Each suite, with it's own attached full bath, opens onto the private oceanside courtyard. One suite offers a private courtyard. The 2 lanais surrounding the house let you enjoy the ocean views from the privacy of your home. The house has a wide-open floor plan, perfect for large groups. Come in to our fresh flowers, sample our gift basket, and enjoy your stay in paradise! A Place in Paradise is decorated in Hawaiian style with all new Hawaiian style furniture on cool terracotta floor. Lovely vacation, lovely home...

We were very pleased with this house, overall. It's quite large and was able to accommodate the 12 of us well. The location can't be beat. You step off the back patio onto the beach that was never crowded. It was as if we had a private beach much of the time!

The house itself suited us nicely. Each bedroom had it's own a/c, so we were comfortable at night and when dressing. The rest of the house is not air-conditioned, which was fine most of the time. On occasion, it was a bit muggy and warm, but we always had a sea breeze coming through. Because you're right on the water, there's a constant humidity in the air, which affects the interior of the home - so there are some rust issues and sticky doors, etc. Not unexpected and not a big deal, but don't expect perfection. The kitchen is more than well-equipped, there are plenty of towels (bath and beach), water pressure is good, the view is amazing. Kim, the house manager, was helpful in explaining how the house "worked". It's also a super-quiet neighborhood, which was great for kid bedtimes.

We would definitely recommend a Place in Paradise to anyone seeking a relaxing vacation in an amazing location. Kailua is like a little oasis on a busy island. Try Kapalowei Market for a tasty lunch, and leave the kids at home while the adults enjoy a casual but gourmet dinner there in the evening. Lanikai Juice has the most amazing smoothie bowls - a big hit for breakfast or an afternoon snack. Head to the North Shore for some surf lessons followed by shave ice at Aoki's. Spend some time just breathing that fresh, salty air.

Place in Paradise

The description of Place in Paradise was very accurate, and in fact this home was even better than described. The location was perfect - on the beach at the end of a private lane, yet accessible to all amenities, such as grocery store, restaurants, etc. It was clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed. In particular, the kitchen was well stocked with equipment for cooking, baking and dining. We ate most of our meals at home.

The manager of the home was pleasant to deal with, responsive and accommodating. Both the interior and exterior were well-maintained and welcoming.

Our group comprised an extended family of parents, two daughters, two sons-in law, and seven grandchildren. The kids ranged in age from 2 yrs to 14 yrs, and all of them enjoyed living in the home and having a beautiful beach on our doorstep. The layout of the house provided all of us with privacy, and having six bathrooms was a godsend.

We enjoyed much of what Oahu offers: excursions to the North Shore, hiking in the mountains, visiting historic sites, snorkelling in Hanauma Bay, watching body surfers on Sandy Beach, kayaking, and many hours walking and playing on the beach and boogie boarding in the surf in front of our home. The older children played some tennis on the private courts near the house.

We would highly recommend this home to anyone wanting a wonderful place to stay while vacationing on Oahu. It is ideal both for families and for groups of adults.

The home was everything described in the ad and more. The home was very clean and updated. The rental agent was prompt in meeting us upon arrival. Our family of seven spread throughout the entire house and all of us had the privacy that we needed. The views from the lanais were breathtaking. The front of the home was all glass and faced the east so we were treated every morning to beautiful sunrises over the ocean. The beach was fantastic and very kid friendly. My six year and 2 year old grandchildren had the time of their lives playing in the surf (2 and 3 foot waves) and sand. We would highly recommend this home. We enjoyed dinners at Pinky's and Assagio's. Two restaurants and a grocery store were within 2 blocks of the home. Tuesday night is kids night at Pinky's and the balloon man enthralled my grandchildren with balloon animals. The early morning walks on the 5 miles of white sand beach were especially relaxing. The beach was never crowded. The town of Kailua, population of 30,000, has a small town atmosphere and not overrun with tourists. An interstate highway connects Kailua with Honolulu with a travel time of about 20 minutes.
