The cabin is amazing! The surroundings are beautiful, and also is the road to get there. Very peaceful and calm place, great to relax and they provide all kind of stuff in the cabin as sheets, blankets, towels and kitchen supplies. I went with my friends to shoot a short movie in the weekend. It looks amazing thanks to a beautiful location. I totally recommend it for a fun weekend with family or friends. The kids with us had a lot of fun too!

Perfect Getaway

This was my 3rd time at Cabin on the Pond- and I have recommended it to several family and friends who have also stayed there. This is the perfect location on the North Fork. Access to the pond is great- we have seen all kinds of birds including ospreys, turtle, frogs, etc. The beach is very close and very secluded! I would definitely recommend taking the bikes and just getting lost in the neighborhood. Last time we were there we discovered the lighthouse and a beautiful quiet beach, which we had all to ourselves!
Greenport is very close and has great restaurants, bakeries, and ice cream. Plus there are farm stands, fish markets, wineries, breweries, and great places for cheese all over the North Fork- it's a foodie's dream!
The place is clean and spacious and has all new, modern amenities in a quaint, little country cabin. It's really the best of both worlds. I would recommend it to anyone!

Great Vacation Spot!

My family & I were looking for a relaxing hideaway on Long Island and this is it! The cottage was great and had everything provided you could possibly think of. The location was amazing with the lake frontage and beach just a few minutes walk away. If you have a car you are also minutes from lovely towns and beauty spots. Kids loved the lake and went on it every day. Was just what we needed before heading into NYC for a very different week! All in all, excellent vacation home. Would recommend to anyone.

Great family holiday!

This is a great cottage for a family vacation, it's clean, spacious and has a great kitchen and dining area. It has a lot of fun things for kids to do and our 4- year old daughter loved the paddle boat on the pond!
The only negative I can say is that, since this is the owners actual summer cabin, it is full of the owners own things- this threw us a bit the first day as we are not used to that arrangement. however, when we had settled in and gotten used to it, it sort of felt like living in a friends house. The positive thing about it being an active holiday home for the owners is that it is very well equipped in a way that holiday lets rarely are.
The location of the house is both beautiful and peaceful- close to a gorgeous and, by the time of our visit, basically empty beach.
The little towns around are lovely, Peconic is a cute spot to have brunch or dinner. Do not miss going to the Southold fish market to get fabulous fresh fish for the barbecue!
I would recommend this to anyone who love to relax, eat well and swim at the beach!

The cabin was a perfect place to spend the weekend. There was a paddleboat available, and the lake was great....The beach is super close as well. The owners were very nice, and we'd definitely stay again when in the area.

The North Fork has so much to do in diverse natural topography & unique villages! Great biking, kayaking, bird & other wildlife watching, walking down nature's paths, swimming in the Long Island Sound, Peconic Bay, lakes & fishing too. More than 30 wineries with tastings, tours, live music, & art shows. There are unique artisan shops, galleries, and specialty food stores. Farms tend to be small, on some you can pick your own; farmstands abound, with gourmet organic specialties such as fresh picked lavender & goat cheeses & soaps. Homemade pies & pastries, Long Island duck, the best fried chicken, haute cuisine, and seafood galore. In Southold, there are historic homes, an observatory & an Indian Museum. For families with children there's miniature golf & a carousel in Greenport. All are welcome on tours of lighthouses, by foot or boat, harbor cruises, musical and theatrical performances, special festivals, and lots of charity events & firehouse cookouts enhance weekends.

Other Activities: Stargazing at Custer Observatory every Saturday night

Notes:
The Great Room is open plan - living room, kitchen & eating area. The knotty pine walls evoke the woods outside & give a feeling of a real country cabin. The fireplace can change the physical or emotional temperature. The kitchen is fully set up - all electric. We leave you a nice assortment of teas - black, green & herbal; regular & decaf coffees plus the fixings and some food & spices. Feel free to take one and leave one of the books. We want you to be able to relax & feel at home. Outdoors, the kayak, pedalboat, and rowboat are there to explore Great Pond. No gas boats are allowed. Laze on the floats or tube. The hammocks are built for two each. There are bikes in the shed - even some fold-ups easy to take along on local adventures. You can set up the croquet set. Barbecue some fish from a local spot or that you have caught. Over half of our one acre property is wetlands, protected by the D.E.C. & Southold Township under a covenant with the king of England in the 16th century
