We chose to buy this property due to its convenient location in the heart of Waikiki although we live on the Island we live away from Waikiki and its nice to be able to just go to town and relax away from home.
The Bamboo hotel has a very nice small private inner courtyard with a swimming pool with a Jacuzzi and a waterfall there are teak lounge chairs and cabanas for guest use also. We are also within easy walking distance from the Honolulu zoo and The Waikiki Aquarium and several large parks and nice restaurants.
My daughter and I enjoyed a great stay at the Aqua Bamboo from January 9th to the 19th. The condo is exactly as shown in the pictures on VRBO. The location is great, less than a 5 minute walk to the beach.
Positives - Location, location, location. I liked this end of Waikiki beach the most. It is close to Diamond Head, the Honolulu Zoo, and a vast stretch of great shops and restaurants along Kuhio Ave.
The pool area is adorable and never crowded, making it feel like we were at our own private resort. The room was very clean upon our arrival and stocked with towels, and toiletries for our stay. There is a boogie board, a blow up lounger, beach mats and chairs available for use. I found this to be a nice touch. The bed was super comfortable. This condo rental is a great value.
Negatives - I had difficulties getting in touch with Dave via email before departing for my trip. The lock box code was not sent to me 24hrs before departure and I had to call to get it. As I was travelling from Canada, and did not want to incur avoidable long distance charges, I would have appreciated getting in touch via email. However when I did call Dave, I was able to reach him immediately and get the code.
The pool area is enclosed by buildings, and although it is lovely, there is not much sun during the course of the day, so needless to say the water is bit chilly.
The condo is in a hotel I believe, where some units are privately owned and others are hotel units. I found the some of the staff were not as attentive to my needs when they discovered I was renting a private unit. Parking of course is atrocious at $25/ day with no discount for weekly rates. It is however conveniently located right next door.
Overall I would say this is an excellent condo offering great value, and I would definitely return.
It's a great location and it was clean and neat and remodeled. It's a small studio but perfect for the rate, location and amenities. There is a small kitchen which was great and we had an easy time with staff of the hotel. Downside is there isn't anywhere to park except next door for $25 but that's everywhere in the city.. I know it says can sleep 3 but that in my opinion is not ideal for the space.
Unit was renovated and clean. We have stayed in this building before and love the location. The bed was super comfortable. A few things that could have made the stay much better were as follows. The air conditioner was constantly leaking and we emptied at least 2 buckets a day off of the balcony. Therefore, we did not sit out there very much. That was a disappointment since the balcony is something we greatly enjoy. The unit was small, which is normal for a city. However, there was no storage space in the bathroom since the cabinet was filled with cleaning supplies. The top of the closet was filled with towels which limited storage space. One of the dresser drawers also had things in it. I did not feel like I was renting a unit for an extended stay. Because of these things I felt as if I was staying in a place someone was living in. Perhaps it would have been ok for a short stay. However, improving these things would really make me consider staying there again.
My wife and I (age 29 & 30) were looking for a vacation condo close to the beach, in Waikiki, but away from noise. This location faces the beach (can't see it - no biggie) and the center of the block it resides on (quiet) and is a very short 3 blocks from the beach. Phenomenal value for his listing!
On the way to the beach there is a reasonable rental company (bicycles, motorcycles, cars and convertibles) as well as an ABC store that has all of your conveniences. The Hyatt Regency is the last block before the beach and there is some nice shopping in there - so even within the short 3 blocks, all of your basic needs are met. We did 3 "beach days", and every time we brought less and less with us because it really wasn't a hassle to get anything back at the condo. Location, location, location!
The condo has 2 lanais which was nice at night because you could ventilate the place fairly quickly, and in the morning you had your choice as to where you could drink a cup of Kona coffee. We had a few nights when we just threw on the A/C and overhead fan. All of the appliances were in great working order and we loved the tiled shower. The king sized bed was an added plus - not too many vaca condos can brag about a king sized bed within the price range we were looking at. I'd guess the bed was about a medium firmness. We slept quite well (I'm a bigger guy and my wife is quite small).
A few critiques we would have (although none of them took anything away from our vacation) would be the inefficient storage system for all the cleaning supplies. The bathroom vanity, half the kitchen cupboards, and drawer of a dresser had a large amount of cleaning materials in them. If I made a suggestion, I think the cleaning supplies in the kitchen cupboards and the one drawer could be put in a couple of totes and placed on the top shelf in the closet (there's an adequate amount of towels in there - maybe cut those back to make room for cleaning totes). The reason for this suggestion is that we bought food for breakfast and some lunches and only had 1 cupboard to put it in as well as using the dinner table/counter. Freeing up a couple of drawers and cupboards would be helpful.
Another critique that wouldn't be a necessity would be to sell the mismatched dishes/glasses and buy one uniform set.
We had a wonderful stay and would like to say "thank you" to David once again for all the questions you answered for us and we will be renting from you again!
Centrally situated, well equipped for an independent stay. All necessary mod cons.
We stayed here for a week and had the time of our lives! The suite itself was very spacious for 2 people. It was well lit and has 2 great balconies. It is newly renovated with beautiful hardwood floors and a fantastic shower. The king size bed was a heavenly treat! The location was fantastic with easy access to the beach, transit system, restaurants, the strip on Waikiki, the zoo, the aquarium and even walking distance to traditional Hawaiian restaurants off the beaten path. The staff was friendly and helpful. The pool was clean and had lots of lounge chairs and places to sunbathe. Try the pizza from the pool restaurant! Dave was easy to do business with and even let us stay a few extra hours as we had a late flight out. The only boo is the price of parking when in fact you really do not need a car if you stay here. Overall our stay here was perfect. Thanks a bunch. Your beautiful residence helped create an amazing Hawaiian visit. See you next year.
