), a very clean beach with plenty of chairs -- even during Spring Break - and no thumping of a club nearby. The larger resorts are south of Fisherman's so you are not fighting a crowd. Their concierge area was very helpful. They could have increased staffing at the bar/snacks area, but we joked that everything was a "Mexican Minute" (i.e. 15 minutes). The staff was very friendly -- most spoke English. The activities desk has books, boogie boards, towels, and life vests for you to use. The unit is about a 10-15 min walk to get to downtown. The condo itself had a spectacular, largely unobstructed view of the ocean. I will say the photos do not do it justice. Our first reaction when walking in was "WOW!". We were very happy here the week we spent. The master bedroom area upstairs is HUGE with another spectacular view. Having the outside deck was fantastic to take in morning and afternoon sun. There was ample room for storing luggage and clothes . All three bathrooms were updated although the toilets proved troublesome (clogged several times). The kitchen was tiny but updated. We had little room to store dry food, however due to its size. Pots, pans and dishes supplied were adequate. There were a few books and magazines and Yahtze if you needed help with entertainment. It was great to have the boogie boards available although some sand buckets would have also been nice for smaller kids. I would rank the condition of the condo as very good -- not getting excellent as it showed a few signs of being a rental like an end table with a loose/crooked leg and a few things in need of slight repair (kitchen door hinges needed tightening, the toilets clogged often, and the laundry line in the shower was dangling - all minor things. My only suggested improvement is if there was a way to add a "bridge" for the gap when you pushed the two twin beds together in the second bedroom due to the headboards not allowing for a full merge. We were trying to squeeze three boys into the 2 beds and the gap was a problem. We ended up having the littlest one sleep on the futon in the living room (which was a great option to have). The owner, Pam, gives you plenty of helpful information upon booking, then is very hands-off. I would, hands-down, book this condo again!

Owner's Response: Vicki, Thanks for the review and being detailed enough that I can make the improvements needed to not have any problems! I plan on having the maintenance team get the hinges tightened and toilets snaked and I'll be down there in a couple of months to buy new toilets if necessary and fix the end table which I just learned had issues. It's through you kind renters that we owners learn about things that need fixing, so I really appreciate it. I'm missing my Playa del Carmen penthouse so much and wish I had that view here in Colorado, but the Rockies aren't too bad to look at either. :) Sincerely, Pamela
