Family owned property. Summer vacations were spent in Avalon. Our children could run back and forth from our house to the beach and to mainstreet in a matter of minutes. They had so much fun!
The Owner purchased this house in 2009
The close proximity to town, yet the house is situated to leave one with the feeling of privacy and tranquility.
Quick access to town and the water. Spectacular views of the harbor, city, and canyons from most every room! The property is new and bright. Evening sunsets and city lights.
This would have been a perfect vacation home except for the construction on street level all day and the caretaker doing maintenance on property above (sanding and painting) which hindered our ability to sit out on the decks. It was a shame to not be able to enjoy the view and weather while out on the decks and it would have been better customer service if the rental agent had warned us that we wouldn't have had the luxury of relaxing on the decks during our stay.
This home was exactly as described. It had a fantastic view of Avalon and we could spot it on the hill from anywhere in town. It was very close to everything we wanted to do, yet far enough from the shops and restaurants to have some privacy. It has a great layout for a family - the bedrooms are on either side of the house and there are two separate family rooms to enjoy the view, with a kitchen in the center. The kitchen had upgraded appliances, washer/dryer, and the showers were great! Both decks provided great and expansive views of the town and Avalon harbor. There are quite a few stairs to get to the house, so be prepared for that, but it was well worth it for the view. We thought overall that this house was a great value compared to the price of a hotel room in the summer, and especially when considering the priceless view. We would definitely stay there again in the future!
My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary on Catalina Island. Our two sons, daughter-in-law, and grandson accompanied us; therefore, the space of this unit was perfect. My wife and I took one bedroom. My son, daughter-in-law, and grandson (got his own twin bed very near his mom and dad) took the other, and my older son slept on a sleeper sofa. You might feel sorry for the single son, but he got the best views ever! The city lights at night were stunning. I will tell you that the room with two beds has a private bath. My wife and I had to leave our bedroom to get to the other bathroom (just one step outside the bedroom door). The location of this unit is perfect. When we got off of the ferry, we rolled our luggage right up to the steps leading to the unit. There was no need to pay for a taxi. There is an "elevator" on the outside of this property. The older gentleman and his family above us had the key to use it, but we did not. It would have made hauling our luggage up those stairs a bit easier. You might ask about that if you book. Basically, we loved everything about this unit. It was super clean and beautiful. It allowed all of us to stay together. We grilled out on the side deck (people staying above must walk through side deck to get to their place, but this is no big deal). The views could not have been better. Yes, there are some homes higher on the hillside, but this one was perfect. It was high enough to allow fantastic views, but it didn't kill us walking up too far. There was only one negative here - bird poop. Two times we had birds land on the deck rail on the unit above us. When they pooped, it landed on our deck. It almost hit my grandson once. If you get a chance, you've got to go zip-lining and para-sailing! Both were fantastic. We ate a very nice dinner at Steve's Steakhouse. At the bottom of the hill is a great breakfast place. I want to say it was called the Pancake Cottage? Great food! Great service!! My wife and daughter-in-law went to Touch of Heaven for facials, and they are still talking about them. Basically, this was one of the best vacations we've ever had. From the weather and condo to the food and activities, we could not be happier!
