penny wise and a pound foolish...

My lovely wife asked me not to write this but I want the next renters to be aware of what I thought of the "lovely cabin" in the woods. Let me express I have been going to Cambria for over thirty years and needless to say have stayed at many different places. Now about the cabin. First, it is off the beaten path and does have it's charm and is quaint but there is sooo much you could do to it that would make it worth the price (with very little money) to stay at the cabin. The driveway is dirt which is okay but not in the rain, also there is a dirt path to the front door. When it rains, which it did, the driveway is slick and the dirt path becomes a mud field. Your shoes will be covered with mud. The mat that is outside the front door to wipe your feet has more mud on it then the trail. It would help if you would put down stepping stones to the front door and a new outside mat. The front yard is overgrown and needs to be cut back so that it doesn't look like a jungle (I think I saw a tiger). When you open the front door you should have a mat so you don't track mud into the house. The cabin is very charming and bright but too much so in the bedroom. I don't mind looking at nature but I don't want it looking back at me. Some kind of window coverings would be nice in the bdrm so you can have some privacy and sleep in late if you want too. A table of some sort in the bdrm would also be nice to set your suitcase on. You need to figure out how to make a shower in the bathroom instead of just a tub. I am way too big to crouch like I am praying to Mecca, also it would be nice to have a small table to set your bathroom items on. In the living room you need a table behind the couch, a coffee table and a rug in front of the couch. The "CD" player is a boom box, you can do better. I didn't really care about the TV, but I didn't know they still had those kind around. Now the kitchen; a cheap microwave would be nice, again a rug by the sink, a table by the window to set items, a silverware tray and decent pots and pans would add to it's charm. I know I'm "beating you guys up" but it would take very little work and money to make this "diamond in the rough" a true diamond. I know I won't be invited back-Thank you for that.
Ohh, you can walk to the beach and Cambria but you can also walk to Los Angeles (bring hiking boots and water).
Owner's Response: The Cabin is a rustic restored antique cabin, ½ mile (or 3 ½ blocks) above the ocean in Cambria. It is not modern. It takes you back in time. We are located near the forest and you may see deer, wild turkey, fox, quail, doves, etc. California just had a huge winter rain and wind storm and that created some mud. The Cabin has wood floors throughout. We are carpet and rug free. This is good for people with allergies and for those of you who enjoy wood floors. Our décor is understated. The Cabin is best enjoyed by guests looking for a break from modern life complexity - to enjoy a bit of simplicity.
