Or, if you choose, hop in the car and drive 10 minutes to one of several fine dining restaurants in Vashon town followed by a movie at Vashon Theater. Live music abounds at multiple venues on the island.

The home is on the Burton peninsula. Burton is the most coveted part of Vashon Island, within walking distance of stores, restaurants, and trails. Our family made happy Christmas memories in this special home

  • 5 of 5

We spent a memorable, week-long family Christmas here. It's a brief drive from the Telequah ferry and a short drive from downtown. With only a couple of steps from the walk, we found access safe and easy for family members from 4 to 80. Quartermaster Harbor views from living and dining rooms, kitchen and master bedroom are an outstanding feature. At night we turned off lights and enjoyed Christmas lights decorating ships docked at the marina. By day, we watched waterfowl and followed gentle trails on woodland paths. The large, well-tended lawn is perfect for kids' play and a gentle walk down to the water. Indoors, the thoughtful layout of the house allowed 7 adults and 2 kids to have Christmas dinner without feeling crowded. The kitchen is equipped for preparing a Christmas feast and at least 2 people can work side-by-side easily. The layout provides surprising privacy for each bedroom and bath, and no sound from media room/playroom reaches upstairs. The master suite is especially inviting. Muted colors add to the spacious feeling. Soft, recessed lighting and luxurious bedding make this a good place to relax. Overhead, a skylight let us watch clouds and blue sky by day and listen to rain at night. Around the house, we had many choices of areas to sit and visit - in front of the fireplace, watching a foosball match - as well as quiet nooks for a retreat with a good book. Although tempted to linger in the large, comfy beds, a couple of us enjoyed a very short walk down a country road to a coffee stand popular with locals for a latte and morning paper. The pine paneling in the original part of the house gave it warmth and coziness and the carpet was nice to sit on while playing games. Toys, games, books and DVDs kept both kids and adults busy. The foosball table was a hit! The owners provided everything from maps, menus, walking tours, field guides and local history books to batteries and a first aid kit. The decor is a pleasant, understated mix of local memorabilia and Latin American textiles. We've rented everything from homes to houseboats in Europe and the US. Good communication can make such a vacation terrific or nightmarish. Sue's prompt and warm responses to all our needs made us feel at home. We made good memories. Thank you, Sue.

Nice, quiet getaway.

We had a lovely 12 day visit to Vashon Island, staying in this lovely house on the harbor. The owners were very thoughtful and helpful, even supplying us with local guidebooks for hiking and kayaking. We were visited daily by a variety of wildlife, including a huge gaggle of geese. Our thanks to the owners for making this a memorable vacation.

Illinois visitors loved charming cottage by the water!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week here enjoying the island and were so pleased with this wonderful property. The owners were wonderful to work with long distance and we loved the location and amenities onsite. We hosted an Easter dinner for our daughter and her famiy, including the grandkids as well as my sister and her family. We had a wonderful time and discovered that anything we needed to cook with was available in the unit! We loved the nice master bedroom with en suite bathroom. The grandkids loved the game room, even though they were not tall enough to see over the foos ball table. The view of the marina included bald eagles flying overhead as well as deer walking across the yard in the early mornings. We loved it and hope to be able to come back again!

Absolutely Wonderful Time!!

  • 5 of 5

We had 7 of us staying in this wonderful cabin. It worked our perfectly for all of us. The mornings were the best as we would slowly trickle out of our beds and find ourselves congregating in the living room sipping our coffee and watching all the wild life parade by as we looked out the large bay view window. We were excited to see otters, bald eagles, racoons, seals and many varieties of water fowl. It was a great time and a great place to stay. Vashon Island as well, is a wonderful little island to explore and savior.

We are very fortunate to have found this cozy home available for our recent visit to Washington and Vashon Island. A perfect blend of comfort and a spectacular setting. We had the additional good fortune to have met the owners of this property who were eager to make our stay most enjoyable. Everything is here to make this a memorable vacation experience. Thank you once more for opening your home. P.S. If future visitors are able to be in the area during the annual local garden tour....GO! We went during our visit...a spectactacular opportunity to see the many hidden treasures on this island.
