Lovely vacation spot

We spent a wonderful, relaxing week at Kelli and Jim's place near Traverse City. The surroundings were pleasant and peaceful. We enjoyed having our own dock, paddleboat, kayak and rowboat. Our son Glen caught his first fish off the dock! The house is comfortable and in great condition. We especially enjoyed the large deck. We put out birdfood and were visited by a cheerful collection of finches, chickadees, nuthatches, titmouse birds, and squirrels. The birds and squirrels nearly come up to eat out of your hand!

The proximity to Traverse City is a great plus. Lots of nice restaurants and shops, but far enough away so that we were out of the hustle and bustle. We jetski'd and took a saleboat cruise. A drive through wine country up past Sutton Bay was a real pleasure. We also took in Sleeping Bear Dunes and had a great time there.

We'd definitely recommend staying here. (And the toaster worked just fine. :-) )

lake home

Review Submitted: July 20, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We liked that the home was close to Traverse City and the grocery store. My two main problems were the lake and the bedrooms. The Lake bottom was so covered with leaves that it was just muck about 6 to 8 feet out from the beach. Since swimming was a priority for us, that was a real disapointment. We did use all the boats and that was fun. There are really only 2 bedrooms and to get to one you must walk thru the the bathroom. My son and his wife ended up on a blow up mattress on the living room floor. The toaster did not work so we bought one to use and brought it home.
Owner's Response: We are always a phone call away should you need something fixed or replaced. The toaster was new out of the box so we were unaware that it was a lemon and would gladly bring a working one out. There are two bedrooms upstairs along with a living area. The downstairs acts as a second living area and/or a third bedroom area and is able to be closed off from the rest of the house with a door. It was actually being sublet as a studio when we purchased the home seven years ago. We leave the inflatable beautyrest queen mattress downstairs along with a brand new queen futon with a real mattress (not the futon mattresses of old). The lake is an inland lake and there is vegetation at the end of the dock. Taking the boats out a bit further with the inflatable swimming platform provides great swimming in clean, clear and temperate water. The lake is also great for fishing. It is an awesome kayaking(we provide a two-person kayak) lake as the shore line provides a beautiful visual tour. There is even a loon on the lake this summer!
