“Best beach on the Island!” Kailua Beach Park:
Unbelievable views, great white sand, absolutely amazing beach. We went on a Wednesday morning on our way to the Valley of the Temples(Byodo-In Temple) and the Polynesian Cultural Center. It was our second last day on the Island and we really wish we would have visited the beach earlier because we definitely would have gone back. The beach is about a 40 min drive from waikiki, and is also accessible by bus. Compared to Waikiki beach, its bigger, less crowded, has better views and is great for swimming and water sports. I really wish we could have spent more time there.
“Kailua Beach & Town....A Trip to Remember Always!:
While heading over to Kailua on your way from Waikiki, be sure to stop for a scenic drive along the 'Old Pali' road and than take the time to make a stop at the 'Pali Lookout' where you will have the opportunity to survey the vast majestic beauty of the Windward side of the island. This is a must see adventure prior to heading to Kailua Beach and Kailua town. You may also choose from one of the many 'bed & breakfast' retreats in Kailua should you decide not to stay in overcrowded Waikiki. Their are many eateries in this quaint little town, so make sure you stop along the way and pick up a take out to take with you to the beach. If going during the summer time, you will find this is the best time to visit Kailua beach, for it is a time when its not too windy, the water is calm, less waves and of a sparkling beautiful turquoise blue.
“Best views, access, atmosphere and more!” Kailua!:
Kailua Beach is a choice that rarely would be a mistake as it offers so much. For sure any issues that may occur at the time you go will no doubt be compensated in other ways. I was there in late October of 2007 and it was great. It is about a 40 to 60 minute drive from the other side of the island. Very memorable place for your trip. Plan a couple of your excursions to include this beach on the way to or from so you can make the most of the day. If going in the summer, this beach is out of the scope of most tourist so you will not be crowded even on weekends.
If you're not hot on the water sports but like to take long walks, this place offers a wonderful walk along soft powdery white sand and a scenic view along the entire shore. You're even going to make many a new friends along the way while just strolling along.
Their are other scenic beaches on the island of Oahu, but none as beautiful and pleasant to visit such as Kailua beach...and surely one that you'll always remember.
