The River House is a private home that stands on three and one half acres of peaceful, wooded privacy on the south shore of the tidal Neuse River. Central heat and air and ceiling fans provide year round climate comfort. Its three upstairs bedrooms, all with TV's, sleep nine and there is room so that two or three more small-fry could always find a place to sleep. The living room's large windows provide a panoramic view of the river, and its two sofas and two easy chairs provide plenty of seating room to enjoy the big TV or the wood burning fireplace. In the dining room, the large table can easily seat eight and the adjacent bar can handle two more for meals. The kitchen is furnished with all appliances, dishes and utensils a cook could need. In the popular game room you will find a full size pool table, a game table, a selection of board games, a dart board and another TV.

Further details for this vacation house rental in Havelock, North Carolina

Outside in the peace and quiet, the large deck overlooks the river that is three miles wide and stretches out into the Pamlico Sound to the East as far as the eye can see. There you can relax in the hammock or sit in one of the big rocking chairs and watch the great blue herons and the stealthy ospreys work the river for tasty seafood morsels. The grounds offer a private sandy beach and a grassy yard with plenty of space for all kinds of fun and games - horseshoes, badminton, croquet, volleyball, softball or football just to name a few. The waters of the Neuse here offer an abundance of blue crabs and fish of many varieties. All can be caught right out on the River House fishing dock which has been rebuilt in 2005. Flounder gigging is also an excellent after dark pastime here on summer nights. Boating is wonderful in this area. The River House is diagonally across the river from Oriental, the sailing capital of North Carolina.

The River House has its own boat ramp where small boats and jet skis can be launched. There is a deep water marina 1/2 mile away. For those who want some ocean time, Atlantic Beach is only forty minutes away. For those who want to do some special shopping or sight seeing, historic Beaufort, New Bern and Morehead City are all within thirty to forty minutes. Golfers will find the Links golf course only twenty minutes away. You can find grocery stores, drug stores, restaurants, movie theater, etc. in Havelock which is twelve miles away. The River House is truly a wonderful place for family fun, for friends to gather, for sportsmen to make a home base, or even for business groups to hold team building retreats. A small apartment on the ground level is occupied by our grounds keeper and property security guard. He is also available to provide our guests local information and driving directions.

This home or vacation home is a nice get away for familys.. This is a very beauitful location with lots to do. My family stayed here for a week in July 2005 and it was a wonderful place , really nice acomidation, nice utilities, very clean and just a wonderful place all together...This house has a beauitful view of the neuse River and all kinds of fishing and games...The house in itself is a relaxing retreat..It is only 1 hour away from the ocean (Atlantic Beach), where you can take your family for a fun filled day..NOt far from town to just run out and grab some groceries or anything else you might need..The family whom owns this home are a very sweet and loveing couple. They will do there best to accomidate your needs... this house is awsome and highly recomended and is very private...I just have to say great place very nice,...

Excellent Property

Review Submitted: November 19, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
Our stay recently was wonderful!! Beautiful house, plenty of amenities, very clean, awesome scenery. We will stay here again when visiing our Marine at Cherry Point next year. I would recommend this house to anyone. We enjoyed Fort Macon, The NC Aquarium, downtown New Bern, and many Mexican restaurants in the area. The owner is very nice and prompt on answering any questions we had. Wish we had more time to explore is our only complaint!

My family enjoyed this property and we had a great stay. There are plenty of things to do on property, or you can just sit on the deck and do nothing. It has plenty of room inside and out, with a great view. It's close enough to the beaches to enjoy time there. The owner was attentive and the property was clean and well maintained.

Family reunion and fishing on the river.

Review Submitted: July 12, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
this was a super vacation for me and my family. The grand kids loved the fishing and the beach at the river house.I caught trout, drum and I had a throw net which I caught mullet with from the boat dock. There is lots of room out doors for playing . The long and the short of it is that the whole vacation was superb and I would be delighted to return for another three weeks of vacation in the future.
