LOVELY HISTORIC HOME-SULLIVAN'S IS.- BEACH 100 YDS, PET FRIENDLY

Sullivans Island House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8) Charleston 20 min; Pets warmly considered

Our traditional and, folks tell us, very charming and warm old island home - with recent historic designation - is located a few yards from the beautiful path to the beach and is just 20 minutes from Charleston.

Sullivan's Island is across the Inland Waterway with semi-tropical terrain, wide, sandy beaches, historic Fort Moultrie, a lively and varied restaurant area, public tennis courts and an old-time playground with grandstand gazebo.

,

Most pets warmly welcomed!

Go crabbing, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, and sailing in the ocean or in the inlets and creeks leading to the waterway. Sullivan's Island is the site of novels of many well-known authors: Edgar Allen Poe (The Gold Bug), DuBose Heyward (Porgy and Bess), and Pat Conroy (The Prince of Tides).

Just 15 yards away from the footpath to the beautiful beach on the Atlantic Ocean, the duplex's upper level has private entrances, four bedrooms (one King, two with double beds, one with twin beds), two baths, and comfortably accommodates eight people. Living room, dining room; Ceiling fans in each room. Central Air Conditioning/Heat. Large screened front porch; Rooftop Deck with 360 degree views of the ocean, the harbor and the island.

The large, screened, front porch with plush furniture serves as a second living area. A winding staircase at the end of the porch leads to a fully furnished rooftop deck with gorgeous 360-degree views of the ocean and island.

Gather and Relax

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed getting married near Charleston and brought our friends and family to the beach house to have a wonderful taste of the lowcountry. It was relaxing, beautiful and truely a wonderful vacation spot. Everything was furnished, a fully fuctional kitchen and the beach at Sullivans's Island is still non-commerical and one of the finest. The local food, friends from many states, and the wonderful furnishings of the beachhouse made this a priceless memory. I would recommend this rental to anyone who is ready to relax in true island form.

We had the pleasure of staying on Sullivan's Island at Rachels' beautiful home the last week of May 2014. Beginning with our initial inquiry through VRBO until we checked out Rachel, and her hospitable neighbor Mr Kurtz, provided us with first class treatment. The home is charming and literally minutes from the beach and most other amenities including the beautiful city of Charleston. From our daily bike rides to evenings on the rooftop deck we could not have had a more relaxing week.
Thank You Rachel!

Classy Beach House!

  • 5 of 5
This was a wonderful home to enjoy time with close friends and my family. The first part of the week, we had some very close friends from our "school" days in Charleston many years ago to join us. The week was so beautiful, weather wise, and we were able to have many great discussions and particularly enjoy the rooftop deck! The path to the ocean is not far and the beach was beautiful! When our friends left, my children and their spouses joined us for the weekend. Everyone had a grand time and many, many great memories were made throughout the week. Everyone loved this classy old home, which, by the way, is very comfortable and clean. It is not far at all to make the trip to Mt. Pleasant, downtown Charleston, or in the other direction, to the Isle of Palms. Every restaurant that we went to was excellent, and Sullivan's Island itself has excellent places to dine in the small downtown area, which is less than five minutes from the home. There is no grocery store in Sullivan's Island or the Isle of Palms, but Mt. Pleasant is very close by, just over the Ben Sawyer Bridge going into Sullivan's Island. It is a drawbridge, so unless you may have to "wait" for a few minutes, which does not happen often, you can be in Mt. Pleasant, which has any and everything that one would need, in just minutes. Rachel, the owner, is a very pleasant lady to work with, and is very easily accessible in case of any need. I would definitely recommend this lovely home!!

Great Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5
We have stayed here for two years in a row and will stay here next summer as well. We had everything we needed and had a great time. Rachel has always been wonderful and very helpful. We were close to Charleston and all vacation activities. We could walk to the beach and relax later on the rooftop deck. Truly a great place to stay!

A Treasure on Sullivan's Island!

A Treasure on Sullivan's Island!
  • 5 of 5
When we first saw this Sullivan’s Island home listed in VBRO, we fell in love, and we knew—simply knew—that we had to stay there when we visited Charleston, SC. After we arrived, we remained just as much in love! In all actuality, we appreciated the fact that this is a vintage Sullivan’s Island home filled with quaint charm and unique historical intrigue. It's a treasure! At sunrise, we loved strolling along the beach and drinking coffee, or just sitting on the screened porch enjoying the early morning calm--a fresh brewed cup in hand. And, at the end of a busy day of biking and sightseeing, what better way to wind down and celebrate than having cocktails on the rooftop deck, looking out toward the ocean, the sky graced with giant kites. Throughout our stay, we found that this Sullivan's Island treasure had everything we could possibly need. The beds were exceedingly comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, flatware, glassware, cookware, tools and utensils. It was perfect for us. When we left after our week’s stay, we vowed to return—and we will. More, we felt that we had found a new best friend in the owner who is a superb communicator and long-distance host. Thanks for your awesome hospitality!

Wonderful vacation!

  • 5 of 5
Rachel, we had such a relaxing and wonderful time at your beach house. The location is perfect---close to the beach but not over run with crowds. We really enjoyed the sky deck. We spent afternoons up there with friends from Mt. Pleasant. My husband also took advantage of the screened porch (especially for little naps!). The house feels steeped in history and was exactly as described. It was very well stocked with everything. The bed and furniture were very comfortable. It is nicely decorated and so roomy. We are planning to return--if not for the winter at least for next spring. Thank you for sharing your beach home with us. It was a delight working with you.

Our charming, old island house is about 100 yards from the very wide and beautiful Sullivan's Island beach and about 20 minutes from historic Charleston SC . Lots of history on the island from Fort Moultrie, the site of the first shot of the Civil War, Revolutionary War sites, to sites of Edgar Allen Poe's many stories for which the island was his inspiration.
