1 BDRM APARTMENT IN 15TH CENTURY HOUSE, CENTRE OF MEDIEVAL TOWN

We stayed in the apartment for a week in early December and had a fantastic time. The town of La Charite-sur-Loire is amazing- a beautiful medieval town nestled on the banks of the Loire River. Every scene you take in has a picture-postcard quality to it- the character and charm of this place has to be experienced to really appreciate it. The town is a very easy two hour train ride from Paris Bercy and the La Charite station is within easy walking distance from the apartment. The town is medieval yet everything you need in the modern world is available to you- markets (the Saturday market is amazing), shops, restaurants of various types- all withing walking distance of the apartment. The people we encountered in town were friendly, gracious and polite- we are not French speakers, but that did not pose a problem at all- people were so accomodating that overcoming the language barrier just became another enjoyable part of the stay. The town itself is easily explorable on foot if you are moderately fit. We also rented a car for a couple days to explore some of the wonderful Loire Valley- highly recommended and easy- you can pick up a rental in Nevers, just a quick train ride away.

The apartment itself is exactly as described, but like the town, better when you experience it in person. Byron and Kelly have done a really nice job of taking this old building and renovating it into a roomy and comfortable place to call home during your stay. The blending of some of the original features with modern conveniences is very well done. The location of the place is perfect- you are literally within a few minutes walk of everything within the old town, but the apartment is very private and quiet- we had no trouble sleeping at night! The apartment was spotlessly clean, and there were no nasty surprises- everything worked and the place is well-supplied with pretty much all you need to move right in- dishes, silverware, wine glasses (!!!), etc.

As for the hosts Byron and Kelly- they were simply great. They are friendly, welcoming and helpful, with a wealth of information on both the town itself as well as the surrounding areas (which came in very handy when planning our day trips in the car). Being that they live in town, they are close by if you need them for anything but in no way are they intrusive of your privacy. Again- great hosts- as good as any we've met in years of using VRBO in locations around the world. We plan on coming back!
