Tired of the hustle and bustle of Waikiki? Forget all your worries and troubles in this quiet cottage just a short walk to the beach which also offers stunning views of the majestic Koolau mountain range. You are just a short walk to Kalapawai Market for some of the best Kona coffee around and you can enjoy it for a walk on the beach for sunrise where you might be lucky enough to see the whale spouts in the distance or the turtles closer to shore, or bring it back to the front garden to watch the sun light up the Koolaus.

Spend the day sightseeing or enjoying one of the many water sports available at Kailua Beach, but savor the peace and quiet of a residential neighborhood in the evening and wake up refreshed for another day in paradise.

You are just a short bike ride away to the start of the Lanikai Ridge Trail- something that is easy even for beginners, but offers unforgettable views of Kailua Bay and Lanikai Beach all the way to the Makapu'u Lighthouse. After stretching your legs on the hike you can go into town for breakfast at Cinnamon's and their delicious daily specials or to Boots and Kimo's for their famous macadamia nut pancakes. Spend the day window shopping through Kailua Town and the night offers many great restaurants, such as Buzz's Steakhouse which is just a short walk from the studio, and finish the night up with a drink or two at the Kailua Town Pub, Boardriders or one of the other bars in the area.

About The Owner

We moved out of the big city of Tokyo a few years back and after a lengthy search found this home which we could rebuild to make our own. We love the quiet (no barking dogs!) neighborhood and the close proximity to Kailua and Lanikai Beaches.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2009
Why The Owner chose Kailua

We chose Kailua because it offers the best of everything in Hawaii- the pristine beaches, beautiful nature, wonderful people without the hectic pace of Waikiki or Honolulu. It also is one of the safest places we have ever lived and is welcoming to families and singles alike.

What makes this cottage unique

We have all the ocean activities you could want and many of the tools for enjoying it. You can also stop at Kailua Sailboards and Kayaks and rent a kayak to go out to the Mokuluas or try your hand at windsurfing or kite surfing. You can just enjoy the hedonistic pleasure of laying on the beach, too. Whichever path you take, Kailua has everything you want, and our Aloha Garden is just around the corner from it all.

We had a lovely time at the cottage. It is really nicely made up; super clean, modern, comfortable and private. The photos here don't do it justice. I would absolutely recommend this place to my friends.

This rental worked out perfectly for our family of four. Just a short walk to the beach for kayaking, kite surfing, and swimming. Scott was a great help on advice and the use of snorkel equipment, towels, boogies board, bike, etc. , was wonderful.

I would highly recommend this studio to anyone looking to get away to Hawaii. Great location, easy walk to the beach and very comfortable setup. Everything works and I have no complaints what so ever. Scott was very helpful and kind, willing to help out with anything you might possibly want to know. Lent us snorkel gear without a problem and led us to best beach to see coral and sea life.

We will be back!!

We stayed here for 3 nights in October for our 10th anniversary. How often is your accommodation even nicer than the pictures? This was one of those times! The location really was 4 minutes to the beach and coffee. Scott had two two beach bikes which made our trip, it was wonderful not to step foot in our car after arriving. He also was a great wealth of information, tons of great suggestions slightly off the beaten track. We hope to return someday!

Paradise on the edge of everything

This great studio cottage is 2'ish blocks off one of the best beaches on Oahu and a short drive from the hustle and bustle of the Honolulu. The outdoor space is the best I've had in a vacation rental in Hawaii. It was private and comfortable. Great for reading or dinner and conversation over a bottle of wine after a day in the sun. If you don't feel like cooking Scott has GREAT dining suggestions. Between the furnishings, gear and location all you need to bring is a bathing suit. I'd stay here again and recommend it.
