We make a practice, whenever we travel, of staying in vacation rentals by owners and at this point have stayed in a great number around the country. This property is far and away our favorite. We have stayed here four years in a row now and hope to return again and again. The location is excellent – just two blocks from the beach and an easy walk to downtown Santa Barbara. We love to walk and Santa Barbara and this location make this a walker’s paradise with wonderful views from Stearn’s Wharf, the yacht harbor, the rows and rows of outdoor craft stalls along the beach on the weekend, and the wonderful stores of Santa Barbara’s unique and uniquely beautiful paseos.
As for the apartment itself, it has everything we could want. Well-equipped, wonderfully furnished, with a charming Mediterranean décor, it is a delightful blend of a fun, romantic getaway and all the amenities you would ever want at home - a well-equipped kitchen, full sized washer and dryer, right down to such details as a hairdryer, shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. Among the many other amenities, small and large, that are most important to us are these: a large shower with double shower heads, a particularly comfortable couch with extended ottoman that makes watching TV or DVDs in the living room as comfortable as if sitting in bed, a very comfortable bed, plenty of pillows and blankets, CD players in both the living room and bedroom, a great variety of dishes and cookware, large refrigerator and freezer, comfortable lounge chairs and table and chairs with umbrella on the rooftop patio, even a well-stocked spice rack, as well as drip coffee maker, coffee grinder and espresso maker. And for those like us who can’t seem to break away from the internet, it also has a high speed wireless connection. The owners are particularly nice and immediately responsive to any needs that may arise. Perhaps our greatest delight of all though are the views of the Santa Barbara hills from the windows and the rooftop patio. All we can say is until you’ve sat out on that patio and watched the twilight spread across the hills while sipping champagne, you haven’t really lived.
We highly recommend this vacation rental. Without even taking into account how reasonably it is priced, it's a truly wonderful vacation escape. When you factor in how much more you get in comparison to the higher-priced Santa Barbara hotels, it becomes a bargain you can't resist.
