About Ed White

My family loves Primehook Beach. The kids are growing up and their busy schedules keep us from going to the beach for the summer. I am a retired police detective and now own several small real estate related companies. We hope you will make this your home away from home.

Ed White purchased this cottage in 1998

Why Ed White chose Prime Hook Beach

This is a natural beach with no retail, hustle or bustle. This beach is a secret! We are close to all of the touristy resorts like Lewes, Rehoboth, Bethany, Dewey, Fenwick Island, and Ocean City. We are about 20 minutes from the Cape May Ferry (even though you can watch it cross the Delaware from the Beach House), and about 20 minutes from the Casino in Harrington. The best part of our beach, when you are here, nothing seems close until you leave. We have internet if you dare!

What makes this cottage unique

Our beach house is located directly on the beach. You can watch the abundance of wildlife as nature intended. There are no crowds...just wildlife and nature at its best!

Ideal for a pure beach getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a really nice little place with everything you need and nothing you don't.

The property was just as advertised. It's right on the beach, and Prime Hook is a private community so it's never crowded. There are no stores, restaurants, bars, etc. so this is a real getaway for those who are self-sufficient and just want to spend time getting some sun, fishing, flying kites, playing in the water, stargazing, etc. We even saw a few dolphins the last day.

Everything worked (having laundry machines is great if you have little kids) and the owners went above and beyond the call of duty to get someone out (twice) when I had trouble with the gas grill.

Highly recommended.

Key Word: Relax

  • 5 of 5

If you love the beach, nature & solitude, this is a great place to stay. Our family & friends truly enjoyed living next to the beach which is your backyard! Primehook Beach was not crowded at all and when the tide was high, swimming was excellent. Our daughter even pet the gentle Manta Rays. We occasionally sat by our dune to have morning coffee, evening wine and even did a celebration "champagne on the beach" night.

For reading and dining the sun-room is a relaxing place to settle in while listening to the gentle waves. The cottage was very clean and comfortable while the kitchen was well supplied with cooking & eating utensils.

Having a fenced in yard was a plus for our dog who could roam free. He also enjoyed swimming, going on beach walks, and he appreciated the air-conditioning in the house.

A few times, my daughter & I walked the narrow road in by the wildlife preserve to photograph the glorious sunsets and the wildlife. The views are astounding!

We did venture out to the outlets and Lewes which are fairly close. I have to mention Irish Eyes in Lewes for lunch or dinner. They are dog friendly and have excellent food & service.

It was a fantastic relaxing week and we hope to return again to this wonderful discovery by the Bay.

Thanks Ed!

Just what we needed

  • 5 of 5

Every thing was amazing from the moment we arrived. We saw dolphins before we were even unpacked. The house was so cozy and we felt at home the moment we stepped inside. It was very clean. Our neighbors were all very nice and helpful with local food and activities. Our cable went out once but it was no problem this just promoted more family time together. The owner was very quick to get the cable issue fixed. His communication throughout the whole time was prompt, pleasant and personal. The beach was amazing especially being so close, our kids could go out with the dog to the beach and play and we were able to see and hear them at all times. We saw amazing things on the beach and took a great hike to the north end of the beach which I recommend to everyone. This truly is a hidden treasure and my only issue with writing this review is it might make it harder to find open time to rent again. I am sure it will book fast. This was by far the greatest vacation our family has ever been blessed with. We cant wait to go back every chance we get for the years to come. This is our home away from home. Thank you Ed for very reasonable rates for such an amazing place. You really helped us create some of the best memories. The surrounding area offers so much to do and see, we merely scratched the surface. I would recommend donuts from the Fractured Prune on Coastal higway, definitely pay a visit to Touch of Italy for fresh cheese and pastries, be sure to visit 2nd street in Lewes the Kidz Ketch was great. There is a lot to do, but it was so hard to leave the comfort, fun and peace of this amazing cottage on the bay. If you have any doubts about staying here don't. You wont be disappointed.

September in Delaware

Most things that were advertised were there: rooms, kitchen equipments, air conditionning. There was a secund bathroom advertised in th bath house but the shower was less than appealin and I had to wash the toilet bowl. it had not been washed for a while. Also the outside grill was a scrap, all rusted, and was not even cleaned when I got there. For the inside bathroom, the shower doors have been repaired to often, the bolts kept coming out of the slide. You had to slide the doors as if you were handling porcelain. Also to reach the owner to get all infos before my arrival was not easy. He kept promising to send me all infos and finally gave me the code to enter by email a week and a half before getting there. The beach was very nice, to bad for the rest but I will not recommend the property. For the price he is renting, he should make an effort. Also he was supposed to send back the credit $100 as our dog passed away before the holliday, wonder if we will get it...

Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This place was amazing! Secluded. Quiet. Tranquil. Exactly what my family needed! The house was very clean and very well maintained. Easily found everything we needed. The sunroom was my main hangout though. The breeze coming from the bay/ocean was so relaxing with the windows open and we hung out there most nights playing games and reading books.

Being right on the beach is huge. You don't have to lug everything to and from the car. We were able to fly a kite, and when the kids got tired of that, just run it to the house real quick and be back in a couple seconds. Lunch time? No packing up everything required, just head into the house, eat, and back to the beach. Can't express just how convenient that was.

The sand was very clean and soft. Not rocky or rough. That was one thing I worried about heading down, but even that was great. Walking the beach and seeing all the horseshoe crabs and other shells that wash is was really fun for us. We had a couple nice bonfires at night which we all loved. I had never done that before and it was just a very cool experience.

Just a quick drive and you are at any shop you need. Close to Rehoboth outlets and boardwalk. So the location is very convenient to get everywhere you would want to go. And speaking of the drive, it was a highlight of our day to make the drive through the conservation to get to the property. We wondered what wildlife we would see. I think our final count was 6 foxes, 7 deer, 2 raccoons, many cranes and other birds, and 1 turtle we saved from the middle of the road.

Ed's communication made everything so simple for us to be prepared for our trip and know what to expect when we got there. He is very involved in making sure you and your family/friends have the best vacation you can possibly have while you are staying at his place. It made our lives easier with less stress to make sure we had everything we need and to not overpack with things we would not need.

This was the best vacation our oldest son. He is a 14 year old pug who has never been to the beach. He loved the house and beach! So glad we were able to bring him along with us.

Overall, this was one of the best family vacations we have taken. Just to get away from it all before the kids had to head back to school was great. Will be a very memorable vacation and one I hope to repeat in the future. And when we do, I will be contacting Ed to come back to this house!

A very serious health crisis nearly kept us from returning to our favorite beachfront hideaway, something that the entire family had been looking forward to all year since we left here last year. I was really ill the week we before we were due to leave and was not at all well enough to travel, but I swear Ed’s little cottage on the bay was calling. We decided at the last minute to throw caution to the wind and head down to the beach which must’ve been just what the doctor ordered because instead of getting sick from the 90 minute ride, I actually began to feel better and continued to enjoy increased energy and well being the entire week. The evening strolls along the beach, though not as long as they were last year, were still as enjoyable, the peacefulness of the community is hallmarked by the warm and friendly people you find in both residents and renters alike. The old fashioned Fourth of July parade and ice cream social was great! I decorated the yard and our dog Floyd in stars and red, white and blue and we sat at the end of the driveway where Floyd enjoyed all of the extra attention he was getting courtesy of the parade participants and I was happy to be feeling like I had finally turned the corner and joined the land of the living again. The week at Ed’s cottage proved to be truly magical because instead of being worse, as we expected with the trip, my lab results were actually slightly better upon out return home. Apparently, my toes in the water and butt in the sand was the only medicine I needed. We are already planning next year’s return and are even comparing our winter schedules and hopefully can find time for a winter escape as well…for health reasons, you know ; ) Thanks again, Ed for everything!
