Carla and I couldn't have been happier with the entire trip. It truly was a dream come true. I had been wanting to visit Conch'd Out for over 2 years, since the first time I found It online. It was everything I had hoped for and more. Rita and Drew were incredibly welcoming, sweet and helpful. They took a personal interest in making sure Carla and I were having the time of our lives.
The home was beautiful and couldn't have had a more breath taking view. It was well supplied with everything you would want to live there as if it were your own home.
A special thanks to Craig for squeezing us in on such short notice. You allowed Carla and I the opportunity to create some incredible memories we will not soon forget. We plan on coming back soon to create even more...
Our family of 5 spent a relaxing 10 days at Conc’d Out in December 2014. Driving from the airport to the house you realize Eleuthera is very rare – beautiful and uncommercialized. Conc’d Out is very private on its large lot, and it is situated on a bluff that straddles a small point over the water. There are beautiful sandy beaches in on either side of the point, but to do a long walk on the beach, water shoes are best to transverse the coral, rocky stretches between beaches. Keep an eye on the ground when walking over the coral and you will likely find lovely sea glass. During our trip in December the highs were in the 70’s but the water was not uncomfortable, we could go in for ½ hour without shivering. Some of us brought 2mm wetsuit tops that allowed us to stay out indefinitely.
The house is simple but spacious and, most importantly, very clean! There are tile floors throughout, easily swept to keep stray sand out. The TV had an extensive channel offerings and a special setup with about 600 movies. The downstairs bedroom can only be reached by going outside, but with a separate bath, 2 queens, and TV it was perfect for our teenagers. The furnishings are modest but clean and well kept, in keeping with the island feel. The kitchen is complete and has plenty of spices, trash bags, dishwasher detergent, etc. I would have to say the best part of staying here is getting to know Andrew and Rita, they are wonderful people – it’s like having family on the island!
We brought down meat and cheese in a cooler backpack ($20 Amazon) with dry ice. We carried a few dry goods in our luggage. We were able to find everything else we needed at the small markets in Governors Harbor. Do bring any medicines , even OTC ones – I had a hard time finding children’s benadryl. We enjoyed Da Perk in Governors Harbor, Tippy’s on New Years, and of course the Friday night Fish Fry (all reached within 10 minutes from the house).
We spent most of our time at the beaches right in front of Conc’d Out. On a few windy days we went over to Ten Bay beach which is very calm and shallow – it was about 15 minutes from the house. We also spent a day at Surfer’s beach. Overall we found the Atlantic ocean side beaches more fun to explore with lots of fish off the reefs, beautiful coral, and long wide sandy beaches.
The best endorsement we can provide – we just sent in a request to go back this year!
The house and cottage were wonderful. Very comfortable and everything one could need. The house was very clean and everything in order. A true home away from home. We were 3 couples and there was tons of room, lots of privacy too for each couple. The views from everywhere in the house and cottage were gorgeous. The beautiful ocean was always in view. The property is quite large and beautifully landscaped. All the privacy you could want from the neighbors. Andrew and Reta checked in on us to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. They called us on Thanksgiving day to wish us a happy Thanksgiving. Got to spend some time on another day talking to Andrew and so nice, so friendly, we enjoyed talking with him. We went to Tippy's restaurant one night and all of us had excellent meals. We did some exploring of the island and different beaches. This was my 2nd trip to Eleuthera and I really love the island!
this is a nicely kept house and cottage with a great location if you are like I am and do not want to be in the middle of town. the snorkeling was great, lots of rock and reef formations right in front of the house.. Andrew (house manager) was very nice, pleasant and helpful.
My wife and I stayed with two other family members. This is a beautiful property - right on the water, completely secluded. We plan to come back again just for the quiet nature of the island and this properly. The locals were extremely friendly and helpful, not burnt out on tourists. Andrew and Rita (the keepers of the property) are two of the nicest people I've ever met. They will take care of all of your needs and are so kind.
The only drawback was that the 2nd bedroom is downstairs - you actually have to go outside to get to it, but we really didn't mind this once we realized it gave us some privacy if needed.
This place was an absolute joy, we can't wait to come back!
Four adults had the most relaxing vacation ever. Total privacy since the second bedroom was downstairs. The house is spacious with views everywhere. Don't like the beach on the left? Scoot over to the beach on the right. Cooked in a few nights and had all the basic essential kitchen wear, even spices. Restaurants are available with a short drive and though on the expensive side are a nice diversion after a day exploring the beaches and fishing all over the island. Try the famous Tippy's, Unique Resort, Beach House, and Sunset Inn closest restaurants we went to. All had good food, great views and some nights had music. The Fish Fry is a must on Friday nights in Governor's Harbor. We also went to Sky Beach Club, Rainbow Inn and Cove Eleuthera, a good distance away but well worth the drive. Cove Eleuthera has recently been renovated and is breathtakingly beautiful. We will definitely be back to Conch'd Out. Love the location. Saw a few people on the beach but mostly had it all to ourselves.
This place is wonderful. It is everything the website says it is and much more. The place is spotless. Reta has cut flowers all around the house - nice touch. The grounds are lovely and well kept. Lots of beautiful flowers. The view is awesome. Sunsets, sunrise, and just sitting watching the cruise ships go by is a delight. You can see the ocean from every room in the house. Wonderful location on a quiet road. The house has all the amenities you could want. And if you can't find it or need info, just ask Reta and Drew. They are your life line while you are here. They will get you anything you need. Have Drew set you up on a deep sea fishing trip. You won't regret it. In the two years we have come here, I have dealt with Craig, Gary & Jayna. They were all so helpful and have great advise when planning. Don't hesitate to contact them. Eleuthera tours and deep sea fishing were great. Lots of beaches to explore. All the local people are very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to friends and relatives. This place books early so don't hesitate too long.
Conch’d Out is easily accessible- just one hour by air from Miami or Fort Lauderdale to Governor's Harbour airport. Our comfortable and well-maintained home is right on one of the most beautiful and secluded beaches in the world. This location makes a perfect playground for children of any age. You can enjoy exploring the fascinating coral reefs just offshore, catch a fish or spear a lobster for your dinner, enjoy world-class bone fishing, or charter a boat for deep-sea fishing. Two 2-person kayaks are provided for your enjoyment.
The people of Eleuthera are extremely friendly and hospitable. The island has many interesting places to visit and deserted beaches to explore. Conch'd Out, in North Palmetto Point, is located mid-island, cutting down on the time and expense of gas when sightseeing. And our attentive local caretakers, Andrew and Reta Bethel, will make sure that your Bahamas holiday is a memorable one.
