Dear Jane and Billy,
As you know, we were up for the HOOT this summer and loved the place.
It was a no-brainer to come back for our 6th Anniversary Celebration to enjoy the Fall foliage in this little slice of heaven.
It coincided with the LUTHER'S Convention- What a Treat!!
We also enjoyed hiking around the Ashokan Reservoir and a couple of delicious dinners at The Red Onion, and New World Cooking.
Ciao for now!
We've spent 2 nights at this adorable cottage. The place is very clean. Beautiful private settings. The incredible views, very close to restaurants. Jane recommended to go to Cooper Lake which had amazing views. Thank you Jane and Billy, will try to come back soon :)
We had a wedding to attend in Woodstock, along with my daughter and her fiance. This was our first visit to Woodstock and The Catskills, so I really didn't know what to expect. We arrived late that evening and Billy so graciously welcomed us, and was only too happy to tell us about the lovely town of Woodstock.
His cottage is CCC.... Clean, Cozy and Comfortable. The listing description and photographs are very accurate, but there is so much more than his photos show.
One of the highlights of our stay was at the cottage, when we had the pleasure to get to meet Billy and Jane's poodle and her playmate. It was simply joyful seeing those two running along the stream. They brought back such sweet memories of our poodle "Jesse."
I highly recommend this terrific property to friends and family. Our stay was praiseworthy and unforgettable.
We had a lovely time at this charming and comfortable cottage by a marvellous stream. Our stay was the perfect contrast to a few busy days in NYC, and in fact we spent our first 24 hours there not going anywhere, just relaxing. The cottage is clean, bright, airy, spacious and nicely furnished, the bed is very comfortable, the little kitchenette is well equipped, and the omni-present sound of the stream is just a delight. We did not meet Jane, but Billy was easy to deal with and most helpful. Did I mention the stream? We were fortunate enough to have a remarkable thunderstorm on our last evening there, and sitting on the couch in the bedroom listening to the thunder and the rain, while the stream turned into a torrent, was a total treat. This little gem of a cottage has our highest recommendation!
Everything went smoothly with the arrangements, and the cottage was clean and in good order. The great thing about this place is the beautiful view from the bedroom (windows all around), and the back yard overlooking the river. We saw lots of wildlive and went for a wade and swim in the river. We hope to return.
This was our second stay at the cottage. Our first was in February when we enjoyed 3 glorious feet of fresh snow and the tiny tinkling of stream beneath the ice. Upon arrival, the driveway had been plowed, but the pathway needed shoveling to get to the front door with our luggage. The owner was away at the time. So, we shoveled.
When the owner found out, he was so apologetic that he offered us another night gratis at a time of year of our choosing. We chose springtime!
This past weekend, we arrived to the sound of a stream in its full glory and woke up the next morning to birds tweeting.
The cottage has all the basics covered -- small kitchenette, fixins to make coffee, petite shower, comfy bed.
It's decorated in an old, hodgepodge style. But we didn't mind.
The real pleasure is in the view from the bedroom windows...and if you're a city mouse, of emerging to wiggle one's toes in the grass, and to linger over a cup of coffee while relaxing in the adirondack chairs, stream side. And the host couldn't have been a better sport.
The stores and eateries of Woodstock are a quick drive away, and the hiking and snowshoeing nearby are terrific. The cottage is a pleasure in winter and spring.
