Charleston House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 2-7)

This Historic Charleston Singe was built c1845. It has been the subject of a painting titled 'The Ashe House' by Edward Hopper c1930, after he rented a room in the home across the street. You will be in walking distance from all that you are here to see- The Battery, the Ashley and Cooper Rivers, The Ravenel Bridge, The Market, The King Street shopping district, East Bay Street restaurants and Galleries, Rainbow Row, the cruise dock, and Broad Street galleries.

The home has 2 bedrooms with Queen beds, one is a Tempur-pedic and one a posture-pedic. The couch in the living room downstairs is long enough for most to sleep on. The living room serves as an additional sleeping area when necessary, with an option of a deluxe felt top queen air-mattress.

Guestbook comments from the owner
We have had a wonderful week here in Charleston and in your Tradd St. home. It has gone way too quickly. We had dinner at Coast last night and had a lunch at Rue de Jean. Also a great meal at McCrady's and at Husk. You have so many good restaurants here in Charleston. We will definitely be back and if you are still renting your house we would love to stay here again.

We bought this property because of its quaint, historic charm and of course, its location. We like strolling up King Street to shop, Gallery hopping on Broad Street, dining on East Bay Street or letting our children and Golden Retriever play at the park.

When staying at our property, you will be just one block from Mayor Joe Riley, several blocks from King Street shopping and restaurants, several blocks from galleries on East Bay, Queen Sts, The Market, The Slave Museum, Historic Broad Street Galleries and pubs, and the spot to catch those horse carriage tours.

GREAT HOME - "LOCATION-LOCATION"

Great HOME - "location-Location"

This is an excellent comfortable home. Everything works. Easy walk access to everything. Short walk to FREE trolly that will take you to almost every feature in this beautiful city. Close to many historical sites. Couple minutes to every sunset over the Asley River, return home passing the wonderful buildings and gardens and relax in a comfortable night sleep. Waken to the klop - klop klop of the carriages passing by.
Wonderful experience.

WONDERFUL VACATION

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful time staying at this home. It was really nice to have coffee in the morning and wine in the afternoon outside on the patio watching the horse carriages go by. We took the owners advice and did one of the home/garden tours to get a feel of the history of Charleston. Everything was clean and the house gave us a feeling of being welcome.
When I could not figure out how to use the coffee maker, India, the owner was on the phone with me in 10 minutes. It all worked out well and we would love to return some day. Our stay here was so much better than a hotel.

PERFECT LOCATION, LOVELY HOME, WONDERFUL HOST

  • 5 of 5
This is a gorgeous home in the perfect part of downtown, residential Charleston. The owners were warm and accommodating, just lovely people. The home is close to restaurants, shops, and yet is away from the noise, hustle and bustle. I would highly recommend this jewel to anyone looking for the perfect Charleston getaway.

GREAT HOUSE IN HISTORIC CHARLESTON

  • 5 of 5
This is a fantastic home in a great location. A little bit of a walk to downtown restaurants/shopping but totally doable unless the weather is bad. Great communication from owner. We really enjoyed our stay and would recomend this house to others and would stay there again.

AS DESCRIBED

  • 4 of 5
Conveniently located for our needs, and as described. I've utilized VRBO for multiple stays and this is the first time the owner did not contact me with instructions on accessing the home and the general do's and don'ts. My email inquiry was not initially returned. We were finally able to reach them via phone. It turns out they misplaced our rental information and didn't have record of our reservation. After we forwarded emails showing confirmation of our reservation and payment, we were provided with the code to access the property. However we never did receive a "welcome" email with general do's and don'ts or with tips for locating the property, which turned out to be a challenge when arriving at night. As for comfort, the bedding and linens were all quite cozy! The kitchen was nicely stocked with all needed pots, pans, dishes, etc. Our only two complaints were: #1 there is a flat screen television in the master bedroom, however it only gets one channel as it appears not to be hooked up to the cable which seems pointless in having it unless you are really into Star Trek and cooking shows. We were traveling with children and it would have been nice to have more than one television with cable. Complaint #2 is that we had to go out and buy toilet paper. One bathroom didn't have any, and the other two bathrooms were at the very end of the rolls. For the amount paid to stay here, I didn't expect to have to furnish my own! Overall, the house is quaint and comfortable and it was well located for our needs.

PERFECT LOCATION, AMAZING HOME, SUCH HOSPITABLE OWNERS

  • 5 of 5
We had a group coming to visit in Charleston and booked via VRBO so we could all stay together. What a great decision - the home was spotless when we arrived and was so inviting after a 5 hour journey in. Location couldn't get any better either as we did not have to use our car once during the weekend and chose to walk or bike ride around instead. India was available by phone throughout just in case and was always so kind when we spoke. Can't wait to refer family and friends, amazing experience!
