We stayed a week in Rays apartment and had a great time. Ray was very friendly and we were very well received by him. The apartment is in a nice and secure area and holds all modern facilities. it is near the subway and variuos restaurants and a good grocery where you can get all you need for your stay. We would highly recommend Rays apartment for other families as it is also within short distance of the famous sights in NYC.

I host 75-80 families and small groups of friends each year in my Apartments. All my guests have been very happy with the Apartment's large space to spread out and relax, the location, and its convenience. Many guests comment that it was a great experience to live in a genuine NYC neighborhood and feel the atmosphere, without the tourists & commercial distractions of mid-town. I live nearby so I am always available to you during your stay. I'm sure your group will be happy in my Apartment.

Perfect- exactly as advertised!

Great apartment in lovely neighborhood! There is a playground just across the street that was great for our family of three (with an 8 year old boy). The apartment is very big by NYC standards. We even hosted a brunch with 15 people and everyone was comfortable. Ray was a gracious host and very attentive. Close to subway stop and only 15-20 minutes from midtown.

Great Vacation Rental in NYC! Safe, Convenient Location! Large , Clean interior!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at this NYC apartment for a week over Christmas 2013. It was perfect and very affordable for our family of 6. We were very comfortable with the size and location of the apartment. It also contained many of the necessities from plates, pans, microwave, plenty of towels, blankets, pillows and umbrellas and more! Ray was very friendly and helpful and available to us as needed at any time. It is located a few minutes walk to the subway and a couple minutes from a grocery store and restaurants which made it very convenient as well. We felt very safe walking around the neighborhood with our family which includes 4 small children. We loved NYC, and especially at Christmastime, but it was so crazy busy that it was nice to not be staying in Time Square. It was good to escape the hustle and bustle and get back to the apartment where it was quiet at the end of a busy day of touring the city. The beds were very comfortable as well. Can't say enough great things about this place and it's owner. Fantastic experience overall! We made awesome memories here and we will be back. Thank you Ray!

Great spot to stay!

We enjoyed our stay while in New York. The apartment was clean and well furnished and Ray gave us excellent tips on how to use the subway, plus tips on where to visit. We were not very far from Harlem and I wish we had more time to visit that area. It has a vibrant downtown shopping area plus lots of places to stop and eat.

My friend and I stayed in this town home for one week...it was great! The only negative thing I can say is that, if people are in the apt. above, it's really noisy when they walk across the floor. However, the place is spotless and just as it appears in the pictures.

The neighborhood is very diverse and safe. We even walked at night. No one ever approached us for money or bothered us in any way. In fact, when we needed directions, people were quite willing to help.We went to a couple of great restaurants just a couple of blocks away. Ray has a book on the coffee table with restaurants nearby that he recommends. He even has their menus.

Ray was great to work with. When we got there, he showed us all around the town home and gave us a map showing all of Manhattan and pointed out places of interest as well as explaining which subway to take and which ticket to purchase for it. The subway is so safe and easy to take. We rode it all the time.

We had a wonderful week thanks to Ray's directions and advice. I would highly recommend this cute, quaint place to anyone who wants a taste of what it's like to live in a residential NY neighborhood.

Great apartment and location, would recommend!

  • 5 of 5
This was our 3rd visit to NYC but our first time renting an apartment. (our 16 year old daughter accompanied us hence the reason for choosing an apartment instead of a hotel)
It proved to be a good choice and we were extremely happy with the apartment, the neighbourhood and our host Ray.
Ray met us when we arrived and gave us a good hand-over including tips about the local neighbourhood and also Manhattan in general.

The apartment is very clean, well equipped and warm (it was October). The neighbourhood is a lively and interesting place with lots of young families and we felt safe and at ease whilst out and about. In fact we felt very much at home and part of the neighbourhood! There is a good supermarket just round the block as well as a good selection of fast food/take-away vendors etc.
The subway is a 3 minute walk away and from there it takes 15 -20 minutes to Times Square or around 30 minutes to lower Manhattan.

All in all we had an excellent trip and enjoyed our stay at Ray's apartment and would definitely come back and will recommend to friends and family.
Feedback from our 16 year old = yeah the place was great, loved the big TV with loads of channels and also the bed was comfy!!

PS Ray also allowed us to late check out the day we left without any fuss or extra charge so thanks Ray.

Clean and Bright and in a friendly neighborhood

  • 5 of 5
I traveled alone with two 7 year olds. We arrived very early after an overnight flight and Ray let us hang out in his apartment until it was light out as well as leave our suitcase until our apartment was ready later in the afternoon. I really appreciated his availability at that early hour.
The apartment is spacious, clean and bright. I appreciated the simple furnishings, hardwood floors and windows. It felt a lot like our own home.
The neighborhood felt safe and everyone I came in contact with was extremely friendly. I was not out at night since I had two young children so I can't comment on the area at night. It seemed pretty quiet. We were on the third floor and I never heard anything from below and there are currently no neighbors on either side.
The subway line 1 is a few blocks away. The ticket person was very nice and told me not to bother buying the week pass for the kids and to have them just go under the turnstiles. They don't enforce the rules of having a pass for anyone over 44". The train is a local train, so it stops at every stop, but you can change to an express train at 96th. I had a very easy time figuring out where I needed to go and if I had to ask, everyone was very friendly.
There is a grocery store a few blocks away and some mercados. There is a small restaurant on the corner which had good daily soup. I was hoping to try Dinosaur B-B-Que and Jin Ramen which were closer to the 125th street subway exit, but my boys were always wiped out by the time we returned for dinner so I just cooked something simple in our kitchen.
One other thing to consider is the apartment is not close to the tourist areas, so we could not just go back for a quick break or a nap. Once we came back for the evening, that was it for the day.
The boys really enjoyed the 5pointz graffiti building in Queens. Unfortunately, the PS1 museum was closed the day we went (I knew this, but had to switch my planning around.) I really wanted to also go to the Noguchi museum, but didn't make it there. (Tired children!) Plan on getting tickets to the Statue of Liberty in advance. I tried to get some last minute and they were sold out. We just took the Staten Island Ferry (free) which passes by the Statue.
We also liked the Transportation museum in Brooklyn in an old subway station.
Also, there seems to be a lot of construction going on right now; Times Square, Battery Park, and the pier parks in Brooklyn...Nothing major, but noticeable.
Overall, a great experience for us.
