Our trip was very enjoyable- staying in this beautiful home. Owners very helpful. We had 4 generations in this home - ages ranging from 17 months old to 86 yrs old. The main level was spacious for us to enjoy each others company. Wonderfully equipped kitchen where we prepared all our meals. The only drawback was the steep driveway & slanted concrete by the front porch- a little difficult for the elderly, who use a walker or cane.
Our week could not have been better. This is a beautiful house in a near perfect setting. We had 5 adults and 2 teenagers in our party and there is more than enough room. The home is impeccably maintained, stocked with everything you need except food, and the owners are friendly and gracious hosts. We need only to pick the dates for our return trip next year.
Our family spent a week at this house and everything was absolutely outstanding! The home is beautiful and has direct access to the lake. We definitely got our use out of the private boat slip and swimming dock and used both daily. We plan to make another trip next summer (hopefully to the same house) as we had such a great time. The owners are friendly, attentive, and live in close-proximity to the rental if you need them. The home is on a rather steep grade so it may be difficult for young children or elderly family members to access the lake. Nonetheless, I have a 6 and 5-year old and they both made it around the property with ease. This really is a great spot and well worth the rate.
Our family just enjoyed a great family vacation at this beautiful Log Home on Lake Barkley. It was wonderful. Our party consisted of six adults, a four-year old and two-year old. We all had a great time and enjoyed this beautiful property.
The Log Home is situated on a hill overlooking a very peaceful cove on Lake Barkley. You do get a work-out going up and down the hill to the dock, but it is well worth it. People with mobility issues would be comfortable in the house on the main floor, but may have difficulty getting down to the dock, and back up to the house.
We brought our own kayaks and were able to keep them on the dock that comes with the house. The swim platform also provided ample room for chairs and all of our fishing gear. We swam, fished, and caught plenty of fish right from the dock. Our four-year old grandson caught the most and the biggest fish, which made him very proud. The two-year old caught his first fish, but he wasn't all that excited about it. We also took advantage of the Pontoon Boat the owners offer for rent. It just added to the pure enjoyment of the lake and entire stay. They also provided gas service to refill the boat, which was about $0.50 cheaper than the marina and very convenient. Having use of the boat also provide an additional place for those who were not fishing on the dock to sit in comfort, read, relax, and even nap. It was so peaceful sitting on the dock or boat, watching the various birds, turtles, and jumping fish.
The house was immaculate and very well equipped. The kitchen was well stocked with everything our "foodie" family needed to cook and enjoy the food we brought. Linens (line dried), dishwashing, dishwasher, and laundry soap; and paper products are included.
The owners also do a very neat thing. At the end of your stay, if you have food left over, leave it in the fridge. They then give that food to those in the area who are not as fortunate. We've stayed in some properties where you would be charged if you left food. This way, you don't have to bring home left-overs or open containers. The food is not thrown away, but given to someone who needs and appreciate its. They also recycle your aluminum cans and donate that money to the local human society.
We all appreciated the warm hospitality of John and Kim and their focus and emphasis on great customer service. We all agreed we would like to return and have already started talking about going back next year.
We had a great time during the holiday weekend. There were 3 couples and the cabin was the perfect fit. The living room has plenty of space to relax (2 couches). The kitchen has enough counter space to prepare a meal for 6 and the storage space is large enough to store food, drinks etc... for an entire week if needed. The boat dock was perfect for the days that we did not have a boat. With the cabin being in a cove, you can take a raft out in the water without having to worry about boats flying by you. We did rent a boat for one day from the Lake Barkley Marina (about a 15 minute boat ride from the cabin). John and Kim were great. Kim was there to meet us when we checked in and gave us a tour of the cabin, letting us know the basic info for our stay. Overall, I highly recommend the cabin and for the price, you can't beat it. We'll be back next year and we look forward to seeing Kim's smiling face next summer!!
We have rented houses on the lake for over 10 years and this house was our #1 favorite!! The house was very beautiful and the view was even better. Town is not far at all so if you need to pick up some groceries you dont need to drive 30 miles to get there. We rented the pontoon boat for 4 days which turned out great. We spent our days on the lake and the evening grilling and enjoying family time. The owners John and Kim were so nice, we enjoyed chatting with them. I was surprised there was no check out list which was nice. Usually there is a long list of things the owners want done before you leave so it was refreshing to not worry about that! John would come right to the door and pull the heavy bin up of trash to be emptied. I can't say enough good things about this house, we are already planning to go back next summer!
