This superb studio apartment is on the main street of the Ile St. Louis, on the ground floor looking onto a small courtyard. The apartment is located in a 1750s building and has been freshly renovated with beautiful stone floors throughout. The queen sized bed sleeps two very comfortably and is fitted with Ralph Lauren sheets. From there, you can watch a little late night TV on cable with top quality LCD. WI-FI is also available.
The kitchen and counter space are done in black granite and offers two bar chairs for light dinners and a pleasant area to relax with a glass of wine. Nescafe expresso machine makes excellent expresso and is super easy to use. There is an excellent stove and microwave for cooking. The bathroom features stone tiles from Burgundy, and oversized designer bath towels and bathrobes. The glass bottom sink from Villeroy & Boch is a marvel of design. The shower is like standing in warm summer rain.
This apartment is located on the ground floor with big windows offering a lot of daylight facing the courtyard. As you exit the building, there is a grocery store just in front, a bakery on the right, and a cheese shop on the left. Charming restaurants line the street in either direction, but my favorite is the Alsation bar, which has a magnificent bistro area at the entrance for an aperitif!
-no walking up stairs (historical monuments = no elevators)
-kept super clean
-local owner (Paris-based American)
-payment is made upon arrival

I'm the Academic Director at a university here in Paris and have been actively engaged in teaching in a variety of other settings in Europe. I'm from the US and have lived in Rome, Lugano, and Paris. I feel drawn to Paris because it has everything that you could ever want. This is a city that finds a way to satisfy so many different needs with (mostly) good common sense.
Jeffrey Klein purchased this apartment in 2008
Being on the Rue St. Louis en l'Ile is the prefect spot in Paris, with everything you could want just at your fingertips! You can find music in the streets at any time of year, and in the summer there's no better place for an evening picnic on the cobblestone riverbanks of the Seine. And a stroll after dinner along the tree-lined quai, with the city lights sparkling all around you, is extraordinarily romantic.
It's probably worth mentioning that only on the Ile St. Louis can you see Paris most famous monuments in one gaze...the Notre Dame church, the Pantheon, the Eiffel Tower, and the Hotel de Ville.
It's a very relaxing ambience, from the ancient stone walls to the old wooden beams, it induces a sense of calm and well-being. The delicious smell of croissants in the morning is unique to Paris and with the baker's atelier in the little courtyard, the aroma of croissants is a seductive one. It's very important to be on the ground floor because most buildings on the Ile St. Louis don't have elevators. And, I like the fact that the big windows enables lots of light to enter. Guests will also feel pampered by the the contemporary kitchen and bathroom, featuring designer bathrobes and towels.
What a great location in the heart of Paris. Just across the bridge from the Metro and within walking distance to many of Paris' sites including Notre Dame. The bustling neighborhood offers many conveniences including a fantastic bakery next door, a cheese shop, shopping and delicious Berthillion ice cream (don't miss it). The apartment itself is very small, but tucked away in a quite enclave. The smells of the bakery next door added to the ambiance. Would definitely consider this on a repeat stay!
If location is your #1 priority, this is perfect. First floor, quiet street with everything you could want in the heart of Paris. Very comfortable with modern bathroom and kitchen features. We walked 8.5 miles a day stopping several times a day at the apartment.
My wife and I stayed here for a few days around Christmas. The location is extremely nice with the shops, bakery, grocery, etc. all extremely close. We were surprised of how quiet this location is, and waking up to the smells of the bakery were an added treat. Staying in an apartment over of hotel is definitely our way to go and this was a perfect choice for us. We did plenty of sight seeing and many could be walked to. Safe location, helpful owner and assistant... we will return in the future. Many thanks!
My wife and I stayed here recently and couldn't have been more satisfied. The small apartment is comfortable and convenient. A fantastic location enables you to walk to many of the famous sites in Paris. Everything is at your fingertips including the metro, bus lines, a grocery shop across the cobblestone street from you, a bakery right next door to get your croissants for breakfast. Chez Klein is a perfect spot from which to base your Paris adventure.
My husband and I stayed here and loved this studio! The studio is exactly as described. We loved the back of the building location -- and had no problems with any noise. The location is so perfect. We loved being in the middle of everything. It was a great spot for exploring Paris (by walking). We also enjoyed a great meal across the street at Mon Vieil Ami. Jeff was great to deal with - and we were met promptly for check in and check out. Our security deposit was refunded shortly after our departure. Highly recommend this little slice of heaven!
My wife and I have been lucky to have visited Paris several times for a month or more in the past several years. This apartment was our 6th different apartment and was, by far, our favorite ! We are retired teachers and loved that it was completely secure and on the ground floor....as in NO STEPS ! It was our first time staying on Ile St. Louis and the location was magical. Many have called the apartment small, but in Paris, that is relative. We have stayed in apartments that were less than 20 sq. meters....this really is 30. The bed is a real bed, not a futon and was very comfortable. The kitchen has everything we needed....and, for those who love their espressos, a Nespresso machine that worked perfectly. Paula even left us a tube of capsules to get us started. We experienced zero difficulty with noise from the boulangerie and loved having it steps away from us each morning. The owner is wonderful and his wares are fantastic. I could go on and on.....but, I think, my finest endorsement is that we will, if possible, stay in that same apartment for next years month long visit to Paris. This is the first apartment our of 6 that we have wanted to revisit.
