This home has been in our family for over thirty years. We would come down every summer to enjoy Old Silver Beach with our boys. The beach is great for kids of all ages, because it is level, the water is warm and it has soft sand. Also it has posted lifeguards all summer and a clearly defined swimming area. We think you’ll enjoy the layout and proximity to the beach. We also want you to have the best vacation possible; we want to hear your suggestions on how to make it even better.
Best wishes for a great vacation for you and your family!

If relaxation happens when you cross the Cape Cod Canal and you want all the Cape has to offer but don't want to stay in traffic, you want Falmouth and Old Silver Beach in particular. North Falmouth has a true small town New England feel, with ten minute drive to the center of town with great shopping and restaurants. The house is a five minute walk to Old Silver, a white sand beach with no seaweed and all-day swimming - the best for all ages. It's also close to cranberry bogs and one of the best biking/walking paths in New England - the Shining Sea trail. In the fall, you can see the cranberry harvest and the sea of floating red berries. Pick up a Falmouth Enterprise Newspaper and see what’s happening in the arts and local activities.
The Shining Sea Bikeway has been extended well into N. Falmouth now and you can access it at a number of points. This gets you onto a protected paved path that ultimately leads you to Woods Hole and the ferry system to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. (Distance of approx 9 miles). You bike past the Vineyard Sound beaches and Nobska Lighthouse, often under a canopy of trees. Also within a ten minute car drive, you can be shopping downtown in Falmouth or the Mashpee Commons. Woods Hole also has a great saltwater aquarium for kids on rainy days, that includes seals and a touching pool.
My family - husband and I, newborn and 3 year old had a great time here for three weeks. We found everything we could possibly need inside the house, and the beach and area were very convenient for a family with young kids. The grandparents also joined us on this trip and had such a wonderful time, that they decided would like to purchase a home in the same area. Thanks to Barry and his family, we had a wonderful time at their vacation house which is well organized and equipped. We enjoyed the wonderful Old Silver Beach almost daily and it really helped that it was within walking distance. We appreciate you renting us your home Barry, we will come again!
Thanks Barry, your place is exactly what we needed and we were all super comfortable. So nice to have everything in the house and ready to go when we showed up. The sunsets over Old Silver Beach were amazing, and the kids loved exploring the bogs. We'll be back!
Our family had a wonderful family vacation on Cape Cod staying at this home. The house had everything we could need or want. Plenty of room for our family to spread out, a fun playroom with a ping pong table for a rainy day, a sprawling deck where we enjoyed outdoor dinners, but most importantly a short walk to a beautiful beach! Barry was more than accommodating with our needs! Our family will definitely be renting this home again...we had an amazing family vacation!
Our family spent 2 weeks in this "home-away-from-home" and couldn't have been happier. The location was perfect...walking distance to the beach and bike path, a quick drive into Falmouth or Woods Hole. The house was nicely furnished and well stocked with whatever amenities we might have needed in order to feel right at home. The owners did a great job of providing information on the area and the home's features, so we didn't have to waste our precious vacation time searching for grocery stores or restauants.
We took full advantage of the Cape from our home base in Falmouth...taking the Island Queen to Martha's Vinyard...biking the miles of path to and from Woods Hole...running...sunnning...beachcombing...lounging...you name it, we did it. We drove to Provincetown one day, Chatham another. Spent time at Nauset beach and up at Wellfleet. The activities for families are endless. It was the perfect family vacation and we definitely plan to come back next year!
We would rent this property again for sure! The proximity to Old Silver Beach is great - 1.5 minutes by bike. The home is very clean and bright and extremely comfortable. You can tell the owner and the professional cleaners take good care of it. Our family of four loved the AC in the TV room since it was 90+ degrees the week we rented. The kids loved the outdoor shower. As previous renters stated- the kitchen has everything-- and the outdoor grill is in great shape too. Barry the owner is great to deal with via email and phone. Everything mentioned in the 8/21/2010 rental review is a "ditto" for us. This is a great property if you are considering renting near old silver beach. Save us a week next year!
This home is as good as it appears on the website, even better. Spacious, immaculate, very well maintained and tastefully decorated. It really feels like home. There is plenty of space to spread out and enjoy even a couple of rainy days. Everything we needed was supplied by the owner, even things that we did not expect but greatly appreciated, like a cart to carry things to the beach, DVD's, local travel information, every utensil and kitchen item you could imagine, nice dishes, excellent quality linens, etc. The large deck is great, plenty of furniture, a quality gas grill, retractable awning, plenty of seats and privacy. Beautiful Old Silver Beach is an 8 minute, pleasant walk from the house, on sidewalks. A picnic supper at the beach at sunset was the best! A day trip up pretty route 6A to Orleans for the waves at Nauset Beach was great and we took busy Route 28 back to Falmouth for Mini-golf at Pirate's Cove in Yarmouth and dinner. Wood's Hole was interesting. A ferry to the Vineyard did not work out for this trip, but is definitely worth taking.
The owner, Barry, was pleasant, thoughtful and accommodating. It is obvious that he wants his renters to have the best experience possible. We enjoyed our interactions with him. We felt that this property is a very good value. Our experience could not have been better and we plan to rent the house again.
