The dream started shortly before my wife and I took a 3 week building course at the Shelter Institute in Bath, Maine. For the next 6 or 7 years we worked long hours - mostly weekends building our summer cottage. From clearing the land, pouring the foundation, stairways, dormers and decks, wiring, and plumbing... we did most of the work, using professional help when needed. We learned that a ton of man hours go into building a house. The dream included 3 phases - build the cottage; margaritas on the deck; get a little boat and be able to explore the coast around Boothbay. Well here we are - picture taken from Shore Road.
