Overview

Boston Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Historic Boston is the perfect vacation setting and this rental unit is in the center of it all. Located behind the gold domed statehouse Beacon Hill is rich with architectural beauty. The streets of Beacon Hill are still lit by gas lamps today. The start of the Freedom Trail is just over the hill. Many fabulous restaurants and pubs are just a short walk away, as are most of the popular tourist attractions.

Easy access to the ferries bound for Provincetown, Gloucester and whale watching. The rental is just over the river from MIT and Harvard, and just around the corner for Mass General and Suffolk University.

Seasonally the city comes alive with the head of the Charles Regatta, First Night ice sculptures, skating on the Frog Pond, graduations, the Swan Boats in the Public Gardens, concerts at the Hatch Shell, the Boston Pops, the running of the Boston Marathon and the Boston Red Sox!

Brilliant location

  • 5 of 5

This place is situated in the most quaint street just one block back from Boston Common. It's location for sightseeing is perfect as you can walk just about everywhere. It is in a safe neighbourhood and the Cheers bar is only 2 blocks away. The home is so quaint and very spacious with two teenage boys it was perfect. The restaurants are all close by and Charles street is just 2 blocks away and you will find something to eat there. We did find though 21st Amendment a really good pub and it has such a good selection of food (although the portion sizes are very large) and the staff are friendly. We also found ZEN Japanese Grill & Sushi Bar which is near the 21st Amendment a very good sushi place with reasonable prices. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Boston except elderly people as the stairs could be an issue.

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed this apartment. It was very well furnished, with excellent heating. We stayed with our kids over Thanksgiving Break. Although easy to pass-by because of its access, it's in a great neighborhood, close to everything a family would want to see, making sight-seeing very manageable. Convenient to a Whole Foods and CVS, as well as the quaint shops down on Charles Street. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with kids older than 8 (49 stairs to climb). Easy trip from the airport (about $20 cab ride) and very close to Boston Common. I'd echo all of Erik18's comments and "The Travellers" comments. I'd incorporate all of those here, especially those of the rent coordinator, who was very responsive. I would definitely rent this apartment again.

Great stay on Beacon Hill

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this apartment. It's probably three times the size of a comparably priced hotel room in the neighborhood, which gives your family some ability to get away from each other on vacation. We stayed with our two kids and everyone said their beds were very comfortable. The access to the apartment is slightly odd, stepping down into an alley and then hiking up about fifty stairs, but speaking as a former resident of Beacon Hill, this is absolutely typical of the neighborhood. Part of the reason why we wanted to stay in an apartment was to give our kids a feel for what living here would be like, and that's exactly what we got. And though the stairs may seem like a bit of a hassle, they remove you from street noise, keeping your nights much more quiet than they would be on the first floor. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the wifi worked well enough for me to attend WebEx meetings and stay caught up on emails.

We feel the apartment was accurately represented in the photos and description, was clean and well managed, and we would definitely stay there again. The renting coordinator was also very responsive to us and our various questions. There's a Whole Foods within walking distance where you can get whatever you need, and several grocers within a three minute walk where you can get necessities, or luxuries, like a bottle of wine or a cookie.

The neighborhood is fantastic, by the way. You can walk to most places within about fifteen minutes (Fenway not included, that's about a half hour but still a nice walk on a pleasant day) and it's also convenient to several T-Stops. We highly recommend eating at Antonio's on Cambridge Street - a great italian restaurant as good as anything in the North End - we've been eating there since they opened about twenty years ago and they offer a great italian meal in the neighborhood.

Perfect Place for Families and Boston Sightseeing

  • 5 of 5

You really can't beat this place. It's located in one of the most beautiful and accessible places in Boston. If you are in reasonably good shape, you can walk to all of the major tourist attractions on this side of the river. Most are less than two miles away. The subway is ~2 blocks away and you can be across the River into Cambridge in the blink of any eye. It's a 15-minute taxi ride from Logan duruing off-peak hours. The apartment itself was comfortable, clean and light and the owners were extremely easy to work with. Deposit was cherrfully and rapidly refunded days after the trip. Easily the best VRBO experience we've had to date.

My only caveat -- and it is minor -- if you have problems walking, you may find the steps necessary to get to the apartment something of a challenge. They are steep and many. Not an issue for us at all, but worth bearing in mind depending on who is in your party.

I'd highly recommend property to any small family or group interested in Boston sightseeing.
