Notes: The Great Room is open plan - living room, kitchen & eating area. The knotty pine walls evoke the woods outside & give a feeling of a real country cabin. The fireplace can change the physical or emotional temperature. The kitchen is fully set up - all electric. We leave you a nice assortment of teas - black, green & herbal; regular & decaf coffees plus the fixings and some food & spices. Feel free to take one and leave one of the books. We want you to be able to relax & feel at home. Outdoors, the kayak, pedalboat, and rowboat are there to explore Great Pond. No gas boats are allowed. Laze on the floats or tube. The hammocks are built for two each. There are bikes in the shed - one is a fold-up easy to take along on local adventures. You can set up the croquet set. Barbecue some fish from a local spot or that you have caught. Over half of our one acre property is wetlands, protected by the D.E.C. & Southold Township under a covenant with the king of England in the 16th century.

Thanksgiving at the cottage

5 of 5
Submitted: January 1, 2013 Stayed: November 2012
My family stayed at the cottage for a week at Thanksgiving this year. It is the second time we have spent a holiday at the cottage. We look forward to doing it again in the future.
The cottage has everything you need to to enjoy your stay. The kitchen is first rate and Thanksgiving dinner was a easy task. We enjoyed the paddle boat, kayak and the fishing was good for the time of year.
The location of the cottage makes it easy to visit many areas of the north fork.
The owners are wonderful to deal with and easy to get in touch with.
We will be back!

Always Perfect!

5 of 5
Submitted: November 13, 2012 Stayed: August 2012
Back for our second visit to Judith's and Yehudit's Cabin on the Pond and our group of 4 had a perfect stay!

The cabin had been very nicely renovated since our last visit and we were excited to see a beautiful new kitchen, bigger windows and two modern bathrooms. Once again we loved the large pond for kayak rides, for fishing, morning coffee sipping, and beautiful sunsets in the evenings. The cabin has everything we needed (rowboat, kayak, pedal boat, 2 hammocks, bikes, beach chairs, modern gas grill, etc) so we spent plenty of time enjoying all those amenities.

The surrounding area has so much to offer as well! Kennys Beach on the Sound is very close and the gently rolling, tree-lined roads make for both scenic runs and bike rides. We visited several wineries (highly recommend Shinn Vineyards and the Lenz Winery) and also Braun Seafood for fresh seafood to eat there or to grill back at the cabin.

Just as before, Judith and Yehudit were very kind, helpful, and available whenever we needed. This cabin really is perfect for a small group. We had two couples and a small dog and felt we had all we needed for a comfortable stay.

Cottage on Lake

4 of 5
Submitted: October 2, 2012 Stayed: September 2012
My family and I recently stayed at this lovely cottage lake house. It was exactly what I imagined based on the website descriptions and pictures. It was quiet, comfortable, and organized. The house was supplied with everything you might have thought you left at home, which was an added bonus.

The owners of the home were extremely nice and always available to answer all your questions.

It was a nice long weekend I desperately needed.

Relaxing restful stay - beautiful natural setting

5 of 5
Submitted: October 1, 2012 Stayed: September 2012
My husband, daughter and son-in-law had a wonderful 3 day stay at Cabin on the Pond. The setting is beautiful - very private and yet the water of the pond and the wetlands are right there. We enjoyed the peddle boat and kayaks and relaxing with a book in the hammocks in the mornings, and toured wineries in the afternoon. We used the kitchen to make wonderful meals from local farm markets. We visited the goat farm (amazing lavendar honey goat chevre), purchased local fruit spread, visited the olive oil and vinegar tasting shop, and discovered, most amazingly, Aldos Coffee in Greenport (not to be missed). After dinner, we played games on the large vintage dining room table. There was plenty of indoor light, and the 2 bedrooms are nicely separated by the full bath. We were very comfortable and hope to visit again in spring or summer.

The property was very well kept and clean, and minor glitches with gas to the grill were fixed promptly. We found Yehudit and Judith to be excellent hosts.

Cabin on the Pond

4 of 5
Submitted: August 8, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
We stayed at the cabin for a short week at the end of June and had a wonderful time. Our 2 young kids enjoyed running around, observe nature, swim and boat on the Pond as well as at the 2 nearby beaches. The cabin is very well suited for a family and super functional. The BBQ came in super handy and so did the bikes.
The immediate area is full of wonderful things to do but as a family, we enjoyed being together at the cabin, listen to the quiet and look at the beautiful sunsets. Overall, a great experience to connect and reconnect. Would consider visiting in a different season. Thumbs up!
Of importance: the owners are very responsive and provided us with all we needed to know, being totally new to the area (i.e.: directions to the house, how to get a beach pass at the Town Clerk's Office quickly, etc...).
