What You See is What You Get!
This was our 4th or 5th stay at the Aqua Bamboo, but our first in a privately owned condo unit. We like the Aqua Bamboo for all the reasons other reviewers have mentioned, so we were very happy to be able to book a condo unit here.
Communication with Dave during the booking process was quick and efficient, but I hadn't received instructions on how to access the room before I left for my flight, hence a phone call to Dave at 11pm on my arrival at the hotel.
First impressions - slightly disappointed. The photos are very accurate and the room is very small.
The huge fan above the bed was lovely and meant we didn't need the air con on during the night
The bed and pillows are very comfortable and the bed linen and towels are of good quality
The shower is fabulous and the bathroom appears to have been recently refurbished
The room was clean
One of the lanis has a pool view
Plenty of drawer & wardrobe space
The kitchen is well equiped should you want to cook in (we didn't) but it was nice to be able to fix our own breakfast in the morning, despite there being only 1 cup available.
The Not So Good Bits
The room is tired and drab (A bright, fresh bed cover and some local art work on the walls would do wonders!)
The bed whilst comfortable consumes the room and there is also a fold up bed crushed into the corner of the room for person number 3 - have no idea where that person would put themselves
There is no information in the room regarding what facilities are available,including how to connect to the wi fi or, if there are, they are burried under the masses of bus timetables and old tourist brochures that don't appear to have ever been sorted through.
We also had contractors to the hotel come into the room whilst we were out and remove a wall mounted modem. Though a quick phone call to Dave eliminated our immediate concerns, it was a little disconcerting to realise someone had been in our room without our knowledge.
Considering this is the most expensive condo room listed at the Bamboo on VRBO I probably wouldn't recommend it or stay again because there are often hotel room nights available at the Bamboo around the same price or just slightly higher.

I'm sorry you were not happy with your accomodations as this is the first I have heard that the unit was not to your satisfaction.
As for our communication, it states in my rental agreement that I will email you the access code within 24 hours of your arrival ( I cannot send it sooner as that would compromise the security of the guest currently in the unit.) I change the code to the lock box after every check out. I cannot give you access prior to the current guest leaving. I also state that I am available 24/7 by cell if you do not receive the access code prior to your arrival or if you do not have internet access while traveling that all you have to do is give me a call and I'll give you the code I sent you an email at 06:19 on the day of your arrival with check in and access instructions this is well in advance of your 15:00 check in time possibly my email went to your spam folder?
The linens although not to your liking were brand new and freshly cleaned I'm sorry but everyone has different tastes. As for internet access that information is also available in your rental agreement along with the password needed for access. The small fold out futon is usually used by children If you had mentioned needing sleeping arrangements for another guest I would have told you. Many of my guests are traveling with small children and have no issues laying futon out for the children during evening hours only which maximazes the use of the small space in the room during the daytime hours. As for the bus timetables guests usually appreciate having them in the room so they dont have to go out looking for them sorry, but Im not going to alphabetize them after every check out. I do apologize for there being only one coffee cup in the room I keep a set of 4 in the room and either they all disappeared at once or the inventory sheet from my cleaning lady has not been accurate. The cups have been replaced and I did offer to bring cups to you as soon as I was notified.
The contractors room entry I had no control over, they were notified of the dates I had guests in the room and given instructions to complete their work prior to your arrival. They have been spoken to but will not be needing to enter the room again as the hotel Wifi replacement program is complete as to this being the most expensive room in the Bamboo I beg to differ, My pricing is significantly less then the hotel rate and thats before considering that I cover the taxes my pricing is a flat rate
